The power of misinformation is profound.
(A Message to all Black people]
There exist a type of deplored warfare that is commonly used by governments against the masses and targeted groups. It is a covert method that prevails from a psychological perspective using manipulative misinformation. Manipulative misinformation is so profound that it may cause an individual to take his own life. Lets us, for example, imagine that a man was being held prisoner within a small room. And that he was forewarned that highly dangerous poisonous gas would be pumped into the room. Even if this gas was replaced by a few harmless puffs of baby powder, the man being totally convinced and expecting the lethal gas would response accordingly to that expectation. He would panic causing his heart rate to race out of control perhaps causing a fatal heart-attack. He might also break his hands or rip his nails off as he struck them against the solid wall trying to escape. The terrified man may also resort to holding his breath-- to prevent from inhaling the gas he believes to be poisonous-- causing himself to pass out, thus falling to floor hitting his head and dying. In this scenario the man is killed by manipulative misinformation and it is a very plausible example. The power of manipulative misinformation is so immensely profound that it can deeply crush one’s spirit a thousand times over in but an instant. It only requires the proper circumstances and setting.
Such circumstances and setting exists within the corporate owned and governmentally controlled media. The media’s ability to manipulate the masses is incredible. A few news reports about a swine flu out break can convince millions of people not to attend work tomorrow and pull their children out of schools even if there was in fact no swine flu at all. The media’s immense ability to manipulate the masses should never be under estimated nor is it ever overstated. In fact the media’s ability to manipulate is so powerfully effective that it can even convince a loving mother to kill her only child.
The effectiveness of the media’s ability to profoundly influence and a control mass population was made obvious as a result of one of the most infamous mistakes in history. It happened on Oct. 30, 1938, when millions of Americans tuned in to a popular radio program that featured a plays directed by, and starring, Orson Welles. The performance that evening was an adaptation of the science fiction novel The War of the Worlds, about a Martian invasion of the earth. But in adapting the book for a radio play, Welles made an important change: under his direction the play was written and performed so it would sound like a news broadcast about an invasion from Mars, a technique that, presumably, was intended to heighten the dramatic effect. News of the panic was conveyed as a via genuine news report. As the audience listened to this simulation of news broadcast, created with voice acting and sound effects, a portion of the audience concluded that it was hearing an actual news account of an invasion from Mars. This quickly generated immense scare. People packed the roads, hid in cellars, loaded guns, fought among themselves, even wrapped their heads in wet towels as protection from Martian poison gas, in an attempt to defend themselves against aliens, oblivious to the fact that they were acting out the role of the panic-stricken public that actually belonged in a radio play. These people listening to the false broadcast were taken in by the totally false accounts and became confused, disarray and distrusting of their neighbors even resulting in immense violence. This example proves more potently than any argument, Dr. Edward Bernays claims of the enormous effectiveness of the media at affecting masses of people.
Most people are unaware of the profound power of misinformation when it is systematically deployed as a psychological weapon against an individual or group. However the white elites are well aware of its immense power. They have researched it thoroughly and have used it repetitively -as a sort of psychosocial weapon-- against individuals and targeted groups. According to researcher Mack White, Psychologist Dr. Hadley Cantril conducted a study of the effects of the broadcast and published his findings in a book, The Invasion from Mars: A Study in the Psychology of Panic, (1939). This study explored the power of broadcast media, particularly as it relates to the suggestibility of human beings under the influence of fear. Dr. Cantril was affiliated with Princeton University's Radio Research Project, which was funded in 1937 by the Rockefeller Foundation. Also affiliated with the Project was Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) member and Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) executive Frank Stanton, whose network had broadcast the program. Stanton would later go on to head the news division of CBS, and in time would become president of the network, as well as chairman of the board of the RAND Corporation, the influential think tank which has done groundbreaking research on, among other things, mass brainwashing.
Two years later, with Rockefeller Foundation money, Cantril established the Office of Public Opinion Research (OPOR), also at Princeton. Among the studies conducted by the OPOR was an analysis of the effectiveness of "psycho-political operations" (propaganda, in plain English) of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Then, during World War II, Cantril and Rockefeller money assisted CFR member and CBS reporter Edward R. Murrow in setting up the Princeton Listening Center, the purpose of which was to study Nazi radio propaganda with the object of applying Nazi techniques to OSS propaganda. Out of this project came a new government agency, the Foreign Broadcast Intelligence Service (FBIS). The FBIS eventually became the United States Information Agency (USIA), which is the propaganda arm of the National Security Council. Thus, by the end of the 1940s, the basic research had been done and the propaganda apparatus of the national security state had been fully established.
Over time the techniques continued to increase in their sophistication. Since the 1950's, U.S. experimental psychologists and Cognitive scientists have developed ideas about the unconscious mental process that proposes that most of our mental processes happen outside of our awareness suggesting that the ability to control the behavior of people around us subconsciously is now a distinct possibility. Moreover, over the past five decades, human sociobiology has transformed into an evolutionary psychology that has gained science the means and ability to control and, therefore, predict the actions and feelings of individuals or groups merely by the messages conveyed against them. According to this controversial use of psychology, the human mind is the most extraordinary part of the human body, and there seems to be little doubt, wrote biologist David Barash, "that the unconscious is real and that in certain obscure ways the forces of culture are all-powerful in shaping human behavior.
People’s definition of themselves, their definition of other people and the definition of values by which people operate and act towards other are greatly influenced by the media. Perception created by the media leads to non-deliberate thoughtful decision-making or decision below the level of consciousness. It has been called “thinking without thinking”, and it ultimately leads to unconscious similar behaviors.
The U.S. Government has longed used the media’s mass manipulation abilities to steer society towards its objectives. These media manipulation practices are used to promote certain political policies, ideologies and governmental objectives. It also used to intrinsically define targeted groups and or populations. --- Intrinsically, definition; particularly definitions that are developed to harm other people have been described as “radical simplifiers” that position for marginalization or for destruction, those they defined---. It can either involve outright lies, or a distortion of the truth. This latter example is precisely what is being done to African Americans as a means of meeting the U.S. government’s unrelenting objective of maintaining its white racial dominance and control. The U.S. government now secretly uses this same proven method of media manipulation against its Black population through a media deployed psychosocial program of where in which African Americans are perpetually misled and manipulated by way of fraudulent negative media reports and false statistics that are designed to corrupt their sense of unity and lesson pressure for social change in their behalf thus facilitating a national consensual setting for their exploitation and suppression. It is an insidious yet very sophisticated system of control that creates deplorable false misinformation and media reports about its Black population.
Most African Americans are totally unaware of this method of emitting white racism; therefore many will find it too shocking to contemplate. Unlike the blatantly overt system of racism used in the past that resulted in African Americans unifying themselves against it, this modern system of racism is not easily recognized or comprehended by its Black victims. Nevertheless, it is directly intertwined with the extensive challenges negatively impacting Black America today. It is so well disguised that although many of its Black victims may instinctively feel that there is something wrong, they are however unable to sufficiently conceptualize it so that they can unify and defend themselves against it. It is so sophisticated that even the very brightest of African Americans may have little, if any hope of extricating themselves from its detrimental effects.
It is a psychosocial program of where in which African Americans are denigrated within every aspect of American society through reports about their educational failures, crime statistics, and national health statistics. In fact based upon the U.S. Government’s national health statistics and reports concerning the health of Black America, it appears as if the bodies of Black people are literally genetically and physically inferior to the bodies of Whites. However, when examined outside of governmental discretion and control, we see, to the contrary, that Blacks are often America’s greatest athletes. In other words, it is only when statistics are totally in the hands of the White government that the bodies of Blacks appear physically inferior to Whites. Clearly there is a psychosocial manipulative conditioning programs being applied against African Americans. We can no longer ignore the obvious indications that the U.S. government is using its proven method of mass psychological manipulation against us African American. The mounting evidence is too great to be purely coincidental for us not to connect the dots -- it is in fact an exact match. The routine subjugation of African Americans could not occur so effortlessly without psychological warfare. It is too prevalent to be merely dismissed as an oversight or as being the work of a few local governments. It is being deliberately instituted at the national level. Given the preponderance of noted evidence and facts clearly then connecting these dots should be made rather easy. African Americans are being deliberately psychologically mortified by a governmentally media deployed mass manipulation program. This method of deploying white racism is so thorough and proficient that many African Americans will disregard any disclosure of its existence as mere nonsense and preposterously inconceivable. In fact, this form of racism is so proficient at damaging Black self-perception that tragically it has become easier for many Blacks to accept that the problems lies with themselves rather than being a modernized system of institutionalized racism implemented by the ruling white governmental elites.
The media is corporate owned and government controlled. How else is it possible that these so-called independent newspapers and independent television channels remain so succinctly synchronized in their news presentations each and every day? Clearly the free press in America is a myth, for no matter what happens in the world, and no matter what channel you turn to, you hear the identical news reports from network to network -- only the faces reading the reports changes. This is far too much of a coincidence given that the media have separate journalists. Much of the news comes from syndicated news sources and these accounts for the overlapping identical news report and explains how is it that the national media may be used to controllably influence, and therefore socially engineer society. These factors combined with the fact that the media’s fraudulently inaccurate deplorable depiction of African Americans and its produce outcome of causing internalized turmoil and disunity among their group are totally consistent with those applied psychological mind-conditioning programs and systems developed by the federal government makes this conclusion inevitable.
White people do not have to be smarter than Black people to maintain their dominance they merely just have to convince Black people that they’re smarter and this system provides that for them. In that it mortifyingly conditions Blacks to not only accept, but to also prefer white institutions and dominance over their lives.

