    The day after graduation

     

    It is the day after ground zero (graduation from the Hornets Nest Academy) and I, Cyrus P. Beauregard your humble roaming news reporter from the Hooterville Gazette, is ready to disclose pertinent information that all blue blooded Gawd fearing, Chuck Norris loving Americans are entitled to know, but first, let me put my story into perspective by rehashing how it all began. In the beginning I volunteered for love of Gawd, Country and Guns to become a blind folded participant in a secret program designed to retake our country back from the Liberal, Hitler loving Democratic Party.  At a secret location buried deep in the bowels of Tennessee, the best of the best of the best of born again Conservative reporters were re-indoctrinated to Conservative principles as given to us by our beloved Ronald Reagan.  The overall purpose of the program was to teach loyal members of the right wing press the newest tactics on how to (1) properly disseminate Conservative spin, err…I mean Conservative truth about our country’s first Negroid President, Barrack Hussein Obama and (2) further divide the Democratic Party by befriending our adopted Democratic brethren better known as “The Blue Dog”.   

     

    The Tactics – Day 1

     

    On day 1 we were taught how to terrify wimpy Liberals by brandishing hand guns and shot guns in places that wimpy Liberals like to congregate at.  With the exception of Christian schools, Christian churches and Christian Day Care Centers there ain’t no place we won’t go to without our loaded guns.  Hell we even went to a Liberal library with semi automatic weapons. In order to drive home the point of our lesson, we all participated in a drill which had us chant, “Guns are good” for two hours straight. 

     

    As a surprise for our loyalty to the cause, we members of the press were honored to have former Alaska Governor Sara “you betcha I’m a wolf hunter” Palin and former VP Dick “shoot em in the face” Chaney appear as motivational speakers. The dynamic duo teamed up to instruct our class on how to use new Conservative math as a way of embellishing the actual number of “Tea Party” participants that are bused to targeted Liberal functions as directed by Fox News and reported by Christian news anchors.  Although Sara had problems with placing the decimal behind the right zero, no one seemed to care, mostly because she showed up at the Hornets Nest looking as pretty and devilish (I just love her winks) as ever.

     

    In an exclusive interview granted to yours truly by former GW senior advisor Carl Rove, Rove stated that “All Good and God Fearing Americans will never question statistics that are presented by CNNs Lou Dobbs and Fox Network news anchors (well…except for that traitorous Sheppard Smith).  In fact Rove went on to say that a poll that was sponsored by “The Sons of Willie Lynch Society” and Fox News Sean Hannity, counted using the new and improved Conservative math, 50 million “Tea Party” protestors in Copenhagen, Denmark that were gathered to protest against the Olympics coming to Barry’s hometown of Chicago.

     

    The Tactics – Day 2

     

    On day 2 of our instruction, we were tutored by none other than Orly Taitz, the Queen of the “Birthers Movement”, we members of the right wing press were taught that accepting manufactured Barrack Hussein Obama birth certificates that indicate that Barry was actually born in Cairo, Egypt to include other undesirable places outside of the U.S.A. is good for the Conservative cause and good for America. We were further taught that we should accept all questionable birth certificates as being legitimate source documents; even it comes from Bubba’s and Ethel’s Rib Shack located in Stone Mountain, Georgia.  House Minority Leader John Boehner agreed that telling a fib in the name of expelling that Colored family from the White House is not a sin because Gawd is behind the Conservative movement. In order to drive home the point, we all participated in another re-indoctrination drill which had us chant, “Barrack is a Muslim” for three hours straight. 

     

     

    The Tactics – Day 3, 4, 5 & 6

     

    Day 3 through day 6 we reporters were treated to shots of Tennessee sipping whiskey between lessons on “How to deny being racists”.  Err…after my tenth shot of Jack D, I can’t remember what we were taught.

     

     

    The Blue Dog Democrat

     

    Blue Dogs, Dixie’s Best Friend

     

    Per Pat Buchanan, who is the Dean and Chief Administrator of the Hornet’s Nest, the Democratic Blue Dogs are worth every penny that is paid to them and their families by our Conservative friends who are blessed by Gawd to have substantial off shore banking accounts which provide the Blue Dogs with enough money to forget that they owe their allegiance to Barry and those other Communist Liberal Democrats. The Blue Dogs have completely re-wired the thinking of traditional Democrats by instilling doubts and fears about the President in the Southern and Pacific Northwest communities that currently recognize that Barry is actually Adolf Hitler reincarnated as a Negro. For this service to country the Blue Dogs will always hold a special place in the hearts of men and women who sing “Dixie” and recite the Pledge of Allegiance as they clean their guns and count their ammunition.   

     

    Back to Hooterville

     

     

    As I go back to Hooterville and the newspaper that I love so dearly, I am refreshed in my commitment to report to the world and Neocon America the news in such a manner that would make all Conservatives proud of what the Hornets Nest Academy has accomplished. • Critically think Black people

    How is it that today so many African Americans, perhaps more now than ever before in history, so favorably and adamantly refer to themselves by the derogatory "N" word?   How is it that a word that we as a people once fought so adamantly against is now seen as a favorable term of endearment and empowerment among so many of us?   Why are so many of our male youths now admiring the deplorable behaviors of thugery and pimping?  Moreover, how have Black unity, racial pride, and educational aspiration, once hallmarks of Black identity -especially as so overtly demonstrated during the 1960's- so dramatically declined?  How and when did we African Americans become living contradictions of our former selves?  Do we continue to accept the easy and convenient answer that we as a people merely “just changed” – therefore our admirable cultural traits all merely disintegrated-- when integration and other subsequent opportunities became available?  Are we really to believe that the white race’s unmatched proclivity for racism magically disappeared and that it is only we that are now our own worst enemy? (Our thoughts of contempt has now been turned psychologically inward; it is a common combat strategy to turn a people against themselves)

     Within this same breath the question should also be asked of how and when did the white race become the litmus test and standard for all humanity despite their brutally racist history to the contrary of where of which all other races has been either their enemies or their victims?

    Many people of African descent-- those possessing the mental fortitude to remain psychologically awaken within a white dominated world that wants them asleep-- have pondered upon these very same profound questions their entire lives. They know that there is something going on. Many often can not fully explain it, but have felt it their entire lives like a splinter in their minds that something is terrible wrong.  Rather than partaking within the pathological struggle created by these profound questions this literature will instead reveal the long awaited answer.  It is a terrible truth that many Black people have intuitively always known was happening.

    These profound questions regarding the present state [and apparent mind set] of Black America is not void of a rational and intelligent explanation.  The present state of Black America [as with Blacks else where within a white governed society i.e. the U.K, Canada, etc...] is the result of a governmentally deplored modern method of control.  Although today most African Americans do not experience racism the way their parents experienced it, they do, however, still experience White racism.  White America's practices of economically exploiting and suppressing its Black population were never actually abandoned, but instead sophisticatedly reincarnated. White America's methods of institutional racism has been secretly modified into a more contemporary and stealthy design.

    As a means of  maintaining its white dominance and control over its Black population, the U.S. Government now secretly deliberately disseminates false deplorably racially devaluing statistics and propaganda about its Black population that are deliberately designed to adversely manipulate and shape the minds and collective consciousness of its African American population-- corrupting African Americans sense of unity, cohesion, and reason -- and facilitates a consensual national environment  of where in which its Black population is more easily divided, exploited and ultimately suppressed.  When most people hear the term of psychological manipulation they usually think in terms of the classic "conspiracy theory" that refers to overt mind control such as mind altering drugs with carefully hypnotic programming. However, the real and true dangers are Bernays well proven methods of affecting the unconscious mind by using deception, and psychological manipulation. It is neither magical nor mystical, but a process that involves a set of basic social psychological principles.

    This modern system prevails by using misinformation as a tool to spread false beliefs and fears to influence the masses to ensure that its white dominance and control is maintained. The usage of information is rarely considered when discussing method of emitting white racism; however information is the single most important thing that moves the global economy, influences political regimes, and constructs human behavior. Information management, social engineering, and traffic shaping are the evil crafts of the digital age.  Information is the single most important thing that moves the world economy, influences political regimes, constructs human behavior and, when put together, defines meaningful thoughts. It is a tool of our trade and a powerful ally, but it can also be used as a weapon of mass destruction.

     The constant relentless bombardment with deplorably negative images of themselves that of which African Americans are so inundated with is a very carefully and deliberately designed mass media social manipulation program that subjects African Americans--through a white controlled media --to seeing only the fraudulent worst in themselves. Its unrelenting daily assault on the Black psyche drills the message that Blacks are powerless, of lesser moral, and intelligence and that they need whites to govern over their lives.  It totally detaches African Americans from their sense of power and reality. Moreover, it corrupts African Americans’ sense of racial unity and cohesion, mold the character of self-hatred, engender self-doubt, self-loathing, and distrust among their group while insinuating that Blacks admire, respect, and trust only Whites

     

     Unlike the blatantly overt system of racism used in the past that resulted in African Americans unifying themselves against it, this modern system of racism is not easily recognized or comprehended by its Black victims.   It is so subtle, pervasive, well-organized, complete, and proficient and yet most African Americans are totally unaware of this method of emitting white racism. In fact most African Americans will find it too shocking to contemplate. 

    Nevertheless, it is directly intertwined with the extensive challenges negatively impacting Black America today. It is so well disguised that although many of its Black victims may instinctively feel that there is something wrong, they are however unable to sufficiently conceptualize it so that they can unify and defend themselves against it.  It is so sophisticated that even the very brightest of African Americans may have little, if any hope of extricating themselves from its detrimental effects. 

     Unfortunately for Black America, this modern racist system will not be discontinued by the white elites because of the historic and unprecedented presidency of Barrack Obama alone.  America’s true rulers, the white elites that maintain their powers and status regardless of who is president, merely intends to use this presidency as a global marketing campaign as a means for restoring America's eroded global image and standing in the world.  They will also use it to solidifying their positions of white dominance and control by perpetuating the false hood that America has truly become a fair and equal society thus making all minorities cries for true equality even lesser heard.  

