The Orleans Fourth of July Committee has announced the theme
for this year’s parade. The winner of the theme contest this year is Trevor Collins, a fourth grader at the Orleans Elementary School.
The theme is;” Hot Summer Days and Cool OceanSprays”
The Orleans Parade will be on Sat. July 4 at 10:00 a.m. The fireworks held at Rock Harbor are scheduled for Friday July 3rd, with a rain date Sunday July 5th.
Bruce Ayer, the long time head of the Friends of the Fourth has been selected as our Grand Marshall. The Friends of the Fourth is a private fund raising group which support our fireworks.
We are looking forward to many returning parade entries as well as hoping to have new people and organizations join us. A reminder to those who wish to enter Antique cars,: We now have a policy of placing the cars at the front of the parade, in order to eliminate the problems of over heating.
The Friends of the Fourth is seeking donations in order that Orleans will be able to provide both the parade and fireworks in the future.
Eastham and Brewster residents, who benefit from our fireworks, are encouraged to make donations also.
Donations to the Friends of the Fourth may be sent to PO Box 242 East Orleans 02643.
Applications for Parade entries can be found at The Chamber of Commerce, Town Hall, Post Offices and the Town of Orleans website.
