Healing Presence
I am healed in body, mind and soul.
Healing comes in many forms and in many ways. Some wounds heal quickly and visibly, like the physical healing of a scratch or a burn. Other wounds may take more time to heal. A broken heart, a troubled life or a dampened spirit requires a greater depth of healing--healing of my body, mind and soul.
Every need for healing is an invitation to turn within to God for guidance and direction. As I enter into the silence to meditate and pray, I connect with the Source of both my physical and spiritual healing. I am guided to the ways of strength and wholeness. I receive the most vital and lasting form of health: the healing of my soul.
For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal.--Jeremiah 30:17

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
~Robert Frost
Today's Affirmation
I follow the path that Spirit illumines before me.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
When we are yielded and still and seek Your will, love lights the way.
Thank You for nudging us onward, especially when we think we are lost.
Wherever we are, whatever we are doing, You are with us.
Alleluia!
Amen

Attentive
I demonstrate God's love by being attentive.
Today I am attentive to the many ways I can be of service to others. I make time to visit a family member who has been ill or a friend who is grieving. I help a neighbor find a lost pet or attend to a child who needs a special moment of care or attention. I welcome opportunities to be of service, and I am rewarded with experiences that uplift me and others.
I tenderly offer my care, patiently give my time and thoughtfully demonstrate God's love by being attentive to the needs of others. As I serve, I receive even more. Seeing a smile returned fills me with appreciation. Any gift or attention I may have given to another blesses me abundantly in return.
Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.--James 1:17

Friday, November 20, 2009 – Spiritual Surrender
"How many times have we called on God and then ignored the opportunities he sent? Maybe we didn't recognize them because they didn't take the form we expected. Spiritual surrender requires faith, but it also requires paying attention to opportunities and taking action. We need to look to God for guidance, to keep us on the right course, but we can't expect God to kick-start us every morning and deliver breakfast in bed."
~Kathy Cordova
Today's Affirmation
Strengthened by faith, I act upon the opportunities God provides.
Today's Meditation
Dear Mother/Father/God,
I surrender the pictures I have long held of the way I think things should happen.
I surrender the outcomes I have attached to my goals and plans.
I surrender the problems and challenges I have been holding onto by reliving and retelling them over and over.
I surrender my stubbornness and rigidity.
I surrender the pain from the past and fear of the future.
I surrender any outmoded beliefs I still cling to.
I surrender everything that is not part of Your plan for me.
I accept and act on the guidance You provide when I ask.
I say yes to the new life You are creating in and through me.
I say yes to the rebirth of the Christ in me.
I accept Your will as my own and I let it be.
Amen

Pray for Others
I see all people through the eyes of God.
I am easily moved to pray for those I hold dear, especially when one is hurting in some way. "I will pray for you" rolls naturally off my tongue. As I pray, I connect with that individual in Spirit and in love.
It may not come as easily to me to open my heart and pray for those who have treated me or someone else harshly. But I know that every soul deserves the upliftment of prayer. All of us carry a spark of the Christ Light. It is there for me to see if I see as God sees.
When I release any unforgiving thoughts or hostility, I allow God's grace and wisdom to pour through me. As I focus on the goodness in all people, I feel deep compassion. In prayer, I help create a space where all are healed, including me.
Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.--Matthew 5:44

"I have faith in the truth, in its ability to find us.... If the truth often seems elusive when we seek it directly, perhaps it is some consolation that it also relentlessly reveals itself to us in our lives, our dreams, and the stories we tell one another."
~Oriah Mountain Dreamer
Today's Affirmation
I am comforted and confronted by the Truth of God.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
Lift me above the stories that I have woven which are my own interpretations of Truth.
Write Your Truth upon my heart.
Plant Truth in my words and thoughts.
May I know that Truth which will set me free.

Forgive
I am filled with peace as I choose to forgive.
There may be times in my life when I feel I have been wronged by family, friends or coworkers. This is a perception I can either hold on to or change. My perceptions can either pull me down or lift me higher. They can either serve me or limit me--the choice is mine.
I choose today to have a positive perception. I choose to focus on the blessings in my life instead of the hurts or anxieties. I choose to adopt an attitude of forgiveness rather than one of resentment. I choose to release the past, forgive and move forward.
As I forgive, I experience the peace and power of God's love at work in me and in my life. Through forgiveness, I am at one with God, and I am at peace.
Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. Corinthians 2:10

"There are no little events in life, those we think of no consequence may be full of fate, and it is at our own risk if we neglect the acquaintances and opportunities that seem to be casually offered, and of small importance."
~Amelia E. Barr
Today's Affirmation
My mind and heart are open and receptive.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
It is easy to see how or where I missed an opportunity.
A job that was offered and declined or a casual remark that was not recognized for the possibility it contained.
Perhaps I overlooked a detail or failed to follow up on something I thought was insignificant that turned out to be pivotal.
Often, I held so tightly to my image of how things "should" be that I missed the wonder that was in front of me.
If I focus at what I think might have been; I sacrifice here and now.
So, I release the past and whatever thoughts I hold of missing anything.
I am in the perfect place at the absolutely perfect time for me.
I have learned to learn.
I have learned to be open and receptive.
I have learned to be watchful; knowing that the flow of divine ideas never stops.
I have come to believe that You are not finished with me yet.
I feel Your presence pouring into and through me as I open myself completely and surrender.
In the sweet communion of silence, I spread my heart and mind like a canvas and wait to see what picture emerges from Your brush strokes.
I am aware of the masterpiece that You are creating in me now.
Thank You God.