     Unless the masses of Black people are made aware of this modern racist system and unify themselves against it, the white elites will continue to use it against us --even with one Black president.   

    From the perspective of the white elites this action against its Black population is deemed necessary as a means of preserving its White dominance and control. If the U.S. government did not treat its Black population in a manner which promoted maintaining its White dominance and control, it would be diametrically opposed to itself--its white preservation and dominance.  This hidden scenario has always necessitated the U.S. Government to secretly use every conceivable means and opportunity to suppress the advancement and growth of its Black population; even those suppressive methods that contradict its own stated moral and ethical values. [This statement is affirmed by  evidential facts of history’s  Jim crow laws; Tuskegee experiments, Federally funded eugenics program targeting Black birth rates; CIA’s involvement  in  disseminating drugs and high powered weapon into Blacks communities ; Federal enhance sentencing laws that targets Black populations; FBI COINTEL programs that negatively targeted  Black enhancement programs and groups.]

     

    Through this sophisticated media deployed psychosocial program African Americans are perpetually misled and manipulated by way of fraudulent negative media reports and false statistics that are designed to corrupt their sense of unity

    This psychological manipulation program works by affecting the unconscious mind through deception. It uses the psychology of deceit to adversely affect the recipient group in terms of their behavior. To the detriment of many African Americans, it has been an extremely effective. It has successfully conditioned many African Americans to accept the dominance of Whites and white institutions over their lives by misleading them to believe that they are, themselves, their own worst enemies, therefore engendering an aberration of internalized self contempt that pulverizes Black unity and halts Black upward mobility. It is at the root of both the profound division and self hatred now afflicting so many Black Americans and is at the heart of internalized feelings of superiority that many whites possess.

     

    IT ALSO ENGINEERS CONSENT FOR THE MISTREATMENT OF BLACK PEOPLE

    . Not only does this massive governmental psychological manipulation campaign negatively impacts Blacks self perceptions, it also lesson pressure for social change in their behalf thus facilitating a national consensual setting for their easier exploitation and suppression. This media driven psychosocial program  conveniently provides a more socially acceptable and covert means of ensures that the masses of African Americans remains the most racially devalued and most economical exploited and suppressed group in America. 

    The media’s constantly depicted deplorable imagery of Black Americans creates a shift of victimization that changes the root problem of racism in America to be due to Black’s behavior rather than White’s proclivity for racism. Therefore engendering increasingly prejudiced distorted perceptions and acrimonious beliefs about African Americans that are designed to makes the nation and the entire world insensitive to their plight, tranquilizes efforts on their behalf, lessens pressure for social change on their behalf, and makes any serious criticism of White racism almost impossible today. Therefore fostering a national setting of where in which Blacks are more easily exploited and ultimately consensually suppressed. It also creates a false justification for the legal system’s mistreatment of African Americans wherein they are disproportionately incarcerated, given stiffer sentences, and are more likely than other racial groups to be treated brutally, beaten, and fired upon by police officers while they are unarmed. These injustices now goes ignored because the perception has subconsciously become that it’s all now justified.  When contempt of Blacks is made to appear to be justifiable, it is the fiercest and most effective type of racism because its witnesses, bystanders, and even world audiences will sit by idly allowing African Americans to be brutally mistreated under the belief that it is justified. This method of control and suppression is based upon the methods of propaganda techniques of renowned psychologist and United States propaganda specialist Dr. Edward Bernays. This is what mass manipulation propaganda specialist Dr. Edward Bernays referred to as “engineering consent”. 

    The effects of this social program are also manifested in ideas, education, governmental policies, economic stratification, social segregation, housing markets, hiring and promotion practices, psychological issues, and minority access to a variety of social services and opportunity. It also affects attitudes that when enacted through governmental policies, laws, and other legislation actions, serve to ensure that African Americans will not advance.  Through the usage of mass psychological manipulation White America’s methods of institutionalized racism has been secretly modified into a more sophisticated and stealthy design. Unfortunately to the detriment of many African Americans this modern system of deploying white racism has been very proficient.  Some studies have shown that this social program has engendered increasingly acrimonious beliefs and prejudiced perceptions about and against African Americans that are arguably stronger today than they were after emancipation.

    This is not an attempt to shirk our own personal responsibilities as Black people but is instead a truth that needs to be recognized and address if Black people are to be apart of the future. This present stated of Black America is the results of this detrimental social engineering program.

    Because this literature exposes the profound dimensions of hidden, conspiratorial racism that secretly still exists at governmental levels in the United States, these are therefore very dangerous areas that the author is exploring.  For if this disclosure was to become better known among African Americans, the U.S. Government would most certainly initiate a national campaign of spin control and coverage through the national media and the Internet with experts lined up to dispute its premise.  The reason of why is because this article offers the truth for those who will listen for it.  The many problems now facing Black America will not be corrected by implementing outdated strategies of foot marches, speeches, or the commemoration of fallen Black martyrs.  We can also no longer survive as a race addressing this modern system of racism using nineteen century strategies.  Nor will these problems be corrected by the preaching of scriptures from any of our religious texts but instead only by exposing and addressing this modern covert system of control that I refer to as the “Black Matrix”. It is the fiercest and most lethal system of institutionalized racism now facing Black America.  A reality of truth must prevail if we Black people are to be a part of the future. We can no longer survive as a race hanging on to given white misinformation used to confuse, divide, exploit and ultimately suppress us as a means of maintaining their white dominance. 

    We Africans and African descendants throughout the world must educate our selves about what is really going on. This understanding is in fact extremely imperative if Black people are to be a part of the future. In order for Black people to acquire real positive change within the entire global community it is imperative that we understand how white racism has sophisticatedly evolved and then confront it unrelentingly.

Is this not the lie that was told through history, that they fled England to be free to worship as they saw fit. That was the reasoning behind the separation of church and state. The rethugs continually intertwine religion and politics  and hate. They live in some kind of alternate  reality (The Real America). The one in their own minds, The ones that Rush Limbaugh and Hannity and Beck spin for them. The Pat Buchanan’s and their like. The puppet Toms and Tomettes that they have still sharing the house with them. They won’t admit that the whole that makes up the Rethugs  party is a joke and they never had a clue how to make the country work for anyone but that 1%, Some are still under the illusion that these people as a group know what morals are. At Ann Coulter’s mother and father funerals all she talked about was the Democrats, and hawking her books, Bristol Palin an unwed mother held up to be somebody. The exposure of all of this is a plus. We can now identify the Haters and their enabler’s. Like Alan Keys, Michael Steel and it seems the entire repugnant party. And we should always  be diligent in calling them out.

• The Stimulus Plan

    I am here in Indiana and watched the Elkhart visit on TV.  I thought it was a brilliant move to come here and go to Florida -- straight with no chaser or media spin, unfiltered and effective.  As citizens we need to get on the phone and/or the e-mail and let Congress know who has the power: The citizens of this country have the real power.  We can sit on the sidelines, do nothing, but we better not say a word about what comes from passivity.  OR we can e-mail and call our Congress representative and let them know where we stand.

I am glad the Congressional votes to pass the stimulus bill are there, I am uncomfortable with the reality that these people, who have no real financial worries, who were hired by the very people they are betraying, don't seem to have a problem sacrificing a nation of people in order to strengthen the Republican party, to continue with these immature temper tantrums because this was not their idea, and determination to wreck the structure of the stimulus, so that they can say "See, I told you so." 'We hold as the arbiters of truth, those who have lied to us the most.' -- Dr. Amos Wilson These people are not economists, so you'll pardon me when I say that just complaining about the content, without offering a superior alternative, is just useless.  Going forward, will we have to continually press upon those who were elected to simply do their job in representing us?
    
     
    My mantra of the day: I am asking again: The original stimulus plan was developed using a team of top economists, who have the credentials to develop the right recipe for success. The chipping away at the recipe by a bunch who neither the credentials nor the knowledge to put together a better plan OR a better solution, only egos following the not-my-idea plan of action, is this how we fix the problem for the citizens? • King and Obama: The Connectio

    "I'm a church man…And I kind of figured this here is about like it was with Moses with the children of Israel," admitted James Presley of Sledge, Mississippi to the McClatchey Press last December.
    
    I can’t discount Mr. Presley’s feeling. It has been some 40-years since the Civil Rights Movement was short circuited by Dr. King’s assassination leaving African Americans in limbo. Throughout the years there seemed an un-ending search for a suitable black leader. From Jesse Jackson and Colin Powell to TV personalities like Tavis Smiley, black and white America searched until the 2003 Democratic National Convention when a young senator from Illinois named Barack Hussein Obama spoke to the nation. The rest is pretty ordinary until the Eclipse of August 2008 (see Slide 1 below) gave us our first black president.

    In the months and days leading up to the inauguration, many Americans echoed Mr. Presley’s sentiment and began pointing to similarities between President Barack Hussein Obama (BHO) and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK, Jr.) as well as Moses and Joshua from the Bible’s First Testament. Many liken Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. to Moses and Joshua to Barack Hussein Obama.
    
    Oddly, it does seem as if President Obama much like Joshua was standing in the right place at the right time. Frankly, it does seem as if his purpose is to lead a people across a great divide. Unlike Joshua, Obama’s greatest foe isn’t an army of men, but a nation suffering from mis-perception in desperate need of change.
    
    Strangely, the black press has stepped back from what folks like James Presley see as obvious. Why only a few weeks ago, the Reverend Al Sharpton, widely known for his political activism on behalf of the citizens of New York, weighed in on the question. He attempted an explanation during the Tom Joyner Morning Show (TJMS) and quickly pointed to the obvious -- that President Obama is a politician while Dr. King was a reverend. "Obama would not exist had there not been a King," offered Reverend Sharpton.
    