Divine Order
I am one with God in all I do.
I align with divine order today by becoming still. I enter a special time of quiet in which I am only conscious of God's presence. I relax and allow every breath to take me deeper into my experience of God.
My mind is quiet. I listen. In the silence, ideas present themselves. They are ideas that reflect my soul's greatest desires for wisdom, health, abundance, and harmony.
My desires come from the wisdom of my soul, and they are mine to claim and to act upon. I affirm divine order throughout the day and know right outcomes will appear at the perfect time, in the perfect way. I put God first and experience being one with the One in all I do.
"The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits."-–James 3:17

"Seize this day, this moment. And if you choose to do the right thing now, if you just make a decision to try, then change begins. When the next moment comes, all you have to do is repeat that decision, maintain the course, and perseverance will take root and grow."
~Patrice Gaines
Today's Affirmation
Each moment is a new beginning.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
In this moment of peace, quiet and connection,
I consciously choose to begin again.
Whatever has happened has brought me to this opportunity.
I stretch my mind and allow the awareness of Your to fill me.
I drink deeply from the sweet stillness that envelopes me.
I am refreshed and fortified.
Renewed hope and a sense of purpose stretch before me.
Lifted up by Your spirit, I embrace my life.
Now is the time for new beginnings and for dreams.
So it is.
Amen
Considering the times the Jacksons were raised and how a lot of us were disciplined, I think this is a long over due perspective. The difference is black and white.
I didn't write this article but do concur. It's rather long but worth the read.

What Does A Brother Have to Do? In Defense of Joe Jackson
By Michael A. Lowery
In the wake of Michael Jackson’s sudden tragic death and the incessant media over-coverage thereafter, several themes have taken root that I for one am tired of hearing. There is the constant questioning of what will happen to his children, and the state of his finances at the time of his death. It is highly questionable whether these matters warrant such attention from the public or a responsible news media. However, the one subject that I am most tired of hearing about is the criticism railed against his father, Joe Jackson. It’s time for a reality check America. Joe Jackson is a hero who should be extolled as such, and not derided so cavalierly as has been done by media over the last week, and even over several decades
We are living in a time when only three of ten African-American children born are born into married two parent homes. Our social landscape is replete with statistics and evidence of the consequence of missing fathers. Social service networks have been established by federal, state, and local governments, as well as by private endowments to address the consequences of fatherless homes. Then there is Joe Jackson, a man born in 1920’s Arkansas, long before Black was beautiful, and before Brown v Board of Education outlawed legal segregation in America, and long before an African-American was assured the right to vote in this nation. At some point like many men, Joe embarked on his own life and love story. He married Katherine, and they had dreams, and over approximately a 25 year period, had nine children, several of whom would become among the most renown in the world in their field of endeavor.
Like so many African-American men born in the same period, Joe at some point decided that his life chances and that of his family would be better served if he moved from the American south to its industrial north. So, he moved his family to Gary, Indiana, not a place for the faint of heart. Joe took care of his wife and children by working as a welder in one of Gary’s steel mills. In other words, he carried around a torch while working in a furnace to sustain his family.
At some point in the mid-1960’s, Joe discovered that his five sons seemed to possess the vestige of what appeared to be real talent, so he worked them to develop it. Soon thereafter, the world saw what he had seen, and the rest as is often said is history, literally. His children made history. Among their achievements, they were the most successful “child” act in the history of American music, and one of them sold the most albums that any single album ever sold, among his other astronomical achievements, including signing the biggest record contract in the history of the music business. Another of his children, the baby girl, became for a time the most successful female recording artist of her time, and eclipsed her brother in signing at the time the largest contract in music history. This doesn’t happen in a vacuum people. Fathers either make a difference or they don’t America. You can’t have both ways. In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s when Gary, Indiana was for several years the murder capital of the United States, Joe Jackson’s children, due in large measure to his efforts, had long since left their native city and its peril and were safely ensconced in Santa Barbara and other parts of southern California, with two of them reigning as the top male and female entertainers in the world.

In case you think that all of the family success happened due purely to the talent of the children, you should recall that in the mid-1970’s, Motown had all but written the Jackson family off, essentially saying that they had reached their peak and had no more left. It was Joe Jackson, who wrestled with one of the legendary lions of show business and the Motown empire, and moved his still growing children to another record label, Columbia/Epic. There, the success continued for the group and of course for Michael individually. If further evidence is needed of dad’s role in the success of even his most successful child, it is found in a legendary story in music industry circles about events that led to the making of “Thriller”. After Michael had sold an astounding eleven million copies of his album “Off The Wall”, it appeared that Epic still hadn’t seen enough and pretty much discounted him. It was Joe, again wrestling with an industry titan, who went to the top executives of the label and advised them that they had violated Michael’s contract by failing to provide label support as required by the contract and threatened to leave the label. Embarrassed and panicked, label executives scurried to find a way to resolve this potentially disastrous situation. The result was an agreement for the largest pre-release marketing budget the label had ever undertaken, and again, the rest is history.
We’ve heard the stories that raise the question of whether Mr. Jackson’s discipline of his children rose to the level of abuse. However, as it has often been said, “the proof of the cook is in the pudding”. It would appear that Joe’s pudding turned out pretty good. Joe Jackson pushed his children to work, in a period when black children were admonished by wise elders that “you have to work twice as hard to get half as far”. In reflecting on their achievements, his children have been cited in media quoting Joe’s lesson on work ethic, “plan your work and work your plan”. Joe Jackson raised his children when neither America or the world cared much about the fate of little African-American (Negro for accuracy sake) children, the time of “spare the rod, spoil the child”, “ a child left to himself bringeth his mother shame”, and “children should be seen and not heard”. But his children were seen and heard by the world. The wine and cheese set of today can now see the world through enlightened 2009 eyes; but, it was a different world then, and in the face of every conceivable institutional obstacle, Joe Jackson created a family that impacted the world.
Long before “Thriller”, Joe Jackson’s children were heroes when they were still children. At a time when it was rare to see African-Americans on television in any capacity, they made countless appearances on the top variety shows of the time, including the king of them all, The Ed Sullivan Show, and perhaps most impressive, they were presented to the world in a cartoon series in the early 1970’s, even before the iconic Bill Cosby’s Fat Albert. There were no Black children on television at the time, as heroes or otherwise; but Joe Jackson’s children were. They were on television commercials selling cereal, and the lunch boxes that America’s children carried to school. Unlike other major child stars, his children were not in trouble, and did not disintegrate after the prime of their careers. Joe was never a stage father. Over the 45 year period where his children have been stars in the public eye, you rarely, if ever saw him on camera, and certainly did not hear from him. Unlike celebrity parents of today, he did not seek to impose his presence in his children’s celebrity, no celebrity tell alls, no public feuds, no reality show. He has comported himself with honor and dignity.