Divine Order
I am at peace in the midst of this divine-order day.
Whether I find myself in a busy home or a thriving workplace, my environment may seem chaotic at times. If I feel stress building within me, I know my perspective needs adjusting. I take a deep breath and quiet my thoughts. As I become centered, I am able to see my experiences differently. I look at my life and the world around me with fresh eyes.
I see divine order at work in the system of life and activity that is flourishing around me. And I am divinely equipped to do what is mine to do. I have the time, talent and resources I need to contribute in meaningful ways. I am centered and calm, peaceful and poised, in the midst of this divine-order day.

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 – No Waiting
"Spiritual seekers look for self-realization or enlightenment in the future. To be a seeker implies that you need the future. If this is what you believe, it becomes true for you: you will need time until you realize that you don't need time to be who you are."
~Eckhart Tolle
Today's Affirmation
I am a spiritual being, a child of the Supreme Consciousness.
Today's Meditation
Holy One,
I once thought it was so cool to define myself as a "seeker" of truth; as if there was a certain path or mystical recipe that would lead me to some place or experience that was better/purer/more holy.
The idea that where I am is true and holy and perfect is radically freeing;
all is in this moment and in this experience.
There are no excuses I can make to myself.
I can be all that I am or hide from myself.
At times, the search for some future perfection was an easy excuse for not being me.
Now is the only time and I choose to be all that I am.
Amen

Willing
With a willing spirit, I express more of my Christ Light each day.
Every change begins with willingness. It is the opening through which I invite more of God's abundance and wisdom into my life.
If I find myself wishing some area of my life were different, I bring this thought to God in prayer. I then ask myself, Am I willing to let go of past hurts and allow God's love to flow through my life? Am I willing to see myself as a perfect child of God, receptive to all of God's good? Am I willing to release limiting thoughts and beliefs and expand my understanding of God's power within me?
As a first step, I say "Yes, I am willing!" Step by step, with a willing spirit, I express more of my Christ Light each day.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit.--Psalm 51:12

Monday, November 16, 2009 – Listening
"Not to react, not to revise or embellish or expound, not even to respond, but simply to listen is a gift. When we are able to be truly silent, to truly listen, then God can speak. This is a discipline.
Mother Teresa points out that what we have to say is never as essential as what God says to us and through us: 'All our words are useless if they do not come from within. Words that do not carry the light of Christ only increase the darkness.' "
~Johan Christopher Arnold
Today's Affirmation
In quiet times I listen and I understand.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
Teach us how to really listen to You.
Teach us how to quiet our minds.
We long for peace and direction, yet seldom still ourselves long enough to experience either condition.
Our lives are so noisy, and we seem to always have something to say about everything.
What do You have to say to us?
May we learn to listen intently with our hearts.
Thank You, God.

Circulate
One with God, I make wise choices.
Honoring the circle of life on planet Earth, I make wise use of resources and protect the environment as part of my spiritual practice.
Like a loving mother, the Earth supports and sustains me. I return that love by reusing and recycling the materials I use. Through the small act of giving something I no longer need to someone who does, I circulate and share my abundance with others.
I hold the planet in prayer, affirming good for all creation and all humanity. I strengthen my affirmation with conscious acts of generosity and responsibility and contribute to the care of planet Earth.

Today's Meditation
Dear God,
For far too long, I clung to the victim story,
I would fuss and complain; brood and ruminate about my circumstances.
One day, for reasons I still don't fully understand, Your love broke through my darkness and I surrendered.
Now, I live in Love knowing that Your strength and peace are mine.
In You, I am a victor.
Your grace is sufficient.

Grace
I am supported by the unconditional love of God.
Mistakes are a natural part of learning--just as falling down is a natural part of learning to walk. But when I make a serious mistake, I may find it hard to forgive myself for what I have said or done.
I cannot make amends if I remain stuck in a cycle of self-blame or criticism. Instead, I remember that God loves me unconditionally. I take responsibility for my actions, and with God's grace, I do my best to resolve the situation. This may require a heartfelt apology, a change in my behavior or another step. I trust God to guide me to the best response.
As I open to the grace of God, I am able to forgive myself and accept God's unconditional love.
Now I commend you to God and to the message of his grace, a message that is able to build you up.--Acts 20:32

Comfort
The love of God is my true source of comfort and strength.
On a cool autumn evening I may enjoy the warmth and comfort of sitting by the fire or sipping a hot cup of tea. The comfort and care I give myself and others are ways in which the love of God is manifest in my life. In these peaceful moments, I understand that I am beloved of God.
To deepen my experience of peace and comfort, I turn within to the silence and immerse myself in God's love and protection. I relax into the divine Presence that is the source of my comfort and strength.