    With all due respect to Reverend Sharpton, I can’t believe he side stepped the grand opportunity to provide a spiritual explanation to simple folk like James Presley on Obama’s assent to the presidency. Now don’t get me wrong, Reverend Sharpton is a very smart man who has had the benefit of years of theological training including history, archaeology, and world religions. But this doesn’t erase the fact that good, well meaning, God fearing common folk like James Presley are looking to men like Reverend Sharpton for an answer to justify their feeling that some sort of biblical divine covenant has been reached between a people and their God.
    
    So, like any good astrologer, I pulled up Barack Hussein Obama and Martin Luther King, Jr.’s charts and took a look (see Slide 2 below).

    Lo and behold I uncovered an astrological explanation for the simplistic down to earth feelings folks like Mr. Presley have about why the paths of Dr. King and President Obama appear connected.
    
    Here are a few observations I gathered from the analysis of Dr. King and President Obama’s synastry charts. They are:
    
    (1) When Dr. King’s journey on his road ended, he had a dirth of excess blessings on reserve (banked) for the right soul. But in 1968 future President Barack Hussein Obama was attending elementary school and not ready to receive King’s blessing. A crossing of fates had to be achieved. A simple visual analysis of the astrological charts in synastry of King and Obama can confirm that this indeed occurred. King’s North Node or Dragon’s Head lands smack dead in the middle of Obama’s first house and conjuncts Obama’s Moon. Obama may very well have modeled his personality, style and appearance after a father figure who he imagined and dreamed to be a lot like King.
    
    (2) I offer that the charts in synastry indicate that King and Obama were brothers in past lives. In fact Slide 2’s synastry charts had so many connections I would go as far as say this is more likely a fact.
    
    (3) Lastly, I offer that the charts in synastry show that King and Obama share a similar mission. King started it and Obama just picked up where King left off and moved forward. In western business culture they call this a finish to start relationship. In other words, King had to finish before Obama could start. This also explains the 40 year time lag? The time lag is due to the fact that King’s message had to set or rather solidify for African Americans, Women, Gays, Americans with Disabilities – everyone. Like Joshua, only when America was ready to fight for the civil rights of every man, woman, and child could a man like Obama vie for the presidency. The nation had to be cleansed and healed of its overt forms of disparity before someone like Obama could participate in a national election and win fair and square (see Slide 3 below for Timeline).

    How does a non-astrologer like James Presley see these things so clearly?
    
    James Presley was probably able to:
    
    (1) Approach the topic with an open mind from a biblical perspective;
    (2) Reference his unwavering trust in a higher power, like God as well as Saints and Angels;
    (3) Believe that for everything there is a season, and
    (4) Trust the work of his ancestors. Our Ancestors who wrote the bible also worked out astronomical and astrological systems that can predict the timing of events.
    
    Today, there are only remnants of the systems our ancestors used to predict events. A good example of a remnant still going strong is the Farmers Almanac. It’s still published and widely read in North America, but it is only a remnant of the old methods of prediction successfully employed by slave and slave owner alike to survey, settle, farm and ranch the United States.
    
    In my 2009 analysis of the King and Obama charts, I use some of the old remnants which include the astronomical events of our Moon. As stated in previous blogs, throughout the ages the Moon has been a better than accurate predictor of fateful events. Our ancestors used the Moon to predict the best time to plant, the next year’s weather, storms, change in seasons, times of travel, times of birth as well as the rise and fall of empires. For instance, The Rise of Obama series was created as a result of findings I uncovered after careful analysis of the Eclipse of August 2008 involving our Sun and Moon. Solar and Lunar eclipses and most notably the Moon’s orbits, shadows, and phases are considered astronomical phenomena and I believe that when read astrologically the Moon can show how people will be affected by events on earth.
    
    One easy way of looking at astronomical phenomena is as a transportation system like a railway. At certain times trains (astronomical phenomena) full of tourists (Saints and Angels) show up with bags of “blessings” and “answers” both good and bad for the present, future and past.
    
    For the purposes of building a better understanding among non-astrologers, I’m going to make an attempt at creating a fable. I call this fable “The Astronomical Making of a Man’s Mission.”
    
    The Astronomical Making of a Man’s Mission
    
    Right now we have a bunch of tourists (Saints and Angels) coming in at Earth Station North anxiously looking for a relative or an associate they haven’t seen in a few decades. Well, before many of them depart from the station, they crowd into telephone booths and computer kiosks only to discover that their relative has passed on or is just not in the position to receive the bag of blessings. So, many of our tourists (Saints and Angels) do an about face and head to Earth Station North’s Customer Service for help. The Customer Service Reps explain to the tourists how, in most cases, the blessings will go to the next worthy soul. But sometimes that worthy soul hasn’t been born yet or is not ready. In these cases, the Customer Service Rep recommends the blessings to be stored in a sort of Angel-Saint Savings and Loan or blessing bank.
    
    Now just like there are millions of stars in the universe, there are many ways an Angel or Saint who finds a worthy soul can discharge a blessing. This is where a blessing type comes into play. Is it an isolated blessing like a miracle? Is it a one time window of opportunity? Is it part of the fated contract at birth? If it is part of the fated contract at birth with a bunch of what ifs attached to it, the tourist Angels tend to shy away from the planets. They’d rather employ the power of elliptical orbits that cross age old points, angles, and lines in the sky. The most widely used in the west are the Arabic Part of Fortune, The Vertex, and the Moon’s Nodes. The first choice is the Arabic Part of Fortune. She is good for miracles and other one time events. However, the Arabic Part of Fortune has a lot of rules having to do with partners and timing. There’s always the risk that the recipient could miss their intended blessing. The second is the Vertex but she may have a long wait time due to the fact that she requires a driver in order to be effective. While waiting she can lay dormant or spin up some pretty negative events and few Angels want all that. The third is the Moon’s Nodes. The Nodes are two guys named Dragon’s Head and Dragon’s Tail. One side is good, the other has a twist. Like the ocean tides, once every few hours the Moon’s Nodes re-position providing Angels and Saints an opportunity to discharge a varied range of blessings. Of course, because of the Nodes flexibility they have a long line -- but it’s moving!
    
    At this point, I’m going to see if I can capture what may have taken place when a tourist Angel, looking for Martin Luther King, Jr. discovers that King has passed on. He’s made it from the Customer Service Desk to the queue for the Moon’s Nodes.
    
    “Next” a voice calls out through a fog to a group of Angels. They all look over their shoulders and around piles of bags and satchels wondering who is next?
    
    “I think it’s you” points a tall rotund man in a Persian style turban to a thin man in a toga wearing a laurel wreath around his head. After a moment or two of nervous squinting and arm flailing our toga clad fellow yells out “Yes, Yes!” But he is unsure of whether to walk straight or turn right or left.
    
    “Step right this way,” the voice directs. Miraculously a short thin man in a red cap and a blue military style jacket with gold toned buttons appears at the toga clad Angel’s side to assist with his bags. The red capped man points the toga clad Angel into the fog. The toga clad Angel nods in response and steps hesitantly forward.
    
    “Right this way,” the voice guides.
    
    After a few steps through the thick fog the toga clad Angel sees a figure. It’s a man in a beige baseball cap. He’s seated at a glass desk in front of a wall of clear water. “Oh thank the heavens, it’s the clerk,” he whispers in prayer clasping his hands together. “I remember you,” the clerk announced pointing a pencil at the toga clad Angel. “You showed up here late for John Kennedy in 1964 and we ended up giving half his blessings to Lyndon Johnson and Martin Luther King, Jr.”
    
    “I was not late,” responded the Angel indignantly.
    
    “Rest your feet,” directed the man pointing his pencil at a folding chair. “So who’re ye here for?”
    
    “Martin Luther King, Jr.” the Angel announced proudly.
    
    “Ar ya serious?” asked the clerk.
    
    “What madness is this…?"
    
    “No madness,” the clerk replied in a chuckle. “But Martin Luther King, Jr. has been dead for some forty years and the last I heard he was volunteering as a Saint in Chicago.”
    
    “A saint!”
    
    The clerk pushed his chair back and turned facing the wall of flowing water. After a moment or two he waves his right hand horizontally back and forth across the flow.
    
    “What do you see?” asked the Angel.
    
    “A man who wants to be president. He is very good at finding common ground between people who don’t like each other. The language used is very different but the mission is the same.”
    
    “In war!”
    
    “No, in peace.”
    
    “Aaaah!” responded the Angel. “Such a man regardless of his position is deserving of these gifts.”
    
    “Huuuumm!” pondered the clerk. “But peace doesn’t feed people, or bring rains, or stop the earth from trembling. These are some of the world’s big problems.”
    
    “You’re right God does all that” piped the toga clad Angel. “ Peace just allows beings like me to finish their work! Now young man, when can I discharge my goods?”
    
    “August”…answered the clerk. The clerk’s image changed briefly to that of Father Time. This startled the toga clad Angel who sat back in his chair. Father Time then slowly turned back to the image of the clerk and began starring into the water. “Yes… August 1, 2008…there’s an eclipse… a Node, a Saint…it’ll work!”
    
    The Angel, realizing that he was in the presence of a great one leaned forward cautiously and nodded in humble approval.
    
    “You’ve got a 36-hour wait, ” explained the clerk. “I’ll give you a pass to the Lion’s Den and…”
    
    “Biggie!!” a voice boomed from behind the clerk. A man resembling a very young and slim version of Brad Pitt emerged and without warning leapt toward the toga clad Angel.
    
    “What madness is this…” screamed the toga clad Angel.
    
    “Tupak, Tupak take yer hands offa that man, yeu don know him,” scolded the clerk.
    