In the face of all that we have seen in America about missing fathers, this father achieved miracles, and is still in the lives of his children, most of whom are now over 50 years old. Just prior to his death, Michael Jackson met with concert promoters attempting to resolve a dispute that threatened to stop his London comeback shows. Who was at that meeting with him, his father, Joe. After 45 years dwelling in the highest echelons of show business, dad was still by his side.
America, there are no Ward Cleavers, and the quest for this false image has contributed to an array of social dysfunction over many generations looking for this idyllic father figure. Fathers, like all people are imperfect; but when we find one worthy of praise, we should take note and celebrate. As the world mourns the loss of Joe’s son, Michael, there are two African-American sisters playing each other on center court for the championship of the premier Grand Slam event in tennis for the fourth time. Their father has noted that he was motivated by the success of the Jackson children, and like Joe, saw the potential in his children and worked them to develop it to world class talent. Like Joe Jackson, he too is much maligned. But in part because of Joe, his daughters and other Black children, a fellow named Woods (whose father was also ridiculed) comes to mind, are changing the world. Joe, I salute you. You have helped change the world! What else can a brother do?
If 3,000 Americans had been killed on your watch, in an attack that could have been prevented, perhaps you'd be a little hesitant to accuse anyone else of endangering America. And if you had advocated torture, and the torture produced false information that you used to mislead America into an unwise, unjust and unwarranted war, you might be a tad sheepish about defending the use of torture.
Not Dick Cheney. Mr. Cheney has stepped up his attack on Pres. Obama's security strategy, telling CBS's Bob Schieffer that Obama's refusal to use waterboarding and other "enhanced interrogation techniques" (i.e., torture) endangers American lives.
The truth is the Bush-Cheney policies did not keep us safe, and Mr. Cheney is not a credible spokesman on issues of national security.
First, this awkward fact. When it came time to risk his hide to serve our country during the Vietnam War, Cheney got five draft deferments. He later told the Senate, "I had other priorities in the sixties than military service." John Kerry did not. Nor did John McCain. Nor Gen. Colin Powell, nor Gen. Jim Jones, nor Gen. Wes Clark, nor Jim Webb. These warriors - and so many others - strongly oppose the use of torture. They were willing to die to protect America. It is insulting for a doughy draft dodger like Mr. Cheney to suggest they would endanger us today.
Indeed, the public record offers evidence that torture has endangered American security. Not only by breeding more terrorists, but by producing false intelligence - which Mr. Cheney and President Bush used to mislead America into invading Iraq.
The case of Ibn al-Shaykh al-Libi is instructive. Al-Libi was a senior al Qaeda operative captured trying to make his way out of Afghanistan into Pakistan. In US custody, he initially said he knew of no connection between Saddam and al Qaeda, and, according to Newsweek, "he had difficulty even coming up with a story about the relationship between the two." An FBI agent urged that al-Libi be read his rights and be treated with respect, "as a shining example of what we feel is right." There was a practical, as well as moral, reason not to torture al-Libi: veteran interrogators believe establishing a rapport with a prisoner is the key to obtaining actionable intelligence. There are reports that, after hours of bonding with his FBI interrogator through discussions of religion, al-Libi provided useful information about alleged shoe-bomber Richard Reid and Zacarias Moussaoui, the so-called "20th hijacker" who was arrested just before 9-11.
But even after the bonding experience, al-Libi continued to deny a link between Iraq and al Qaeda. He was rendered to Egypt, where he faced certain torture. "You're going to Cairo, you know," a CIA agent reportedly told al-Libi at the airport. "Before you get there I'm going to find your mother and I'm going to f*** her."
So much for building rapport.
In Egypt, al-Libi was placed in a coffin-sized box for 17 hours, then beaten. Al-Libi cracked. He gave the information Cheney and his crowd most wanted: a direct link between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda. Al-Libi, (who reportedly died this week in Libya), said Iraq had provided al Qaeda with training in the use of chemical and biological weapons.
Bingo! Vice President Cheney and others cited the information to justify the war in Iraq. Trouble is, it turned out to be false. As early as February, 2002 - just two months after al-Libi's "confession" -- the Defense Intelligence Agency reported to the White House and the National Security Council that it had doubts about al-Libi's charge. The DIA's Defense Intelligence Terrorism Summary (DITSUM) all but destroyed al-Libi's credibility. The report said, in part:
"However, he (al-Libi) lacks specific details on the Iraqis involved, the CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) materials associated with the assistance, and the location where training occurred. It is possible he does not know any further details; it is more likely this individual is intentionally misleading the debriefers. Ibn al-Shaykh has been undergoing debriefs for several weeks and may be describing scenarios to the debriefers that he knows will retain their interest.
"Saddam's regime is intensely secular and is wary of Islamic revolutionary movements. Moreover, Baghdad is unlikely to provide assistance to a group it cannot control." (Emphasis added.)
The timing here matters. In December, 2001 al-Libi, under torture, claims Iraq trained al Qaeda in chemical and biological weapons. Two months later, the Pentagon's intelligence agency says he was probably lying. And yet on September 25, 2002, Condoleezza Rice continued to spread the myth, telling PBS's The News Hour, "We know too that several of the (al Qaeda) detainees, in particular, some high-ranking detainees, have said that Iraq provided some training to al Qaeda in chemical weapons development." Defense Secretary Rumsfeld, President Bush and several other leading Administration officials kept banging the al-Libi drum.
In January 2003, the CIA joined the chorus of skepticism about al-Libi's claim that Iraq trained al Qaeda in chemical and biological weapons, noting al-Libi "was not in a position to know if any training had taken place."
More than a year and a half after al-Libi's claim was discredited by the DIA, and nine months after it was poo-pooed by the CIA, Dick Cheney was still sighting it as Gospel, appearing on Meet the Press on the week of September 11, 2003 and telling Tim Russert, "We learned more and more that there was a relationship between Iraq and al-Qaeda that stretched back through most of the decade of the '90s, that it involved training, for example, on BW [biological weapons] and CW [chemical weapons], that al-Qaeda sent personnel to Baghdad to get trained on the systems that are involved."
It may well be that torture was used to advance the Bush-Cheney march to war in Iraq rather than to obtain intelligence about al Qaeda plots against the American homeland. A former senior U.S. intelligence official familiar with the interrogation issue told McClatchy Newspapers, "Cheney's and Rumsfeld's people were told repeatedly, by CIA . . . and by others, that there wasn't any reliable intelligence that pointed to operational ties between bin Laden and Saddam, and that no such ties were likely because the two were fundamentally enemies, not allies." Senior administration officials, however, "blew that off and kept insisting that we'd overlooked something, that the interrogators weren't pushing hard enough, that there had to be something more we could do to get that information," he said.
Next, consider this inconvenient truth: 9-11 happened on Mr. Cheney's watch. Tom Kean, the Republican co-chair of the 9-11 Commission, has said the attacks could have been prevented. He's right. That fact ought to weigh heavy on Mr. Cheney's conscience. As should these:
And the attack came. Over three thousand Americans were killed. In the heartache and rage that followed, Bush and Cheney instituted their "enhanced interrogation techniques." Uncovering a pending plot against the homeland was, doubtless, an important motivator. But the al-Libi case is a cautionary one. Rather than finding a ticking time bomb, the al-Libi torture may have been used to build a spurious case for war - a war that has weakened America.
Perhaps what's most galling about Mr. Cheney is how, without irony, humility or apology, he holds himself out as someone who has protected America when in fact he shirked his responsibility before 9-11 and misled us into war after. The closest Dick Cheney has ever come to fighting for America is when he shot his lawyer in the face.

