What a fun evening this was! A troop deployment dinner was held at the St Helens Elks club on March 8, 2009. There are 85 young men and women schedueled for deployment to Iraq sometime in the next few months. A dinner was given for them and their spose or significant other. The party was 4 months in planning by The Red White and Blue Committie. This group is comprised of community minded organizations working together on behalf of the commuity. They are, The American Legion, VFW Post 1440 and Auxiliary of St Helens, VFW Post 4362 and Auxiliary of Scappoose, and the Elks Lodge. There were several guest speaker, including, Senator Betsy Johnson, State Representative Brad witt. Retired Colonel Wist, and a toast was given by State VFW Adjutant Quartermaster, Roger Ege. All of the young warriors looked absolutely awsome. It was a fun time to remeber later years down the road.