    The man the clerk referred to as Tupak stood up, withdrew and stared at the toga clad Angel whose headband of laurel sat lopsided and wilted upon his head.
    
    “I’ve done it again, I’m sorry sir a…a…”
    
    “I am Arcturus the 22nd” answered the Angel as he straightened his head laurel, rubbed his neck, and brushed dust from his toga.
    
    “Tupak!” exclaimed the clerk in stern warning. Tupak crouched down low and faded from sight.
    
    “Yes sir Mr. Arctorfus the 22nd step this way” said the clerk in a gentle tone seemingly undisturbed by the interruption. He rose from his desk and step around to the first Angel and extended his hand to help him up from his seat. “This way now. I’ll point you to the main Kiosk for the Lions Den. My assistant will carry your bags over. All you have to do is give them this pass and they’ll take it from there.”
    
    The Angel Arcturus took the pass and quickly uttered prayers for what occurred between the clerk, the strange man called Tupak and himself. He then looked straight into the clerk’s eyes. “Just give him a mission and he will be whole again. “
    
    “It is not my will,” responded the clerk as he guided the first Angel into the fog. As Arcturus stepped forward, he heard the clerk call out some feet behind him: “Next!”
    
    Arcturus the 22nd, made his way confidently through the thick fog as directed by the clerk. After the 12th step the fog began to clear again. Soon he was able to make out a white gazebo. As he drew nearer he could hear voices. He detected some distress in the tones. It seemed that there was a dispute going on.
    
    “Sir, may I remind you that I am General Goethals and I’m here to escort General Eisenhower on a pleasure trip to Hawaii.”
    
    “You are not listening. You must go back through to the clerk and get a new pass,” pleaded another man. This one appeared as a young brown haired man fashioning a pony tail and a saber. Oddly, he was dressed in a long sleeve oversized white tee shirt, beige cargo paints, and sneakers. “This pass is no good for the Lions Den. It’s expired. Besides, General Eisenhower is not here!”
    
    As soon as the Angel Arcturus approached, the man calling himself General Goethals faded from sight much like the Tupak fellow. In fact, he thought they looked the same.
    
    “Welcome!” the pony tailed man bowed low, rose, clicked his heels and extended his hand. “Your pass please?”
    
    Arcturus handed over his pass and watched as the pony tailed clerk examined it intently. “Please step this way,” he instructed leading Arcturus through the gazebo into a lush garden restaurant teeming with plants, flowers and wide screen TVs with headphones. Arcturus could see a bar in the foreground where a bartender was busy taking orders from waiters. All the tables were round with glass tops. They were garden tables with small telephones in the middle of them. All the tables were spaced generously allowing for extra wide chairs and ottomans. Several Angels who had arrived earlier were already snoozing -- a few with mouths gaped open. Judging from the mounds of food and empty glasses of wine, there was little wonder why this behavior was so pervasive.
    
    The pony tailed man guided Arcturus to his table. “Here we are,” he explained clasping his hands and winking. “You have a 36-hour lay over before your event. The wait staff will bring you anything you’d like. The extra chairs and telephone are for visitors who will be collaborating with you on the event. If you need anything or have any questions our wait staff is equipped to assist you. Welcome to the Lion’s Den Angel Arcturus the 22nd and enjoy your stay.”
    
    Arcturus the 22nd sat for a while undisturbed taking in his Eden like surroundings. He had nearly drifted off to sleep when a waiter appeared.
    
    “Mr. Arcturus sir,” he said politely bowing low enough to expose the crown of his head where the hair was just beginning to thin. “My name is Slomenivic and I will be serving you today." He handed Arcturus a menu and explained what the specials were as well as the events that would occur. He wrote every request down and he seemed to appear instantaneously with food, drink, as well as incoming messages and reports. For some hours Arcturus was allowed to snooze. Angels don’t usually sleep but this was Earth Station North – odd things were not a surprise.
    
    A day later the waiter appeared to gently wake Arcturus. “Your first member is here. It’s the Saint’s Dragon’s Head. He’s straight with the details he just wants to meet you.”
    
    This happened repeatedly until the actual Saint appeared with another Angel called Guardian representing the Moon. It seemed as if they all had met before. They laughed and talked like old friends – but they weren’t. It may be another century before they all get the chance to meet again. The waiter brought wine and they toasted to this possibility as the countdown to the Eclipse of August 2008 began. The Saint left first to take his position and the Saint’s Node returned for his position was to sit with Arcturus. The Guardian representing the Moon departed next for his place was with the recipient. Arcturus was getting nervous it was time he opened his bag.
    
    “Here it is!” Arcturus exclaimed raising an old, worn brown leather satchel.
    
    “Do you think we’ll make a difference this time,” asked the Saint’s Dragon Head.
    
    “It’s a slightly different approach,” explained Arcturus. “But I’m sure we’ll make a difference.”
    
    Suddenly, the lights in the Lion’s Den dimmed – The Eclipse had arrived. Arcturus opened the satchel and a small spark of starlight flew out tapping the Saint’s Dragon Head on the shoulder and roaming slowly around the Lion’s Den. Then without warning the starlight took off at the speed of light traveling to each member of the Arcturus team positioned on Earth and in the Heavens. When light finally emerged from behind the Moon marking the end of the Eclipse, the starlight raced toward it and blended in with the Sun's rays racing toward North America (see Slide 4 below).

    Arcturus and the Saint’s Dragon Head jumped and dance around in glee.
    
    “Thank you, it will be different. I just know it!” exclaimed the Saint’s Dragon Head.
    
    At that moment the pony tailed man and the red capped man appeared to collect Arcturus and his bags.
    
    Arcturus bid his friend farewell and wiped a tear from his eye.

    Just like when we were kids, sometimes a simple fable or two helps foster simple understandings. Maybe The Rise of Obama is just like what James Presley described when he told the media he saw Obama “like it was with Moses and the children of Israel.” Maybe it’s like Joshua? Maybe it’s like King? All I know is that the heavens have a way of re-cycling old blessings to fill a need.
    
    Personally, I don’t believe Obama is like Moses, Joshua or King even though historical similarities exist. Frankly, I wouldn’t want Obama to lead us to a dead end in the desert for forty years, or into a war to kill every living soul because he made the Sun and the Moon stand still (by the way this was probably an eclipse). Similarly, I wouldn’t want Obama as a spiritual leader in the same manner as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. King’s mission was unique. He was charged with changing the psychological mindset of a defeated people so they could stand up, challenge and change a nation’s culture and laws for the betterment of everyone. Anyone watching VH1 today can see how much circumstances have changed. My hope is that Obama’s rise will grow to foster understanding and trust among world leaders. Imagine a planet where world leaders really trusted the United States. Do you war with those you trust?
    
    Yes, like in the case of Joshua, the Sun and the Moon seem to stand still long enough to bless Obama with the U.S. Presidency. If the Eclipse of August 2008 unleashed certain blessings fostering a miracle, my hope is that the miracle will continue to trample mis-perception and spawn constructive change for us all.

    Have you ever been in a relationship where you did everything you could to make it work only to finally realize the one or ones you have done everything for to make it work with had their own agendas all along or that they just aren't as principled as you are or that they wanted to be like you so much that they thought that if they ignored their own baggage it would somehow disappear. People only know what you tell them as truth, when there is no paper trail. President Obama is human, not a Messiah; no crystal balls in the oval office.

     The President gave a speech tonight. Time for us to get more involved. If you have people in Washington who are not representing the people who put them in office, and are playing childish games because they don't get to run things the way they used to, you should give them a call and remind them who put them there. They work for you, and your friends and neighbors. Make sure they are allocating the money directly to the mayors, not the governors. If your governor is like mine, then he or she has no intention of using the money the way it was intended and will then blame the president because the stimulus did not work after it's all gone.
    I have had enough of political spin by the media, the sniping over inconsequential issues, the false stories designed to detract, the old guard in Washington with the self-righteous rhetoric, who haven't delivered anything significant to their constituents in their entire careers. The good old boys club needs to realize the party is over. Time for grown ups to show up and take responsibility instead of a bunch of people holding their collective breaths until they turn blue.

    GETTING MARRIED SHOULDN'T BE ONLY 'FOR WHITE PEOPLE'

    President-elect Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, are members of a minority: They are a black married couple.

    Wed 16 years in October, the Obamas conceived their two daughters, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, after the wedding. While traditional couplehood such as the Obamas' is losing popularity in every corner of the country, it has all but disappeared in black America, where more than 70 percent of children are born outside marriage.

    In 2006, The Washington Post published an op-ed essay by writer Joy Jones with the provocative headline, "Marriage is for White People." The headline didn't reflect Jones' views; it repeated "what one of my students told me some years back when I taught a career exploration class for sixth-graders at an elementary school in southeast Washington (D.C.).

    "I think I'll invite some couples in to talk about being married and rearing children," she told the class." 'Oh, no,' objected one student. 'We're not interested in the part about marriage. Only about how to be good fathers.' And that's when the other boy chimed in ... 'Marriage is for white people.'"

    Spelman students sparkle in sciences

    Atlanta women’s college No. 2 in sending black graduates on to Ph.D.s in fields such as math, chemistry

    Which Atlanta institution produces the most African-American graduates who go on to earn doctoral degrees in science and engineering?

    a) Morehouse College

    b) Georgia Tech

    c) Emory University

    The answer is d) None of the above. That distinction goes to Spelman College — a small, historically black, private liberal arts college for women.

    Spelman, with a student body of about 2,200, sent 150 black students on to Ph.D. degrees in those traditionally male disciplines from 1997 to 2006, according to a survey released in August by the National Science Foundation. That’s more than any other undergraduate program in the country except the much larger, coed Howard University, with 224. Howard, also historically black, has about 7,000 undergraduates.

    Islamist radicals face a dilemma: with a progressive prosident in the White House, how will their ideas survive?