Lions and tigers and bears oh my….
For those of us who are old enough to remember L. Frank Baum’s classic novel, “The Wizard of Oz”, we can recollect with childlike giddiness, the many perils that Dorothy and her impromptu entourage encountered as they journeyed together hand in hand through open fields of exotic poisonous flora and enchanted forests that were inhabited by demons and witches. Yet, in spite of the many obstacles and dangers that Dorothy and her group faced, they remained a team, steadfast and focused as they followed the path of the yellow brick road. The purpose of their journey was to obtain an audience with a “larger than life” wizard that ruled a magical land that was named “The Emerald City”. Each member of this team was hopeful that the wizard would empower them individually with a unique gift that would make their lives complete and happy. As it turned out, the wizard was a fraud and Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion, were already endowed with their “unique gift” that they had hoped to receive from the charlatan who pretended to be a great and powerful wizard.
In reality, much like the fictional characters in L. Frank Baum’s classic novel, President Barak Obama and his administration are currently traveling on their own “yellow brick road”, a road that ultimately leads them to multiple “Emerald Cities”. As it appears, metaphorically speaking, the President and his “traveling entourage” will sometimes trek on roads that are both dark and dangerous. This “yellow brick road” will lead them to cities both ancient and new. Washington, D.C., Tehran, Baghdad and Kabul are some of the places that his caravan must travel to, in hope of establishing through the use of diplomacy, foundations of peace and prosperity. In route to these metropolises are very real dangers that threaten life, limb and economic stability. It is imperative for the sake of all Americans (and the world) that the President stay focused on the multiple dangers that exist from both foreign and domestic enemies. Let us not be naïve, these enemies are real. They threaten the President’s attempt to stabilize America and American interests by the use of false friendship, misinformation, fear, lies and old prejudices.
A key weapon that our President possesses that assists him in his daily combat against domestic enemies is his ability to multitask. President Obama is able to analyze, design and implement more than one plan at a time and as his enemies try to invent a singular plan to discredit and obstruct the President’s agenda of lifting the “veil of darkness” from past American actions and policies, his enemies due to their inability to “keep up” with the President, often become frustrated and resort to name calling. (As illustrated in their McCarthy like tactic of branding the President as being a socialist and communist) It only stands to reason as President Obama becomes more “seasoned” as the leader of the “Free world”, that he will only get better at utilizing the unique gifts that he already possesses as he interacts with the “wizards” who dwell in both domestic and foreign “Emerald Cities”.
Now, in regard to last week’s pseudo patriotic “Tea Parties” which were held in a handful of cities and towns across the country, let there be no misunderstanding, the highly politicized “Tea parties” that were televised mostly on Fox News and CNN (Lou Dobbs) were mostly “I hate Obama” demonstrations. These demonstrations were monetarily sponsored by Republican Party lobbyists who represent the political “pushback” that has come mostly from the multibillion dollar health insurance and banking industries that genuinely have great disdain for the changes that President Obama represents to their particular industry. In regard to the majority of the “Tea Party” participants, it truly boggles the mind how these mindless sheep who call themselves patriots, did not plan or organize not one single demonstration against the Gestapo like GW Bush administration even though these so-called patriots were aware that the Bush administration was selling out their children and their grandchildren to the Communist Chinese for untold billions of dollars a month in loans to fight an ambiguous war in Iraq, a war that was and is ironically being fought by (guess who) their children and their grandchildren. One can only imagine that these mindless sheep dream (as promised in the official Republican Party Gestapo handbook) of one day being promoted from being plantation share croppers to becoming actual plantation owners. (Yeah right…keep drinking the Republican Kool-Aid) What’s really sad for America is that these “I hate Obama” demonstrations which are Republican sponsored, have also attracted a fairly large amount of Neo Nazis and KKK members / sympathizers. It is probable that this amalgamation of extreme right wing ideology and racial hate will only spawn more homegrown anti-government terrorists like Timothy McVeigh, (Oklahoma City bomber) Randy Weaver (of Ruby Ridge infamy) and Branch Davidian leader David Koresh. The Republican Party’s quest to discredit and defame President Obama, (in the name of world dominance and political ideology), have become Dr. Frankenstein, creating a monster that they cannot and will not be able to control and the Tea Party demonstrators that blindly follow a leaderless Republican Party, have unwittingly become Dr. Frankenstein’s “Igor”. Yes, Mr. President, the yellow brick road that leads to the multiple “Emerald Cities” across the United States and the world is a very dangerous road to be travelling on.
Last week, as details came across the news media that three Somali teenagers who were impersonating pirates by kidnapping and holding for ransom an American merchant marine sea captain, were killed by Navy Seals sharp shooters, and the lone surviving “pirate” was being held in American custody, I was relieved that President Obama passed his first test / encounter with terrorism. Republican Party naysayers were silenced as our President calmly demonstrated his ability to again, analyze, design and implement a plan that led to the rescue of an American citizen abroad. Kudos Mr. President.
In closing, I am amazed that most Americans are in “shock” as details unfold about the torture of suspected 9/11 terrorists as directed by GW and his boyz by the CIA and the military. In retrospect, I’m reminded of the movie, “A few good men”, starring Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, Tom Cruise and Kevin Bacon, remembering the scene when Tom Cruise portraying a Navy JAG defense lawyer traps the hardcore Marine Colonel as portrayed by Jack Nicholson into admitting that a marine was tortured and killed by fellow marines. I’ll never forget Jack Nicholson as his character defiantly stood up and accused Tom Cruise of not being able to “handle the truth”. This is precisely how I feel about America’s “shock” and “disbelief” of how a “cowboy administration” supported by fake Christians, “handled their business” as they sought to find evidence (by any means necessary) for going to war against Iraq. If I sense that those who read my articles are truly interested in the topic of torture, I will dedicate an article next week to that topic, however, until then, I caution President Obama on shinning a light in places that have a history of being devoid of light. So, President Obama, please remember what happened to JFK as he exposed the demons and witches that lived in the haunted forests that you and your administration must trek through. Lions and tigers and bears….oh my.
I can't count the number of years I have been awakened by the TJMS. Jay Anthony Brown cracking his jokes; sible wilk claiming to be "miss goodie 2shoe"; boy will I miss them. I didn't get the chance to ask them what ever happened to "Dee Whiteman" or even Ms Dupree. Its as though someone has died; I really wasn't trying to hear on the local news that he had been let go by Clear Channel. It was my information source and I will miss him terribly.
After trying to listen to Steve Harvey this morning it wasn't the same; no disrespect to Steve, because I respect him as a successful black man doing his thing and doing what he do, but I like what I like and the TJMS supply an abundance of information to his listeners in Chicago; all I could do was turn off my radio; DAMN
Bye Tom; I just joined this site; I'm powerless of your demise here in Chicago, but I'm not powerless over logging into Blackamericaweb and keeping in touch; Thanks for all you do; keep doing it. I'll have to find a way to continue on without hearing the TJMS each morning.
There is this determination to project the end result of this singular action. One size does not fit all. (For those who say well he's done it before, perhaps you shouldn't believe everything you read or hear. The latest "source" in the police department is sharing what they say is a different story.) With distance and extensive therapy Chris is salvageable. He is young enough not to have this behavior become a part of his character and has the means to buy all the therapy he needs, and some help to disengage from what looks to be a toxic relationship. How about we focus on all those who don't have the means, information or the resources to get that help, both to avoid attracting abusers and becoming one. Because there are many women -- and men -- who go from one abuser/controlling person to another. Years ago I interviewed a man who married five women, four of whom were abusers and was looking for the sixth wife. He was sure that he could somehow fix the fact that his mother often physically beat up his father in front of him and his siblings. Most abuse is one of the worst legacies that we pass on from one generation to the next. We need to find a way to stop the cycle. Get back to me with a workable plan for that.
Today, Thursday March 12, 2009, there will be two shows on television -- on Oprah and on The Tyra Banks Show -- focused on abuse and teen dating. I sincerely hope that the shows reaches teens, adults, every gender. I am really not clear what people want. If you want the justice system to handle it, well, his day in court is coming. You want to know what happened, wait until the facts come out before your judging is cast in stone. You want him to heal, change and grow up, then advocate that he is in extensive therapy for two years, with five years probation and has to stay away from Fenty during that two year period, unless for business purposes. AND that she is also required to go into therapy IF she was throwing punches as well. But if you just want to continue the Chris Brown beat down, because you are vicariously dealing with your own mess, this is actually not helping you.
The thing is... IMHO, I am beginning to see more of an electronic lynching going on that seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the actual incident. There are others who have hurt women in the entertainment industry and I have never seen so much ongoing outrage and continued media coverage. Yes, we should continue the important dialog about abuse, but Brown and Fenty are the catalyst, not the poster child and whipping boy for this conversation,. We are now in approximately the seventh week and it continues. Has anyone questioned why?
The issue of abuse is definitely on my mind and I suppose that its on the minds of many, not just because of Rihanna and Chris (see the post below) but because there seems to be an increase in reported domestic violence, multiple victim murder/suicides We need to discuss this subject again and again, until there is a change in the minds of those abused and those who abuse. Or maybe it's on my mind because just yesterday I was told that a young man, straight A student, a senior,17, was kicked out of his house by his own mother. Why? Because her boyfriend was moving in and did not want him there. Or because just last night, a 14 month old is now in the hospital after being severely beaten by a teenaged boyfriend of the mother, why: Because the chid wouldn't do what he thought he should. The mother was beaten as well, but here is the thing: there were other people in the house at the time, who did nothing. What about you? Are you a part of the growing problem or part of the solution? In the spirit of enlightenment, below is an excerpt from one of my writings If it helps at least one person to take a hard look at his/her relationship...:.:
THE SOCIO-PREDATOR I was surprised to hear from Reese. We had a casual business relationship over the last two years. I had heard the tragic story about his estrangement from his wife because of her alleged sexual preferences, from other mutual contacts. He sounded so depressed, so victimized -- his wife was looking to take his life's work away after all. He was a musician -- not a lawyer or a businessman. I made suggestions for solutions that would protect his work. I also discussed how the business side of his music was at a standstill and sliding downhill. I don't know exactly when the conversation became personal, I hadn't been paying much attention to the secondary comments. "I've had a crush on you since I met you. Didn't you know?" I was stunned by this "revelation". He is a married man, so I never paid any attention to him. He told me months ago, that he was living with a married couple, friends of his. Now they were moving into a new house and he was essentially becoming homeless. We talked for a long time. He surprised me by calling back with poetry…written by him…for me. Wow. I had a free open airline ticket and thought that this was a good time for a business trip to Miami. If the personal didn't work, the business would. Interesting what one discovers when you are face to face with the reality of another human. Reese wasn't living with married friends, he was living with the woman with whom he had a relationship of over two years, and she wanted him out of her house. She wanted him gone because he was consuming her financially and emotionally -- and she was trying to summon the strength to get rid of him. Reese had actually left his wife for her -- another woman -- not because of alleged misbehavior. Reese was not the person he portrayed to the public. He was actually insecure, verbally abusive, had a tendency toward physical abuse, and a chronic liar. Reese was looking for a new place to land. After all, women had always taken care of him, even though he seemed to have a lot of anger -- even hatred -- for them, especially if they exhibited any emotional or personal strength. Reese was a predator. I wasn't going to be his next meal. Socio-predators show up in a variety of genders, sizes, and colors. A socio-predator is one who attaches him or herself to another human being using a variety of tactics to blend themselves into