Insight
I am open and receptive to God's wisdom.
If I've asked for something in prayer, I must prepare myself to receive the answer. By opening my mind and heart to whatever the answer may be, I remain receptive to spiritual wisdom. It may come through a conversation with a friend, an informative book or even from the lyrics of a song. I may witness a brilliant sunset or receive a thoughtful drawing from a child. Regardless, I will feel a deep resonance and peace with the answer I receive, a closeness to God, as I realize this message was intended for me.
I connect with God in infinite ways, and I am guided. Remaining conscious of God's presence, I recognize the answer.

Let Go, Let God
My spirit soars as I let go and trust God.
As I step out in faith to do something new and daring, I may feel like a skydiver moments before a jump. When I make the conscious choice to let go of my comfortable surroundings, I may experience a moment of fear. But like the skydiver, my fear is quickly replaced with exhilaration and excitement as I soar through the experience with complete trust. I let go of my fear. God is with me and all is well!

The smell of fresh coffee,
the smile of the clerk at the grocery store,

the honking of Canada geese as they fly overhead,
the warm embrace of a longtime friend,
the way warm water in the shower flows down my back,
the warm feeling of my bed at the end of a long day,
the sight of my freeway exit after a long trip,
my neighbor's new puppy,
sleeping in for an extra half hour,
watching children jostle out of the school bus door,
the crisp November air and the brilliant red leaves on a maple tree.

Dear Mr. Joyner, First of all, Mr. Joyner, I still dearly love and respect you. But again, I have a problem that needs to be addressed by you ASAP: The last time I sent you a question/remark about D. L. Hugley's TV program being canceled, you responded right away. Now that I have written to you about your own "shortcomings" in reference to the Inauguration DAY 2009 website, I get no response at all. This is quite disturbing. Did you not receive it? Do I need to send it again? I do need to hear something from you. In addition, I published the letter on my page of the website so others who are active will know about this initiative. We all need to hear something concrete from you. I realize that you are an extremely hard working man in all that you do -- which is considerable – but it is precisely why we appeal to you for your continued support. Moreover, we believe the site is well worth it. In respect to the detractors you received on the show from the failure of Black voters to participate in the state and local elections yesterday, I did not really blame you as others did -- how could we? But it was nevertheless a reality to observe that you did not bring the strength of your usual impetus to bear upon this election as you did for the presidential one as well as other concerns. Now we can't ignore that fact. You did not send your staff all over the country, as you normally do for these things, etc. But we can still only blame ourselves for our failure to come out in numbers to continue to effect change by participating in the voting process. In fact, to tell you the truth, I myself was so uninterested in the local elections that I did not actually keep up with it, and it was only because of your show’s commentary that I eventually forced myself and get out and vote before the polls closed. But I could only vote for two main positions of my interest because I had no information on the other two, so my vote only “half counted” in a way, and I felt rather ashamed of myself. So you see I do relate to the people who did not go out to vote or thought it was not important at this stage of the game. We just thought that things would take care of themselves. But we were wrong -- AGAIN! Yesterday was INDEED a wake-up call for all of us. But also for you, Tom Joyner. Unfortunately, I have to say that for all of your worth and work, it seems that WE STILL NEED YOU to urge and prompt us to do what we need to do. We have to take our LEADERS wherever we can get them these days, and it appears we have to rely on them until we become leaders ourselves. So please don’t give up on us. We can and still be moved to do the right thing when the time comes – I hope. But often we seem to wait until the last minute to do it. But if you had kept up the interest of the website INAUGURATION DAY 2009 -- or even changed its name to include continual diligence and vigilance on the political forefront, we as a group might have been able to speak out and help in so many ways. PLEASE RESPOND TO MY APPEAL TO YOU FOR CONTINUED SUPPORT. So until I receive a response from you, I believe I shall resend the former message at least once a week until you do. Please understand my concern. And thank you once again.

Magnify
I magnify God's good in my life.
Whatever I focus my thoughts on increases. This is true for all things, wanted and unwanted. Thinking fearful thoughts increases my fear. Focusing on what I love enhances my experience of love.
I magnify all manifestations of good by focusing my thoughts on God. Appreciation is a God-given power tool that magnifies the good in my life. Any time during the day, I can use this tool to reenergize my body, mind and spirit. I appreciate the vitality that flows through my body. I value the clarity of my thoughts and memory. I appreciate the ever-present love of God that lifts my spirits. I am grateful for my ability to magnify God's good in my life.
O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.--Psalm 34:3

Wednesday, November 4, 2009 – Choosing a Path of Abundance
“Good things tend to happen for people who place themselves in the flow of Divine Energy. When we understand that God’s abundance is all around us awaiting our willingness to trigger its energy, we’re opened to new dimensions of opportunity.”
~Ron Scott
Today's Affirmation
Filled with faith, I walk free of all that could limit me.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
I open my mind and heart to Your Spirit of abundance,
and allow Your light to shine in every aspect of my life,
breaking down any obstacle, blockage, hindrance or impediment, filling me with Divine Energy that guides and empowers me, moving me ever in the direction of my Greater Good.
Thank You, Living Loving Spirit.
Amen