    You can almost hear the groans in the caves on the Afghan-Pakistan border. "What's going on?! Why can't they just keep rendering and torturing people?!"

    A couple of years ago, the battle between American and al-Qaida propagandists for the Muslim world's hearts and minds was an easy one for Osama Bin Laden's men. The group didn't have to do much apart from point out all those instances of death, destruction and torture that showed how what America said bared little resemblance to what it did.

    Barack Obama's victory challenges the perceptions that form the foundation of al-Qaida's worldview, and it has left its supporters a little confused. The group's propaganda plays up the idea that the US is run by a coalition of rich, white, self-serving businessmen and politicians who use the word "freedom" to persuade the poor to fight for them.

    In a message posted on the Counterterrorism Blog in January, al-Qaida's Adam Gadahn repeated some of the organisation's favourite themes: "Muslims, of course, are much better acquainted [than the American public] with what is right and who the victim is and realise that right isn't whatever is said, done and commanded by Western presidents, prime ministers, and televangelists.

    "Muslims know what true values are… like liberating oneself and others from oppression, like honour, dignity and self-respect, like chastity and moral uprightness, like truth in word and deed, like showing mercy to the innocent, defenceless, and helpless, and fighting for them, and like giving one's life for these values."

    Russian president eager to talk with Obama

    WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that a "crisis of confidence" exists between Russia and the United States but that he has "great aspirations" for the incoming Obama administration.

    Medvedev, in Washington for the G-20 economic summit, said he hoped to meet with President-elect Barack Obama soon.

    "We have that understanding," he said.

    Medvedev has expressed concern that a U.S. missile-defense program that would put radar and missiles in the Czech Republic and Poland would threaten Russia.

    Medvedev announced this month that Russia would place short-range ballistic missiles near its border with Poland, in Kaliningrad, to defend Russia from the U.S. missiles. The State Department had responded by calling the announcement "disappointing."

    However, Medvedev backpedaled from the statement last week and continued to do so Saturday, saying Russia "really does not want to deploy anything." He added that Russia "will not do anything until the U.S. takes the first step."

    Medvedev said Russia and the U.S. have to agree on a global system to protect against rogue states and that he is ready to discuss it with the new president.

    From California to Maine, police have documented a range of alleged crimes, from vandalism and vague threats to at least one physical attack. Insults and taunts have been delivered by adults, college students and second-graders.

    There have been "hundreds" of incidents since the election, many more than usual, said Mark Potok, director of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate crimes.

    American TV presenter/producer DON CORNELIUS has been charged with spousal abuse, dissuading a witness from filing a police report and assault with a deadly weapon, following a dispute with his wife.

    On Friday (14Nov08) the Los Angeles City Attorney charged him with five misdemeanour offences, including three counts of abusing Victoria.

    Congo rebel leader promises to back UN efforts

    JOMBA, Congo – Congo's main rebel leader promised a U.N. envoy Sunday to support a cease-fire and U.N. efforts to end the fighting, and the diplomat said he hoped the warring sides would hold peace talks in Kenya.

    As more heavy fighting was reported in eastern Congo, the envoy, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, met with rebel leader Laurent Nkunda for the first time, after talking in recent days with President Joseph Kabila and the leader of neighboring Angola.

    Obasanjo flew by helicopter to the rebel-held town of Jomba, near the Ugandan border, and was greeted with a hug by the gray-suited Nkunda. After a two-hour meeting in a church compound, Obasanjo said the rebel leader agreed to maintain a fragile cease-fire in the Central African nation.

    "(But) cease-fire maintenance is like dancing tango. One does not dance tango alone," Obasanjo noted.

    In Transition, Tangle of Ties to Lobbying

    WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama has imposed stricter conflict-of-interest restrictions on his White House transition team than any president before him. But a list of transition team members that his office made public on Friday includes a complicated tangle of ties to private influence-seekers.

    Among the full roster of about 150 staff members being assigned to government agencies between now and Inauguration Day are dozens of former lobbyists and some who were registered as recently as this year. Many more are executives and partners at firms that pay lobbyists, and former government officials who work as consultants or advisers to those seeking influence.

    After campaigning on promises to end the influence of lobbyists in the White House, Mr. Obama has imposed rules that bar officials on his transition team from handling any issues in areas of policy where they have lobbied over the last 12 months or from seeking to influence the same agencies for the next 12 months.

    You may remember Donald Friedman, who claims that government agencies are misusing non-lethal directed-energy weapons. It’s easy to dismiss him as a crank. But his obsessive digging has turned up valuable information. For instance, one of his Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests unearthed a 1998 U.S. Army program looking at a microwave device to beam sound directly into the target's skull which the rest of us had missed. (The same technology underlies the Medusa non-lethal weapon.)

    Republican strategist Mike Paul accused Pat Buchanan of a personal attack while appearing on MSNBC’s Hardball Thursday. Paul had been explaining that recently defeated Republicans needed to be more inclusive as a Party.

    Buchanan disagreed, “I would love to get all the young voters and African-American voters, if you tell me how to do it other than talk about a big tent.”

    “I’m saying we need to examine ourselves first,” Paul explained.

    “Why don’t you examine yourself?” snapped Buchanan.

    While Paul accused Buchanan of a “personal attack,” he seemed too upset to remember Buchanan’s exact words. “You’ll have to look back at the transcript,” said Paul.

    Vt. town grows divisible over Pledge of Allegiance

    WOODBURY, Vt.(AP)

    No one is sure when daily recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance fell by the wayside at Woodbury Elementary School.

    But efforts to restore them have erupted into a bitter dispute in this town of about 800 residents, with school officials blocking the exercise from classrooms over concerns that it holds children who don't participate up to scorn.

    U.S. schoolchildren have long been able to opt out of reciting the pledge for religious reasons. But unlike other pledge controversies, this one centers on how and where schoolchildren say it, not whether they should.

    "The whole thing is tearing our community apart," said Heather Lanphear, 39, the mother of a first-grader and an opponent of reciting the pledge in the classroom.

    The brouhaha in the Vermont school began in September, when parent Ted Tedesco began circulating petitions calling for the return of pledge recitation as a daily practice in the 19th-century schoolhouse, which has 55 children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

    School officials agreed to resume it as a daily exercise, but not in the classroom.

    "We don't want to isolate children every day in their own classroom or make them feel they're different," said Principal Michaela Martin.

    Alan Keyes files suit over Obama citizenship question

    Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes and other members of his American Independent Party have filed suit in California Superior Court in Sacramento to stop the state from giving its electoral votes to President-elect Barack Obama.

    The suit contends that Secretary of State Debra Bowen and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger shouldn't be allowed to certify last week's election results for electors until Obama or his supporters provide proof of his natural-born citizenship in the United States.

    Conservative bloggers maintained during the presidential election that Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii, and had citizenship in other countries, thus disqualifying him from the presidency.

    Groups such as FactCheck.org investigated the claims and determined that Obama had a valid birth certificate from Hawaii.

    It was not clear Friday evening how soon the suit would get a court hearing.

    Audit: Sharpton campaign owes US nearly $500,000

    WASHINGTON – Federal auditors have concluded the Rev. Al Sharpton's 2004 campaign owes the government nearly $500,000 for illegal donations and other financial improprieties. Sharpton has been feuding with the Federal Election Commission for years over his accounting in his failed run for president, for which he received $100,000 in so-called government matching funds that authorities later concluded he did not deserve because he hadn't followed campaign laws.

    The auditors have now determined that Sharpton owes $486,803 to the U.S. Treasury because of his campaign's taking improper donations, largely from the National Action Network, a not-for-profit corporation that Sharpton leads but is separate from his campaign committee.

    Sharpton will appeal the finding, aides said Friday, which would extend an already years-long fight with the government over how he raised and spent money to run for president.

    The audit report is "a gross violation of Reverend Al Sharpton's right to perform his paid duties as president of the National Action Network, a traveling minister, lecturer, and an author who was promoting a book during the time period being audited," said his spokeswoman, Rachel Noerdlinger.

    Sharpton's campaign finances came under scrutiny as he campaigned, speaking at churches where he collected "love offerings" that are common to traveling preachers.

    How low can oil go? A lot lower, but it'll recover

    LONDON (Reuters) - World oil prices could easily fall below $50 a barrel and might even slip toward $40 or perhaps $35, but they will recover and could do so fairly quickly, analysts and economists say.

    Benchmark U.S. crude futures dropped to a 22-month low under $55 on Thursday as evidence mounted that the deepening recession would have a severe impact on demand, reducing the use of oil by industries and individuals alike.

    Oil has now fallen more than 60 percent from July's record $147.27 a barrel and is moving close to what is widely considered to be the average operating cost, or "cash cost," for the world's oil major oil companies around $50 a barrel.

    Many analysts think the market is likely to fall further, breaching the psychological $50 barrier before recovering.

    Lawsuits claim election night hate crimes by police

    Several lawsuits have alleged that Chicago police abused Chicago citizens as they celebrated the win of Barack Obama.

    CBS' Chicago affiliate reported:

    Two more women are suing Chicago Police for hate crimes and battery after officers allegedly sprayed pepper spray on the women and their children and barged into their West Side home as they celebrated Barack Obama's Election Night victory.

    Her family was standing outside their home in the 3400 block of West Chicago Avenue cheering and celebrating Obama's victory when police squad cars drove down the street and one or more officers hung out the window and discharged pepper spray at the crowd, the suit said.

    After some words were exchanged, officers exited their vehicles with guns drawn and kicked open the door to the Arnold family home, according to the suit.

    The officers allegedly knocked some of the family members to the ground and made racial comments, the suit said.

    Jury awards $2.5 million to teen beaten by Klan members

      (CNN) -- A jury awarded $2.5 million in damages on Friday to a Kentucky teenager who was severely beaten by members of a Ku Klux Klan group because they mistakenly thought he was an illegal Latino immigrant, the Southern Poverty Law Center said.