the lives of the unsuspecting victims. Socio-predators are more sinister extensions of the controlling personality. We speak of the male form of a socio-predator in a joking, yet somewhat reverent manner. "Oh, he's just a wolf in sheep's clothing." Someone who is a little mysterious, a little naughty and, well, a little romantic. Unfortunately, socio-predators, male or female, are voracious in consuming their victims emotionally and financially. They know who to target. They know how to make you their next victim unless you are paying attention and recognize the attributes of the socio-predator. PROFILE OF THE SOCIO-PREDATOR The term predator is normally used to identify someone who preys upon the unsuspecting child. These predators usually look for the child that seems unsure. The socio-predator preys upon adults -- male or female -- and has some generally distinctive attributes that you should be aware of: Charm is an important part of their facade. They seem to be so nice, so disarming. They are always in a little bit of a difficulty; there always seems to be a problem or crisis. They always need help, preferably yours. He or she is usually being victimized by someone else… at least according to him or her. From their distorted point of view, there is always someone who is doing something to them, creating a problem for them, hurting them somehow. They just don't understand why. Their focus is always on you in public. No one else gets your attention but him or her. If you choose to talk to anyone else, jealousy appears, or they isolate themselves until you come to their rescue. You are charmed by the attention, but the reality is that it is important to them that you become consumed with providing what they need. There is always an anger lying beneath the surface of their personality. They portray themselves as disliked, unloved, and misunderstood. "I don't know why no one likes me," is one of their more common complaints. Insecurity, jealousy, and a tendency to isolate themselves and you from other people are components that tend to surface at some point. You find yourself emotionally exhausted after dealing with them. Predators not only want what you offer materially, they want all of your emotional loyalty, all of what you are. It's fun at first to feel so needed. Then you begin to realize that what makes you you is being consumed by him or her. Money usually becomes a part of the support they need. Without realizing it, you have begun to spend money to help solve whatever the problem is. As time goes on, you realize there is always some kind of a problem. You've made an investment in the potential and now realize that there will be no return on that investment. Truth is usually not a part of the package that you have purchased. You begin to discover that there may be two or more sides to the sad stories they tell. They never take any responsibility for the situations they are in or the problems they have. It's always someone else's fault, your fault, never theirs. As long as you are compliant, the facade is usually what you experience. When you begin to question or not agree with him or her, a new personality appears. The person becomes cold, distant, mean, verbally abusive, emotionally abusive and in extreme cases, physically abusive. There is likely to be an attempt to make you feel guilty about upsetting them; the situation, in fact any situation, is your fault. Threats to end the relationship begin to be made. It is only when you give in or become compliant again that the new behavior stops and the facade reappears. You find yourself apologizing for everything, becoming more compliant "just to keep peace." This new personality is the real personality; as time goes on, the real personality becomes more prevalent in your relationship. As you are being emotionally consumed, you begin to believe that it's your responsibility to keep the real personality in check. If there are children involved, watch closely to see how the person relates to them. If these are his or her children, are they ignored, neglected, or abused? If they are yours, how are they treated when you aren't in the room? What do your children say about him or her when they are alone with you? Don't dismiss their reactions and responses; children have a good sense about whether an adult is worthy of their trust. Note: women are especially good at using their children as a part of the emotional package they get you involved in. As you become emotionally tied to the children, the children become the blackmail she uses to make sure that you are compliant. " I think I'll just move to California," or "I should go back to their father." These threats translate into "either you do what I want you to or you won't get to see the children again." There is never a change in their circumstances; financial and emotional independence never comes about. He or she always needs you. In reality, he or she needs to feed upon your emotional security until it becomes insecure, your financial stability until you are financially depleted. ARE YOU A TARGET? While anyone can be a target for a socio-predator, there are some of the attributes that make you a more likely candidate While anyone can be a target for a socio-predator, here are some of the attributes that make you a more likely candidate: You have a reputation for being the nice guy (male or female). Most people know that you'd do anything to help someone. You have a quality of naiveté. You expect people to be who they claim to be. If you are male, you have the "Superman Syndrome." You are always the knight in shining armor, the hero, the one who shows the way to the good life. You are the caretaker; you look for the stray cat, the homeless dog with puppies; you usually end up scratched or bitten in your relationships. You are a publicly secure person with hidden insecurities. You are good in the corporate world. You may be a professional with a degree or two. Education does not automatically make you smart when it comes to those you pick for relationships. If you are insecure on a personal level, your vulnerability shows, no matter how much you believe you hide it. You are meek, humble, and giving in nature. Socio-predators usually mistake kindness and humility as weaknesses that they can use to their advantage. When he or she discovers that a person with these characteristics is actually strong and unwilling to be submissive and consumed, he or she will usually run off. They are, after all, actually cowards. Unfortunately, before they slink away, the socio-predator may attempt to use physical force, spread lies to ruin your reputation, or create some extreme crisis that would cause you to remain involved with them. You tend to be the one who takes care of everyone, especially the "underdog." You have either the martyr mentality or the superman syndrome; you believe that it is your job to take on the often unhappy task of taking care of someone else whether he or she deserves it or not. You have a propensity for being victimized. You get used to being the victim -- not recognizing that it is a role you choose to play in your relationships. WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW A socio-predator does not become one unless he or she chooses to be one. The character of a socio-predator is not going to go away or change because of or in spite of anything you do or don't do. The ego of a socio-predator is huge; they view themselves as being psychologically superior. They know just what to do and what buttons to push to get what they want. He or she takes it as his or her responsibility to mold you into the person he or she needs you to be. If they are successful, you will find yourself defending their behavior, supporting their lies and living a life that is not yours but theirs. Predators consume, and when they are finished, they look for new prey. You may choose to allow this type of person into your life; that is your decision. However, you have a responsibility to yourself to recognize the risks that come with this decision, and at least draw a line in the sand as to how much of yourself you will allow another person to consume. Ask yourself: is the reward worth the risk?
I was listening to the show yesterday and was like " Is Sybill really that stupid?" The man from Barnes & Noble came on the show and explained what happened so why bash him the way he was? To me that was really ignorant! To argue about something as petty as this is beyond me and I know that there are many other fights worth fighting. I see now how stereotypes come into play, especially the one that we african-americans complain to much!!
CHAPTER 1
Everyone must face the reality that we will all die someday. The only questions are when, where, why, how, and what will decide our fate.
On December 9th, 1965, I Craig Lamont Corbin was born into a world unknowing of hate, cheat, rage and corruption. I was born into the world naked in more ways than one. I didn’t have any clothes on my body. Most importantly, I had a naked mind and no knowledge of what was transpiring in the world. I would soon be approaching the Vietnam War Era, in which thousands of young men died. This was just the beginning of my life.
When I was seven years old, I quickly learned how hard life can be through the mistakes we make. I had done something I felt may have shifted the pattern of my life, which would someday lead to self-destruction unless I straightened myself up.
I spotted silver dollars atop a shelf in my parents’ bedroom. Desperately in need of having those silver dollars, I gradually took them to buy candy and chips for my personal pleasure. Finally, the silver dollars were gone. With no concept of guilt, I thought nothing of it.
My father came home drunk that night. Curious as to what happened to his silver dollars, he asked my mother.
“Where the hell are my damn coins, Jackie?”
Surprised by his sudden out-burst, she said she didn’t know. I knew they were scattered all over Steelton stores, but I kept silent. As the night dragged on, my father became increasingly angry and less patient to the whereabouts of his silver dollars. Of course my brother and sisters denied it. I denied it as well. I wasn’t getting my ass kicked. Finally, my father’s patience ran out. He began taunting us kids. Without hesitation, my mother stepped in to protect us from being harmed.
The physical fight began and ended in disaster with a broken table and a lot of broken hearts. My father, whom I loved dearly, left our home and never returned. As I reminisce, I should have taken that ass beaten. With my confession, things may have taken another course down the road of life. In reality, I know I’m not the reason why my father left. I believe eventually he would have left someday anyhow. Who would know besides our Creator?...
Tom, In my opinion I think you are being too hard on Chris Brown. We all agree that a man should never hit a woman. This is a very serious issue. However, known of us really know the full details of what happened. I think both of them have serious issues they have had to deal with growing up thus affecting their behavior today. One of your listeners called in and gave his opinon on what kind of treatment Chris should receive. What we all fail to realize is that Chris knows exactly what a battered woman looks like. He grew up seeing his mother this way. I personally believe that they BOTH need continuous counseling and support from family, friends and fans. Also, you cannot expect the two of them to just not have feelings for them anymore. These are to very young people who think that they are in love. We all have to remember, kids mimick what they see and if this is what's been going on in their world then most likely they are gonna do what they see. Rhianna has anger management problems just as Chris does. We as African-American need to be giving sound advice and support to them rather than condeming them, especially Chris. I cannot understand how so many of us can sit back and not fully know what happened and yet give our opinion on what happened. Everyone keeps talking about the pictures, I for one have only seen one picture that was deliberately leaked to make Chris appear to be such a monster. Again, I see this also as the media taking another shot at our at our African-American brothers. Every oppurtunity they get to destroy one of us they will. But what's more appalling to me is that our on men sit back and allow this to happen. Instead of condeming him, try forgiveness and reaching out to help him. You have they avenue to do this and we know that so many follow in you footsteps. And even now that they are back together so soon, I believe that they need help now more than ever because it just appears to me that they are more concerned about their images and trying to hus everybody up than taking the time to deal with their issues. But od course this is just my opinion.
This is a very sad time for two real great and young performers. The blogosphere is blowing up with innuendo, commentary, and a whole lot of judgement. What you know: something happened to cause injury to one or both parties. There is now a new "rumor" for lack of a better term that there is a third party involved, at least according to The View. What you don't know: the facts and details. To speculate, condemn, judge, decide who is right and who is wrong, who is the victim and who isn't, before you have the facts and details is not the direction to go in.
Case in point: I personally know of two separate cases, both where the police were called, both where the actual aggressor was the woman, one of which the police sat and watched through the window before they came in and arrested HER because she was doing the beating, the other where he was arrested, humiliated, but later vindicated. Things are not always as they seem, wait until the facts are clear, then you can proceed with your judging.
One more thing: You become or tend to manifest in your life what you do not resolve. What you also may not know, Rihanna is very good at emotional pretense -- which she has done more than once as a "joke". On the other hand Brown grew up in an abusive home. Wait for the facts.
One last thing: One of the things I noticed in all of the remarks posted: Some of these postings appear to be from people who are either in or were a part of abusive relationships. If I am talking about you, and you are in this kind of relationship, get up get your things and get yourself to the nearest shelter where they will support and help you make the transition from victim to victor. Get help. If you are an abuser, there is nothing anyone could ever do that justifies psychological, physical, sexual, emotional abuse. Remember how it felt when you were abuse. Have the courage to get help today.

Divine Order
In this moment, a divine plan is unfolding in my life.
There may be times when events in my life just do not seem to make sense. I may question why something happened or how I ended up in my present circumstances.
With an increasing understanding of divine order, however, I realize that when my attention is focused solely on myself and my world of experiences, I am not seeing the whole picture. As I expand my vision through the lens of spiritual understanding, I take in the divine plan that is unfolding. I see order in my life and in the world.
From this expanded viewpoint, I watch as problems shrink in both size and importance. I relax and enjoy living in each now moment, allowing answers to come in the form of inner wisdom and divine solutions.
"From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way."--2 Corinthians 5:16

Today's Affirmation
I live from the determination of my heart.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
You know how life pushes me in ways I don’t want to go sometimes.
To that I say, “Keep pushing me!”
Even when my mind wants to give up, my heart wants the freedom that manifests after I take my step.
If I fall asleep, God, wake me up!
My soul is calling me to grow beyond myself and experience new aspects of its vibrant energy.
Thank You, God, for the inner movement that keeps me blazing forward.
Amen
While we continue to hear about stimulous packages and help for Wall Street and our Banking System, I truly believe this is the Year of the Jubilee. During the Jubilee, property should be returned to their owners. The government should allow these people to stay in their homes and call a State of Emergency just as if there was a flood or earthquake. Our states are being torn apart and the only people getting any help are the wealthy. The stimulous would help education and healthcare but what about the parents that are in other professions. We need help and we need it now. We need job creation in every field and job training for those jobs that will not return. Everyday, I am hearing of someone close to me losing their jobs and having to move back home or in with other family members. Our homeless shelters are overflowing and our food banks are out of food. We are in crisis mode. Our government should cancel all home foreclosures for at least a year. Allow people to pay what they can and change the adjustable rates to a fixed mortgage. Some of these people were not aware and if the government were truly trying to help these people, they would have made sure they had an FHA loan. The crisis has happened but something can be done. The banks cannot make any money on the homes at this point and it will help our communities. Vacant properties only breed drug houses and other crime. When President Clinton got rid of General Assistance, people spoke of the poor and who they were helping. General Assistance helped our Veterans more than anything and since then, we have seen more homeless people than ever. People that looked down on others are now finding themselves standing in line for food because they never dreamed they would be in this position. If you know someone in your family is in trouble, check on them and make sure they are doing fine. The suicide rate is very high and if we can just reach out to some of our loved ones, maybe we can save them from losing their lives. It seems dark but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. If we stick together, we can make it through this. We must start back bartering and selling merchadise to make money. There are always some small jobs to be done. I remember the old days and we must get back to basics if we want our country to survive.
I'm sure I'm not the only one to have seen this. On MSNBC, when the Obama's were getting out of the limo at the White House, for coffee with the Bush's, I saw two LAWN JOCKEYS to the right of the front door. Either a Secret Service agent or a White House guard stepped in front of the two statues with either leg blocking the view. The camera showed Michelle Obama giving Laura Bush the gift and when the camera showed them walking in the two statues were gone.
Like I said, I'm sure someone else saw this other than me, but then I started watching the coverage at 6am. I swear they looked like lawn jockey's and I don't know if they were just overlooked during the moving or what. And I also know what President Obama said about starting fresh and leaving old stuff behind, but this happened before he said that and I just want to know that I wasn't the only one that saw that !!