    The jury found that the Imperial Klans of America and its founder wrongfully targeted 16-year-old Jordan Gruver, an American citizen of Panamanian and Native-American descent.

    The verdict included $1.5 million in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages against "Imperial Wizard" Ron Edwards.

    The law center said before the verdict that a large damage award could break the Klan group, allowing the teen and the law center to seize the group's assets, including its headquarters, a 15-acre compound in Dawson Springs, Kentucky.

    "We look forward to collecting every dime that we can for our client and to putting the Imperial Klans of America out of business," said SPLC founder and chief trial attorney Morris Dees, who tried the case.

    North Carolina cops investigated for possible racial slurs against Obama

    DURHAM - Derogatory remarks toward President-elect Barack Obama made on a social networking Web site are now the subject of an internal police investigation.

    A police department employee claims the statements were made on the MySpace pages of two Durham officers.

    "There's no exact words that were said," said Police Chief Jose L. Lopez Sr. in a telephone interview Wednesday from San Diego, where he is attending the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference. "It wasn't a racial slur, but we're still investigating it."

    Investigators, who are focusing on the context of what was written, have been looking into the allegations since Thursday.

    Lopez wouldn't disclose what was said or identify the officers involved.

    City Manager Tom Bonfield, who was notified of the investigation late Tuesday afternoon, said he advised Lopez to complete it as quickly as possible.

    Bonfield, whom Lopez reports to, said the department has the discretion to notify him of such inquiries.

    The police, as well as other city agencies, have a good sense of when an issue is big enough to notify him, said Bonfield, who added that he notified city council members within an hour of talking with Lopez.

    "It's important that the investigators have a chance to do their jobs and make sure they get all of the information," he said. "I think it's important that the police are given the opportunity to respond against any allegations against them."

    Bonfield added that if the allegations are found to be true and officers posted racially charged statements, then an appropriate response by the department would be warranted.

    The department's code of conduct, under the heading "private life," states that an officer's "character and conduct while off duty must always be exemplary, thus maintaining a position of respect in the community in which he or she lives and serves. The officer's personal behavior must be beyond reproach."

    Lopez said even though the remarks were made on a personal Web page, the comments could be a violation of the policy.

    "As a police officer, it doesn't matter where you do it, if you provide disservice to the organization, it violates the [department's] code of conduct," he said. "It is a high standard that officers are held accountable to."

    One aspect of the 2008 election outcome that will likely have real long-term consequences for the nation's political alignment is the emergence of the power of the Latino vote.

    It's looking increasingly as though Latinos have moved semi-permanently into the Democrats' column, in large part because the Republican brand has been semi-permanently tainted with the ugly nativist bigotry that has immersed movement conservatism. It certainly played a significant role in the voters' repudiation of all things conservative.

    Palin left out of RGA leadership

    In the wake of the Republican Governors Association (RGA) convention this week in Miami, many GOP governors were reluctant to embrace Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) as the party’s leader or presidential candidate for 2012. Today, the RGA made that sentiment official, by not voting her in to any of the organization’s leadership positions:

    The Republican Governors Association announced its new leadership lineup today after their annual meeting concluded Thursday in Miami.

    South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford was voted RGA chairman, taking over the top job from Texas Gov. Rick Perry who will now serve as finance chairman. Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is vice-chairman, while Florida Gov. Charlie Crist will serve as chair for the annual RGA gala, and Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue will head up the recruitment effort.

    The London Times’ Charles Bremner has identified one positive aspect of President Bush’s foreign policy legacy:

    With Russian tanks only 30 miles from Tbilisi on August 12, Mr. Sarkozy told Mr. Putin that the world would not accept the overthrow of Georgia’s Government. According to [Sarkozy’s chief diplomatic adviser, Jean-David] Levitte, the Russian seemed unconcerned by international reaction. “I am going to hang Saakashvili by the balls,” Mr. Putin declared.

    Mr. Sarkozy thought he had misheard. “Hang him?” — he asked. “Why not?” Mr. Putin replied. “The Americans hanged Saddam Hussein.”

    Mr. Sarkozy, using the familiar tu, tried to reason with him: “Yes but do you want to end up like [President] Bush?” Mr. Putin was briefly lost for words, then said: “Ah — you have scored a point there.”

    Rahm Emanuel apologizes for father's disparaging remarks about Arabs

    U.S. President-elect Barack Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel apologized to an Arab-American group on Thursday for comments disparaging Arabs made by his father.
    
    The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee sent a letter to Emanuel calling on him to distance himself from remarks made by the elder Emanuel in an interview with an Israeli newspaper following his son's appointment last week.
    
    In the interview, Benjamin Emanuel was reported as saying: "Obviously, he will influence the president to be pro-Israel. Why wouldn't he? What is he, an Arab? He's not going to clean the floors of the White House." While some political analysts have said Rahm Emanuel, a veteran Democratic congressman, should not be held responsible for the actions of his father, there was also a sense that an apology was unavoidable.

    Five Million Dead and Counting

    The disaster in Congo is all the more tragic because it was utterly avoidable.

    In the North Kivu province of eastern Congo, people are living in ditches along the sides of roads. They're filling up the floors of churches and schools. Displaced people are surrounding the compounds of bewildered U.N. peacekeepers. Young boys and men are hiding in the forest to avoid being killed or forced into armed groups.

    "There are only girls left in the schools in my village," one 13-year-old boy told me. The day before, he and three friends had run from rebel soldiers who'd come to kidnap them.

    There are now more than 1 million displaced people scattered throughout the province. In the last 10 years of fighting, more than 5 million people have died in the Congolese conflict—mostly civilians who haven't had access to enough food or health care because of the fighting. And let's be clear: That's 5 million and counting.

    Obama Names Valerie Jarrett Senior White House Advisor

    President-elect Barack Obama has formally named his friend Valerie Jarrett to be a senior adviser in the White House. Her official title will be "senior advisor and assistant to the President for Inter-government relations and Public Liaison in the Obama White House," according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet.

    Jarrett is a co-chair of Obama's transition team and was a top advisor to him during the presidential campaign.

They plan to disenfranchise white people by programming the voting machines to record McCain or republicans although the voter chose Obama or a democrat. They only need to change one chip in the machine to reprogram it to record a vote for McCain although the voter selected Obama.

     

    Every one will believe that white people said they were going to vote for Obama but actually voted for McCain in the red states because we half-way expect them to do that anyway. However, in order for McCain to win he will have to steal a couple of states that normally or often goes blue. This is the reason why he is campaigning so hard in Pennsylvania and Ohio. He wants it to appear plausible that he won those states at the last minute by spending a lot of time there.

     

    The states that I predict republicans will steal are: New Hampshire, Indiana, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

     

    Normally republicans do all they can to disenfranchise Black voters. This time they will penalize Whites for trying to vote for a Black man. This is in keeping with the character of republicans and the character of their candidate.     The McCain Campaign is absolutely ruthless.  These folks will use and abuse anyone necessary for a win at the polls.  Caught up in this disaster of morality is Sarah Palin, the Governor of Alaska.  Palin has to own some of the choices she makes - but the allure of power has distorted her powers of reason.  The election will come and go - and Palin will have to live with herself.  That day will be November 5, 2008

    Palin’s credentials did not support McCain’s decision - so why did he choose her?  Most people quickly get this - McCain wanted to shake up his faltering campaign.  Choose a woman, a Governor, someone who’s lack of experience could be interpreted as being a reformer.  McCain knew he could spin the wheel and keep the media off balance.

    But here it is for this writer - McCain is using and abusing Palin.  McCain uses Palin as a prop, a pretty face and a Joe six pack personality.  Sarah Palin is not a part of the inner campaign circle.  She is an accessory designed to gain appeal with particular demographics.  Palin chooses to walk in the mud with the low flying campaign. And what happens when they lose?

    On November 5, 2008, the McCain camp will be gone from Alaska.  Sarah Palin will be dumped like a used pumpkin from Halloween.  She will go home to Alaska, where she will temporarily be greeted as a heroine (spelling correction).  Then the reality will sink in - her life, her family, will have been completely exposed.  Palin’s dignity will have been stripped from her.  No one will ever really trust her again - they know now that she will stoop to vicious lies and distortions.

    Barack Obama’s Presidency will soar to heights of glory on the wings of hope and change.  Palin’s lies about this man will live on.  Palin’s distortions will haunt her.  And there will be no McCain Camp around to shelter her.  She will be left to her own devices.

    Dan Quayle came from a rich newspaper family - his inheritance sheltered his disastrous public life from the country club golf course.  Palin will not have that advantage.  Over time her star power will fade.  Memories of her atrocities will remain.  She will call McCain for support on Alaskan earmarks, only to be told he is busy - and do not ever call here again.   She will try to enter the national political arena - and they will not return her calls.

    She will be alone.  And her former supporters will be forever suspicious of her quest for power.  She will live, but her fifteen minutes will have tainted her life.  She chose to walk in the mud with McCain, and she will forever be defined by that moment when she sold her soul.

    This writer does not want to believe that Joe Six Pack from Alaska is as mean spirited as is being represented by Governor Sarah Palin.

    What great sadness modern politics brings into the lives of Joe Six Pack.

    When an eagle is flying, and comes upon a storm, he doesn’t fly into the storm. H knows that will not serve him well at all. He doesn’t stop flying either. Instead, he flies above the storm on to his intended destination.

    This is my point, yes, President Obama can address the McCain/Bush spin, but not by coming down to their level. Not by allowing them to dictate how the matter is to be handled. He must bring them up to his level of combat. He must be the one to determine what the battle will be, and how it is to be fought. For you sports fans, I think it’s called, “the home court advantage.”

    You can’t clean dirt with dirt. Let him take the Republicans out of their comfort zone. They know how to fight dirty. They are at a lose in a clean fight. Remember he/we are not in this battle alone, as the song says, “the battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s.”