Surprise
I am enthusiastic about life!
To children, surprise may be their response to a fun party, an unexpected gift, or a new discovery. A surprise can be something fun, unforeseen, and new for me also.
At times, I am so amazed by a turn of events that it leaves me feeling overjoyed and blessed. And when a situation turns out better than expected, I am delighted.
My feeling surprised about a good outcome is a kind of wake-up call for me to accept something wonderful. It jump-starts my feeling of enthusiasm for life and being thankful to God for it all.
Removing any limitations on the goodness of God, I welcome my blessings.

Today's Affirmation
I am singing in harmony with life.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
Thank You for the deep connection we have with You and with all creation.
We gratefully blend our individual talents for the good of all.
We may have individual parts to sing, but there is only one song in the universe.
We join our thoughts and our voices in that unending song of Love.

Pray First
The spirit of God leads me in fulfilling one divine appointment after another.
I give myself a head start with any activity I am undertaking by first becoming centered in prayer. Attuned to Spirit, I release all negativity and feel the assurance of being free of self-imposed limitations. I am responsive to others and act in thoughtful and loving ways.
In quiet communion with the spirit of God within, I receive guidance that leads me to my purpose in the moment. In touch with my spiritual nature, I let divine love and light shape my thoughts, which then show forth in my words and actions.
From a starting point of prayer, I begin any journey on solid footing, with the path ahead clear of obstacles. I am directed from one divine appointment to the next and fulfilled in every way.

Case challenging his name on ballot set for 'conference'
A case that challenges President-elect Barack name on the 2008 election ballot citing questions over his citizenship has been scheduled for a "conference" at the U.S. Supreme Court.
Conferences are private meetings of the justices at which they review cases and decide which ones to accept for formal review. This case is set for a conference Dec. 5, just 10 days before the Electoral College is scheduled to meet to make formal the election of Obama as the nation's next president.
The Supreme Court's website listed the date for the case brought by Leo C. Donofrio against Nina Wells, the secretary of state in New Jersey, over not only Obama's name on the 2008 election ballot but those of two others, Sen. John McCain and Roger Calero.

LOS ANGELES—At a recent afternoon practice, jazz drummer Zach Harmon assumes the role of mentor for members of the jazz combo at Washington Preparatory High School. The group is off to a rocky start, and it's Harmon's job to help get them back on track. "What happened to your solo?" Harmon asks the keyboard player. "I got lost," the young player answers. Harmon turns to the drummer and the saxophonist. "I didn't hear any communication between the rhythm and the horns. Really start opening up your ears," he tells them, sounding a lot like two of his own mentors, pianist Herbie Hancock and trumpeter Terence Blanchard.
Before reaching the pinnacle of musical success, Hancock and Blanchard were not much different from the young musicians at Washington Prep. Despite being earnest and talented students, they had to rely on professionals like Harmon to point the way. Today, Hancock and Blanchard are expanding opportunities for public school students interested in jazz by connecting them with professional musicians who want to give back. Their Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz features "jazz in the classroom" programs that reach millions of students. "How else are people going to find out about the cultural history of America if they don't find out about jazz?" says Hancock, the institute's chairman.
The short answer is that most schools don't make music education a priority. Despite evidence that music instruction can boost student achievement and improve graduation rates, strapped public schools have been cutting back on music programs in order to give more time to core subjects like math and reading. The current economic slowdown could accelerate that trend.

Now that we’ve made history by electing our first African-American president, what has changed? On first blush, not much, especially when it comes to our schools. Indeed, as the spiraling United States economy takes precedence, education is moving to the back burner, though sadly it was never really on the front burner during the campaign. Meanwhile Washington high society is swooning as chatty lifestyle stories document the courtship of Barack Obama’s daughters by a bevy of exclusive private schools. Am I the only one who is outraged here?
Again, I feel compelled to point out, one last time: Sarah Palin was taken tirelessly to the mat for every detail of her personal life — her mothering skills, hunting proclivities, reading habits (such as they were), the wacky names of her children, her pricey outfits and even the height of her heels. By contrast, the Obama family’s move from toney Chicago private school (chosen before presidential security was an issue) to toney Washington private school draws little national commentary. Why? Because for the ruling American political and professional class, not to mention the news media, sending one’s child to public school is unthinkable; and has nothing to do with public education policy. (Love that Teach for America, though! And universal preschool — it’s great! Computers! Innovation! Stimulation!

Roger Sealy pretended he did. The Broomfield man sent notices to several newspapers saying his and his wife Jackee's new boy was named Carter Barack Obama Sealy.
Roger Sealy got some ink and did a few interviews, enhancing the story by saying he'd named his other two kids Brooke Trout Sealy and Cooper John Elway Sealy.
But then his mother-in-law busted him, telling the Boulder Daily Camera that it was just a joke.
Mom Jackee dug out some birth certificates Wednesday and showed a Daily Camera reporter that the real names were Brooke Emma Sealy and Cooper Jacob Sealy.

Doctors in Arizona thought a Phoenix-area woman had a possible brain tumor, but it turned out there was something else penetrating her brain – a worm.
Rosemary Alvarez started experiencing numbness in her arm and blurred vision. She went to the emergency room twice and had a cat scan, but everything came up clear, MyFOXPhoenix.com reported.
It wasn’t until doctors took a closer look at an MRI that they discovered something very disturbing.
“Once we saw the MRI we realized this is something not good,” neurosurgeon, Dr. Peter Nakaji told the news station. “It's something down in her brain stem which is as deep in the brain as you can be.”
Alvarez was wheeled into surgery where Nakaji and his colleagues were expecting to remove a tumor, but they uncovered a worm instead.