    Those who will vote for President Obama already know the Republican track record. We know they lie, they spin, they practice the double standard, and have self-serving amnesia.

    They are only talking to their base, and that base consists of people who wouldn’t, couldn’t bring themselves to vote for the President Obama and Joe Biden ticket, if the two of them, did a waltz on water, on the 6 PM news.

    Don’t waste your time and precious mind energy worrying about those who are not going to vote for President Obama. Instead, focus your attention, like a laser beam on those who you know are not voting the Republican ticket, but are saying, “I would vote for President Obama but,_____(fill in the lame excuse blank). Get their, “Buts”, registered, and to the polls on November 4 ^th to VOTE!!!!

    As for the undecided, independent, swing voters: they can only go 1 of 3 ways: President Obama, Republican, or, none of the above. In my estimation, the way to swing them to President Obama is to let them see that he is truly a different type of politician. Let us all see that his administration will truly be for the GOOD of ALL of us. How does he do that? By continuing to be true to himself. Remember what Willy Shakespeare said, “To thine ownself be true; and it must follow as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man.”

    We who would vote for President Obama are not stupid, nor gullible. You can’t piss on us and call it rain. We want a President that uses diplomacy and intellect first, and will only send our babies off to kill or be killed, when our country is really in danger, and as a last resort.

    I just heard on the TJMS today, that the number of people who attended the final night of the Democratic Convention, was more than the amount of votes that the last election was lost/stolen by. Think about that. I hope everyone in that stadium is registered and voting for President Obama.

    Are you registered, will your voice be heard, will your vote be counted, will yours be the vote that makes the historical difference, the vote that indeed turns the world in the direction of Peace and Prosperity.

    One man can’t do it alone, we will all have to get up, and get involved. He is a good motivator, and we are more than ready to meet the challenge.

    Get with your family, friends, crew, neighbors, etc, etc, and get registered, (if you think you are already registered, check on-line to be sure), and vote. Each one bring one to the polls. Motivate those who would vote for President Obama, to actually VOTE FOR HIM.

    Remember the preamble to the U.S. constitution begins with, “We the people...” Truly, this is the appropriate time to say, “ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE”!!!!

    Well, they’re at it again, y’all. A small minority of Black people are hard at work doing everything they can to undermine the Black community. This time it’s in the guise of trying to drag down Barack Obama by promoting Cynthia McKinney’s dead-on-arrival candidacy with the Green Party.

    They’re touting Ms. McKinney’s candidacy like it’s some kind of intellectual fashion statement on Black independence, or Black people’s right to speak, when all it actually represents is the same old "crabs in a barrel" mentality that we’ve been dealing with for the past four hundred years.

    But of course, they’d say, "You people are treating Barack Obama like he’s some kind of Messiah. He has flaws too, so why shouldn’t Black people have the right to disagree?" In response, let me be the first to concede that they’re absolutely right on both counts–Obama’s definitely not the Messiah, and Black people have every right in the world to disagree–but what sense does it make to cut our own throat in the process?

    In an interview with Ms. McKinney in "Your Black Politics," staff writer, Tolu Olorunda, indicates, "For many, the name "Cynthia McKinney" is synonymous with loaded-descriptions such as "progressive," "activist," "relentless," "fighter," "frank," and "courageous."Cynthia McKinney has been described by political-prisoner and internationally-renowned journalist, Mumia Abu Jamal, as "bold," "outspoken," and a "woman of substance." I’d add two other descriptors to that–questionable judgement, and voted out of office. In fact, she gained nationwide fame for her poor judgement.

    Ms. McKinney represented Georgia’s 4 ^th District in the House of Representatives. On the morning of March 29, 2006, she entered the Longworth House Office Building by going around the security detectors. Members of congress are given a special lapel pin that allows them to do so, but on this morning Ms. McKinney wasn’t wearing her pin. Thereafter, Ms. McKinney allegedly proceeded westward down the ground floor hallway and about halfway down the hallway was grabbed by United States Capitol Police officer Paul McKenna, who states that he had been calling after her-- "Ma'am, Ma'am!" Reportedly, McKinney then struck the officer. Two days later, Officer McKenna filed a police report claiming that McKinney had struck "his chest with a closed fist."

    On April 6, 2006, Ms. McKinney rendered a Public apology on the floor of the House of Representatives, indicating that "There should not have been any physical contact in this incident." Then on April 23, 2006 during an interview, she became frustrated with the questions she was being asked, and in a Jackson-like ‘hot mike’ moment she called her aide, Coz Carson, "a fool." After realizing what she’d done, she said, "anything that is captured by your audio ... that is captured while I'm not seated in this chair is off the record and is not permissible to be used ... is that understood?" But of course, her warning was ignored and the segment was aired by CBS.

    While both of these incidents are indicative of a woman who lacks a firm grasp on her emotions, they are the exact qualities that one would seek out if the motive was to undermine the presidential campaign of a Barack Obama. Her behavior tends to say, "I don’t give a damn–I’ll go for broke against these suckers!" Her attitude is both, in complete contrast to the reasoned and measured approach of Barack Obama, and at the same time, reflects the anger and frustration of many who feel disenfranchised by the system. So she’s the perfect candidate if you want to appeal to the fist shakers.

    But there’s only one problem with Ms. McKinney’s approach–it appeals to the emotions rather than common sense. While it may very well be cathartic to throw one’s fist in the air, that kind of behavior doesn’t win elections. So for those who would waste their vote on Cynthia McKinney--the very vote that many have died to secure–the question should be the following: When all the smoke has cleared, and this election has been relegated to history, what do you want to be left with, a tired arm from shaking your fist in the air, or a president, who could possibly change the course of the world, and provide a better way of life for you and your children? Thus, it simply does not make sense to take the position that "If Obama doesn’t give me everything I want, I’m going to help McCain to win--who will certainly give me nothing.

    McKinney indicated in Bro. Olorunda’s interview that she supports reparations and the freeing of all "political prisoners." That may sound good to many, but what chance do you think she has of winning an election based on such an agenda? After the way the Bush regime has ravished the U.S. treasury, we’ll be lucky to get social security, much less reparations. And how are we to determine what constitutes a "political prisoner." According to some, every Black man in the joint is a political prisoner. So how many White folks do you think are going to vote to swing the prison gates open? In fact, never mind that–how many Black folks would vote for such a measure?

    If we’re dumb enough to let John McCain win this election, he’ll be able to complete the process of creating an entirely conservative Supreme Court. That could send Black people back to the days of Jim Crow and beyond. They could overturn Brown V. The Board of Education, Roe V. Wade, The 1964 Civil Rights Act, and even The Voter’s Rights Act. And according to the ACLU in a statement entitle "No Laughing Matter," they say, "Attorney General Michael Mukasey is demanding that Congress issue a new declaration of war so that anyone that this president or the next one declares to be an "enemy combatant" can be held indefinitely without a trial. The new declaration of war would make the entire globe — including the United States itself — a "battlefield" where the president decides who will be locked up forever."

    So take the time to lookup the term "Cointelpro," then ask yourself, why is a handful of Black activists fighting so hard against Obama, in spite of the horror that John McCain represents? Allowing McCain to win this election as an act of protest against Obama would be the logical equivalent of blowing your brains out to prevent the sniffles. Think about that before you decide to throw away your vote.

    In conclusion, I want to clearly go on record that I’m not implying that anyone who supports Cynthia McKinney is Judas. I’m sure that most of her supporters are very honorable people who have simply been misguided. But that said, let the record also reflect my position that Judas does have his hand in this situation somewhere, and you can bet the ranch on that. There are many people–outside the Republican Party–who have a vested interest in Obama losing this election.

    Excellent article. Well thought out and resourced. What Anglo readers may not know: The covert strategy of labeling intelligence, self confidence, and leadership ability in a person of color and any given portion of African descent as "arrogance" "'presumptious" and "not knowing his place" -- and if you are a woman assertive equals "too agressive" -- has been around forever in the USA. Ask anyone who is in corporate management and is African American. I can tell you some interesting stories about how I dared to expect the promotions and accolades my peers received when I consistenly delivered a job not just well done, but exceptionally done. And that's just in corporate. So imagine having the "audacity" to run for President of the USA, without asking anyone's permission. Imagine everyday people who aren't listening to spin, aren't waiting for media to tell them who to choose, who are actually looking past the shade of skin and finding someone who they believe just may have their best interests at heart, versus more of the same. Real people are so much smarter than those in power of the media and politics have given them credit for. And they're not liking that so much, may be even kind of scared of the notion that folks can actually think and decide for themselves. Imagine that.

    There are always at least two sides to every story. Somewhere in between is where the truth is hidden. Those who seek the truth, even when it is not what they want to hear, will live the most genuine life. Your decisions may be the same, but they will be based upon an unadulterated integrity. If there is a small voice inside you whispering questions, have the courage to seek the answers, lest your personal truth becomes counterfeit by omission. Decisions made, actions taken, judgments ruled -- sans listening to every faction with as much objectivity as humanly possible -- will always be based upon warped evidence, ultimately causing those who continue stand upon such flawed reality, to fall.

    Memo to New Yorker Magazine:
    No matter what spin you put on what your intentions were, at some level you knew what the fallout would be. We live in a country where perception is reality, especially when it comes to people of color and African descent. Given the tone and demeanor of your responses, I can only assume that your explanations are insincere and more than likely efforts to CYA. Unless you print a "caricature" of John McCain in the next issue, then I am hard pressed to buy that the agenda of your magazine was not both politically and racially motivated. You see, the definition of a caricature is exaggeration by means of often ludicrous distortion of parts or characteristics, in other words, a distortion of truth. What we have here is the compilation of stereotypical lies, which means, this picture is worth a thousand racist words to those who are looking for a reason to justify their prejudices. Oh, and I forgot -- although I'm certain you didn't -- controversy always sells well in the USA, so be sure to print extras.
    UPDATE:
    While I am still of the opinion that the New Yorker bought into the idea that controversy sells, I received another point of view from a young African American professional, an architect who has lived in New York for some time. I think he makes some valid points and asked his permission to add his comments to this blog. Here is what John M. says:
    "This is being taken over by the larger media.. which the NYer should have known... but as a New Yorker reader (had a subscription for last 4 years), I know where the magazine is coming from... which is not really stance of the popular media. The cover IS captioned (all the 'journaists' reporting on the cover seem to leave this out: 'THE POLITICS OF FEAR.' Like every issue you turn the page and it has the caption. Enough said. People are accusing the New Yorker of trying to sell magazines... if you know the New Yorker you know that's not the case... the TV stations need to be real and explain that it's THEM who are trying to sell airtime. They leave out that there is an eighteen-page article that is very good that goes into Obama's history as a politician, and the stances he's taken over time, etc. To show the depth that everyone keeps saying is missing because he's 'new' to politics and to uncover some of the nuances of his intelligence relative to consensus-building and political work in Chicago's political machine that would help explain away some of this 'flip-flop' business the republicans (and far left liberals) are already starting to throw around. But of course people don't READ anymore.
    
    I'm pretty sure people who think Barack is a Muslim in West Virginia or whatever, don't read the New Yorker... and weren't going to vote for him anyway. But CNN and FOX sure did a great job of making a big mess out of nothing. The people on the center/left need to straighten up and not get distracted or we are going to lose this one. . . again!
    
    The day before the NYer article came out, Barack put out an editorial in the Times on his stance on Iraq - essentially the articulation of his platform as opposed to McCain's. Instead of paying attention to the man, the TV, and as a result everyone is talking about what the 'fist bump' means, and how wrong the New Yorker is for you actually doing REAL journalism with depth and intelligence instead of what to do about Iraq. Apparently that was yesterday's news even though people still die every day and we continue to pump billions over there while our economy and prosperity choke on broken banks, defaulted mortgages and $5 gas!"

    In the media cacophony that has been ringing in our ears since Senator Barack Obama announced that he was running for President of the United States, the women have finally become the voices of reason. Michelle Obama is a smart woman. While all the pundits were greedily pouring over their sources looking for some hiccup in the very smart appearance of Michelle Obama on ABC’s The View http://abc.go.com/daytime/theview/info?pn= news as guest host on Wednesday, she already knows that she won that particular battle. Every host, from Barbara to Whoopi, seemed mesmerized by the down to earth, straight-forwardness of Michelle Obama, who seemed very at ease with just being herself and letting the viewing audience know who Michelle Obama is. The fist bump issue was diffused and disposed of with grace and humor. She was especially appreciative of the support she had received from Laura Bush when the media had its feeding frenzy over her comment “For the first time, I am [really] proud of being an American.” Laura Bush understood what she was trying to say, and coached her in being a better steward of her words. She used this opportunity to show humility and gratitude and to let us all know that she was in a learning curve, but was gaining a clear understanding of the lay of the political land, even for the wife of the future President of the US .She was even brilliant in the nutrition portion of the show, admitting that hers was a bacon-loving family. Not turkey bacon, the real thing. A food that a true Muslim would never eat. (I still don’t get it; there is nothing wrong with being a Muslim, or a Catholic or a Baptist or…) Even the special guest Matthew Broderick was nervously in awe, speaking of how his son was an Obama fan. That very evening after the show, The View’s Republican right-winger, Elisabeth Hasselback was hustled onto FOX’s Hannity and Colmes, while the outspoken Joy Behar was the guest of Larry King on CNN. Hannity, Colmes and King were all salivating as they opened their respective shows, looking forward to new kill. They were disappointed. Elisabeth Hasselback http://www.foxnews.com/hannityandcolmes/ in her interview was very clear about one thing: she was not going to bad-mouth Michelle Obama. She was following Michelle’s lead. Michelle had grabbed her hand, congratulated her on being who she was, being a fine mother and said that she could get along with and respect her, even though they had very different political views. Although the pundit team went after Michelle from different angles, dredging up tired drama that had died months ago, Elisabeth, to her credit – and quite honestly, my surprise – made a conscious decision not to enable their need for new mud to sling. Joy Behar was an equally disappointing guest on Larry King, and did not provide Larry with the exclusive nugget of information he had hoped for. She was dismissed with dispatch. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/ 2008/06/19/lkl.joy.behar.cnn But she too was not going to bad-mouth Michelle Obama. On Thursday, Cindy McCain, who is in Vietnam doing her own work, was approached to comment about Michelle Obama, both by ABC and by CNN http://www.videospider.tv/Videos/Detail/33 34243702.aspx . When asked to comment, yet again, about the now four-month old statement Michelle Obama had made, she said: I really don’t know exactly what she meant. Finally, she too, is following Michelle Obama’s lead. Cindy McCain also said: She is a fine woman, a good mother and we are both in an interesting line of work right now.

    As you will note, when viewing her CNN interview, she too believes that family should be off limits and that the media should be focused on the two men and the issues. The women seem to be uniting in what seems to be a good idea. Stop focusing on rumor, innuendo and statements taken out of context. Focus on the facts and issues at hand. I believe the women took the lead, following the example Michelle Obama set, as though making a silent pact ,and decided to not actively or passively participate in any further mud-slinging fests.

    This seems to disappoint the various news entities who took a hot minute to reflect on the legacy of Tim Russert, before they went on with business as usual. But then, in all fairness, maybe there are a few who are, perhaps, checking their yellow journalism hats at the door. Dan Abrams had a panel of media and politicals at the top of his show, discussing an important point that will hopefully, finally, put to bed the Michelle Obama “ American” statement. He wanted to know what the difference was between what Michelle Obama said and John McCain’s repeated comment: I really didn't love America until I was deprived of her company. In or out of context, those are some interesting words. I was not in love with America until I was deprived of her company," McCain said again, at a recent town meeting here when asked to describe the impact of being a POW. Lars Larson, radio talk show host, when questioned by Dan Abrams about his consistent spewing of hate-filled innuendos, and direct assaults on Michelle Obama, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbM WdTx7uYY called the Obamas terrorist affiliated and dangerous when asked how Michelle Obama's comment about love for America was any different from John McCain's comment that he's used more than once: The bullying, commando, over-talking Larson could not respond with any reasonable discourse and was obviously missing from the next segment of the show, but not before he was dressed down by Abrams for his rumor mongering, stereotyping and Abrams even suggested that his were the actions of a racist.. It is fascinating to note that for all of his hate-filled diatribe, he has never met or talked to Michelle Obama, yet he purports to know who she is.

    So maybe, just maybe, the sad event of the passing of Tim Russert, combined with what suddenly seems to be a uniting front between wives of the politicians and a few women in the media -- who are consciously choosing to take that higher road -- will become a new paradigm that all of those with the power of the microphone, the keyboard or the internet blogs will begin to buy into. Maybe, just maybe, the media will begin to check each other and themselves and get back on the road to quality journalism. Regardless of the spin according to the various media mongers, Michelle Obama won this particular battle. • The Definition of 'Jawn'

    What is a jawn?

    Let me set the record straight. Some across the country might be a little confused about what I'm talking about. I became confused where I heard this guy on the Tom Joyner show named Jawn Murray reporting celebrity news. I was like, wait a minute, where did he get that name from? Did his parents give him that name? He's not a jawn. He can't be from Philly. Then I found out, Jawn Murray is from D.C. He don't know. Nothing personal.

    
    

    I'm not sure where jawn came from, it's kind of been around all the time. I'll try to explain it anyway. So here it goes. Here's my theory. There was a rap song called 'That's the Joint" by a rap group named Funky 4 + 1 out of the Bronx. It was put out on wax around 1980. I say that to say this; "That's the Joint" was probably a colloquial expression that was around five years or more before it was put out on record. Just like hip-hop began around 1974-75 with street parties and not 1979-80, as many believe with the release of the Sugar Hill Gang's record 'Rapper's Delight' to radio.

    
    

    So, 'joint' and 'jawn' were expressions that meant the same thing coming from different east coast regions. In New York they said 'joint' and Philly said 'jawn'. Now you can figure out 'joint' came from the slang term for a marijuana cigarette. So the cool dudes from the 70's wearing the platforms and bell bottoms started saying the cool things were the joint. While jawn is a Philly spin on 'joint'. I say around 1980, because of the wide use of the term in the streets and by every MC, the popularity of the usage of joint or jawn had increased.

    
    

    Now the term 'joint' in New York had been superceded by a number of expressions during the early hip hop era like fresh, dope, the bomb, etc. However the term 'jawn' has held up over time and has coexisted with the lastest hip-hop venacular that expresses something as being "cool" or "hip".

    
    

    How do you use jawn?

    
    

    Well, you use it to describe a beat, a rap song, food, clothes, and almost anything and everything and especially when describing women. More on that later.

    
    

    What does 'jawn' mean?

    
    

    Well it can be mean several things. Most times it means something good. In the 60's and 70's I think the James Brown song 'Super Bad', probably most closely defines the essence of the word. Like that girl is bad, those are some bad threads, Earl the Pearl is a bad dude on the court. How about the Run-DMC lyrics, in Peter Piper " Not bad meaning bad, but bad meaning GOOD ... There it is!" So jawn most often means something good. However you can also use it when people say 'whatchamacallit'. Like "give me that jawn over there".

    Now I thought the term 'jawn' was just for old heads and it was dead. As I was tutoring a 7 year old boy, he started putting down a beat on the table with his rolled up hands, using the bottom edge of his palms. As he was laying down his beat he said, "That beat's the jawn!" I said, "Stop beating on that table boy!" To myself I said 'You're right, that was the jawn!'