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, aka “Joe the Plumber,” has signed a deal to write a new book entitled “Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream.” To capitalize on his recent fame, Wurzelbacher is planning to release it on Dec. 1 – less than two weeks from now. The New York Times reports that the book “will address Mr. Wurzelbacher’s ideas about American values.” Wurzelbacher, who had failed to pay his taxes and wasn’t licensed as a plumber, revealed during the campaign that he was once on welfare but is opposed to welfare programs. He also said, “Social Security’s a joke.”

CNN’s Rick Sanchez highlighted yesterday that during last weekend’s G20 Economic Summit, leaders from around the world refused to acknowledge or shake hands with President Bush as they walked on stage for a photo-op. As Sanchez explained, everyone was “greeting each other and shaking hands, but Bush walks with his head down like the dejected most unpopular kid in high school.”

Michael Moore: 'It's the end of capitalism as we know it'
David Edwards and Muriel Kane
Following Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's admission that there is currently little chance of a federal bailout for the country's beleaguered automakers, things are looking bleak for the industry and the possibility of a complete collapse does not seem out of the question.
CNN's Larry King spoke about the causes of the failure with Michael Moore, who first made his reputation 20 years ago with a film about the decline of General Motors in his home town of Flint, MI.
Moore was emphatic in blaming the automakers' problems on their own bad decisions over many years and not on the current economic crisis. "General Motors has had this philosophy from the beginning that what's good for General Motors is good for the country," he told King. "So their attitude was we'll build it and you buy it."
"Eventually, the consumer got smart," Moore continued, "so they started to buy other cars. General Motors still wouldn't change. They still kept building the wrong cars, and more and more people stopped buying them."

Army shreds documents on friendly fire deaths
John Byrne
In late 2006, two American soldiers from Fort Carson died in Iraq. The army said the privates were killed by enemy action. But in October of this year, Salon revealed that the two men had in fact been killed by friendly tank fire.
Now, Salon has found that the documents related to the men's deaths were shredded just hours after the story was published.
"Three soldiers at Fort Carson, Colo. -- including two who were present in Ramadi during the friendly fire incident, one of them just feet from where Nelson and Suarez died -- were ordered to shred two boxes full of documents about [Albert] Nelson and [Roger] Suarez," reporter Mark Benjamin writes. "One of the soldiers preserved some of the documents as proof that the shredding occurred and provided them to Salon. All three soldiers, with the assistance of a U.S. senator's office, have since been relocated for their safety."
The night the Salon story ran, Oct. 14, 2008, a staff sergeant told three soldiers to shred two boxes of documents relating to the privates' deaths.

Bay Buchanan tried spouting the right-wing meme that "this is still a center-right country" when she was on D.L. Hughley's CNN show this weekend, and he had a simple question:
Hughley: Bay, do you think all the evidence -- even the election? That's the biggest evidence we would have. It's kind of shifted, don't you think?

A guard keeps watch from a tower at the military facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.A federal district judge, Richard Leon, today ordered the Bush administration "forthwith" to release five Algerian detainees who have been held in Guantanamo without charges since January, 2002 -- almost seven full years. The decision was based on the court's finding that there was no credible evidence that the 5 detainees intended to take up arms against the U.S. The court found sufficient evidence to justify the ongoing detention of a sixth Algerian detainee.
When they were detained in 2001 in Bosnia, the Bush administration claimed that they were plotting to bomb the U.S. embassy in Sarajevo. Buth once they were shipped to Guantanamo, the U.S. backed off that accusation and instead claimed they intended to travel to Afghanistan to fight against the U.S.
I don't want to say too much about the legal reasoning behind the decision because it was just issued via an oral ruling from the bench, and I haven't yet been able to obtain a copy of the judge's decision. For now, then, the following can be noted about this landmark ruling -- the first time a court has ruled that the Government's evidence is insufficient to justify ongoing imprisonment of a detainee as an "enemy combatant":

Katie Couric discussed her infamous interview with Sarah Palin Wednesday night on the "Late Show with David Letterman." Couric took Letterman inside the process of scheduling Palin's interviews — the campaign actually rushed an interview because "they didn't want a week to go by without hearing anything from Governor Palin," as Couric put it — and said the campaign was "very generous" and gave her "tremendous access" to Palin.
Couric said that Palin may have gotten tripped up because she was not prepared to answer more general questions during their interview following her visit to the UN.
"I started by asking her who most impressed her as Vice President and why, what was the best and worst things Dick Cheney had done as Vice President, why was Roe v. Wade an ill-conceived or a bad Supreme Court decision," Couric told Letterman. "And I think she really hadn't anticipated those kinds of questions, so I think it might've thrown her off a bit. And then we got into foreign policy — because, after all, she was at the UN meeting with world leaders — and clearly she was struggling with some of those answers."

RAYMONDVILLE, Texas — A Texas judge has set a Friday arraignment for Vice President Dick Cheney, former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and others named in indictments accusing them of responsibility for prisoner abuse in a federal detention center.
Cheney, Gonzales and the others will not be arrested, and do not need to appear in person at the arraignment, Presiding Judge Manuel Banales said.
In the latest bizarre development in the case, the lame-duck prosecutor who won the indictments was a no-show in court Wednesday. The judge ordered Texas Rangers to go to Willacy County District Attorney Juan Guerra's house, check on his well-being and order him to court on Friday.
Half of the eight high-profile indictments returned Monday by a Willacy County grand jury are tied to privately run federal detention centers in the sparsely populated South Texas county. The other half target judges and special prosecutors who played a role in an earlier investigation of Guerra.

He has returned to where he did not wish to return. Back to walking the spotted white marble corridors of the Russell Senate Office Building. Back to Room 241, which says "Senator John McCain -- Arizona" on the door, and where a trickle of people stroll in on this morning in hopes of getting his pre-autographed photo and to inquire about obtaining tickets for Barack Obama's inauguration. Others stare. He has perfected his own middle-distance stare and the curt nod of someone coping.
He quietly enters the office a few minutes after 8 a.m. on this Wednesday, tightly smiles at a receptionist and, without a word to anyone, makes a hard left through a suite of his aides' offices that leads to his own. He is alone. He walks now without so much as a single bodyguard, the Secret Service having disappeared when his dream of winning the presidency did, 15 days ago. It is a jarring reminder of just how much a defeated candidate's station changes in about two weeks.

I am really not clear about what people want. If you want the justice system to handle it, well, Brown's day in court is coming, and like everyone else, he is innocent until proven guilty. If you want to know what happened, wait until the facts come out before your judging is cast in stone. If you want him to heal, change and grow up, then advocate that he is in extensive therapy for two years, with five years probation and has to stay away from Fenty during that two year period, unless for business purposes. AND that she is also required to go into therapy IF she was throwing punches as well. But if you just want to continue the Chris Brown beat down, because you are vicariously dealing with your own mess, this is actually not helping you, and -- whether you are the giver, recipient or were the unwilling witness of abuse and you haven't resolved the resulting effects -- if you are doing it you need to take responsiblity, if you are receiving it you need to take responsiblity for your self and any children that are witnessing/experiencing this behavior; you know what Christ said about casting that first stone...
The thing is... IMHO, I am beginning to see more of an electronic lynching going on that seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the actual incident. There are others who have hurt women in the entertainment industry and I have never seen so much ongoing outrage and continued media coverage. Yes, we absolutely should continue the important dialog about abuse, but Brown and Fenty are the catalyst, not the poster child and whipping boy for this conversation. We are now in approximately the seventh week and it continues, having had more coverage on NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC and all other outlets than the two Pennsylvania judges who received $2.5 million in kickbacks to put our teens and youth in a specific privatized prison. Even Rick Sanchez did not mention the story until I twittered him about it. Should we not question why?
