Hello, I am concerned with the very vocal minority that has set out to derail what most of the American people voted for in November when we pulled the lever for President Barack Obama. That was change and get America back on track from the downward spiral it was on under continued illegitimate Republican rule. As we see that CNN refuses to air our ads to rid the network or Lou Dobbs or Fox Networks continued racist and unfair and bias attacks. Then why are we the good people who made our voices heard in November now letting a small and troublesome group continue to hijack the progress we want made to move American forward not backward. How long will we continue to remain passive and quite. They have made their intentions very clear they want President Obama to Fail, They would rather have the country tank then support a Black President or any forward thinking that would move us past such a primitive level as shooting wolves from planes and moving us toward a more humane and intelligent way to deal with our continued time on the plant without destroying ourselves and everything on it.
It is time for those who wanted change take charge and move our movement into the streets and town hall meetings to argue our point to shed light on lies, to get both sides of the story told. To continue our internet assault as well as targeting those who spew lies and untruths by targeting their advertisers. Hitting them where it hurts $$. They plan to stay on this until the elections to defeat the democrats. We also need to be on it to counter their negative assaults on the uninformed. If Corporate America controls the airways then we can control the streets and how our dollars are spent. Now that the blue dog democrats have been outed and targeted then they must also pay the price, we must inform the people of whom they have monetary allegiance to other than the voters.
I feel it is time for the people to speak , if we really want change, if we really want this administration to succeed , if we truly want progress than we the people need to be about the business of getting that across to those who wish to block progress for their own political gain and not that of the people. If not now when. When it is time to vote again after those who wish the country harm have some success or are we willing to invest the time now.
I SAY IT IS TIME TO ACT NOW. STAND UP AND LETS GET INTO THE STREETS ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY AND FIGHT FOR WHAT'S RIGHT AND WHAT WE BELIVIE IN.

Barack Obama Is Our President
Yesterday evening when President Obama gave his speech at the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan, New York, before a celebrative audience that was honoring the NAACP’s one hundred year anniversary, the President reminded me why I voted for him. Simply, President Obama inspires me to become the best person that I can be. In another life, Barack Obama would have made a great Baptist preacher. Great Preachers have the ability through the use of rhapsodizing sermons to stir positive emotions that lay semi-dormant in the hearts of their parishioners. Consequently, these emotions as channeled by the Preacher in conjunction with an interaction with the Holy Spirit, creates a sense of “oneness” with God that ultimately encourages individuals to be the best that they can be. As our President attempts to guide a “ship” named “United States” through near record unemployment and fiscal pessimism, he like a good Baptist Preacher, must find a way through the use of words, to positively inspire and motivate all Americans to rise and become the best that they can possibly be. Let there be no mistake, President Obama a man of multicultural descent, is quite aware that if the national unemployment rate is 9.5, then in Black and Brown neighborhoods across America, that particular statistic doubles.
“Change” as envisioned by President Obama, begins in the form of providing our youth with a superior education, which in turn will empower them with high self esteem and confidence. High self esteem and confidence are important personal qualities that will prepare America’s youth as they face the challenges of the 21st century. The education of our youth should be rooted in our homes and should be directed and meticulously managed by parents / guardians who understand that it is more important for our Black and Brown children to understand the relativity of an isosceles triangle as it pertains to mechanical engineering, than prioritizing the mechanics of their child’s basketball jump shot. In order to ensure that the “circle of economic inferiority” is forever broken in Black and Brown neighborhoods, there must be a re-dedication to academic excellence as overseen by adults who are willing to become mentors to our youth.
Between 1910 and 1930 nearly one million Black and Brown Americans migrated from the South to the North in hope of creating a better way of life for themselves and their family. During this timeframe, a Black renaissance was born from the minds of educated Blacks in cities across America. It’s been 99 years since our first and last Black renaissance in America. If you listened closely to President Obama as he spoke to the audience, he directly challenged Black and Brown America to become economically empowered through education. Education is the key that unlocks economic opportunities and shatters “glass ceilings”. In commemoration of the NAACP’s 100 year anniversary, and the 99 years since the birth of the 1910 Black American renaissance, let us as Black and Brown Americans today make a pledge to begin a new renaissance of education which begins in our homes, in our places of worship and in our schools. No more excuses my people, we must become more involved in steering our youth toward economic independence and global empowerment via love and via education as we take an active stand in preparing our children to be the best Americans that they can possibly be.
In closing I’d like to end this article with the last paragraph of Maya Angelou’s “Still I rise” poem:

These are a small selection of some of the racially-charged comments posted to the conservative 'Free Republic' blog Thursday, aimed at U.S. President Barack Obama's 11-year-old daughter Malia after she was photographed wearing a t-shirt with a peace sign on the front.
The thread was accompanied by a photo of Michelle Obama speaking to Malia that featured the caption, "To entertain her daughter, Michelle Obama loves to make monkey sounds."
Though this may sound like the sort of thing one might read on an Aryan Nation or white power website, they actually appeared on what is commonly considered one of the prime online locations for U.S. Conservative grassroots political discussion and organizing - and for a short time, the comments seemed to have the okay of site administrators.
Moderators of the blog left the comments - and commenters - in place until a complaint was lodged by a writer doing research on the conservative movement, almost a full day later.
"Could you imagine what world leaders must be thinking seeing this kind of street trash and that we paid for this kind of street ghetto trash to go over there?" wrote one commenter.
"They make me sick .... The whole family... mammy, pappy, the free loadin' mammy-in-law, the misguided chillin', and especially 'lil cuz... This is not the America I want representin' my peeps," wrote another.
Such was the onslaught of derision on the site that the person who originally complained about the slurs, a Kristin N., claims only one comment in the first hundred posted actually criticized the remarks as inappropriate.
A note on the front of the blog reads, "Free Republic does not advocate or condone racism, violence, rebellion, secession, or an overthrow of the government," but one comment on the thread read, "This disgusting display makes me more and more eager for the revolution," while another read, "I never actually wnated [sic] to be a pistol before but..."
After attention from other blogs, the thread was suppressed and placed under review, but before long it was returned to the site intact, and attracted a new series of racial slurs when the original complaint email was posted publicly to the site, with the sender's email address intact.
"The writer has a point," wrote site owner Jim Thompson sarcastically. "We should steer clear of Obama's children. They can't help it if their old man is an American-hating Marxist pig."
"I agree Jim," wrote commenter, by the nickname NoobRep. "The kids didn't pick their commie pinko pansy of a father. Nor did they choose to be put into the spotlight. But Obama/Soetoro is fair game and so is his witch of a wife."
"Poor kids. I hope they're not 'punished with a baby'," wrote another. "Hopefully they won't deal cocaine like the Kenyan."
"DIRTBAGS! All of them. Our [White House] is now a joke to the rest of the world. We have no respect and this is not going to turn out well, mark my words. We will be hit, and much worse than last time. We are now seen as weak and vulnerable. Ghetto and Chicago thugs have taken over."
Only after significant negative attention from a host of left wing political blogs did the maintainers of the Free Republic site place the thread under review for a second time, before finally pulling it.
In the wake of the controversy, some Free Republic posters complained about the vitriol.
One poster by the name of "fullchroma" wrote, "To Jim Thompson: The recent uptick here in racist vitriol, aimed at Barrack, Michelle and their children has made me wonder if I belong. My objection to Obama has nothing to do with skin tone. Is the ugly stereotype of Conservative racism true?"
Another, going by the name of TChris, wrote, "Free Republic is a political discussion forum. It SHOULD be beneath us as a group to stoop to such juvenile tactics as I see increasing here lately. Do we REALLY have to insult Mrs. Obama's appearance like a clique of nasty 14-year-old girls?"
But such opinions were not shared by all. Said Roses of Sharon, "Poor libs .... Too late, the battle has been joined."

Never before in the history of America has it become more apparent to those who identify themselves as “guardians of Aryan purity and Aryan superiority have life in America been more upside down. Sacred members of the old guard (Pat Buchanan, Tom Tancredo and a few other good old boys) that have been entrusted to carry the torch that houses the “eternal flame” of racial intolerance and racial indignation have been insidiously attacked and subdued by race mixing liberals who have forsaken the angelic twang of country music for the synthesized rhythmic beat of rap. Good Lordy Miss Claudey, the Colonel has turned over in his grave! What was once a small ripple in Norman Rockwell’s pond of tranquility has now manifested into a Tsunami of Black and Brown culture. Putting it simply, Mayberry has integrated. Ma, call the National Guard!
The Reality of it all
The first major ripple in the pond occurred on May 17, 1954 when the Supreme Court decided in the case of Brown versus the Board of Education Topeka, that public schools that purposely separated Colored students from White students, were guilty of denying Colored students the same educational opportunities that were afforded to White students. Justices of the Supreme Court liberally articulated this “arrangement” as being an inequity and by a vote of 9-0, public school segregation in America officially ended. Further, the Justices interpreted that racial segregation prevented young Colored minds from receiving the necessary academic and social tools that would enable them to fairly compete with their White contemporaries. (Well ain’t that the point?) Although there were many lawyers who argued before the Court to rip down the “curtain” that provided cover and concealment for those of us who hide behind granddaddy’s window of racial fear, lets take a moment to recognize the emergence of Thurgood Marshall, a gifted young Colored NAACP lawyer, who subsequently, in 1967 would later be appointed as the first Colored Justice to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court. Thank you very much President Lyndon Baines Johnson for tossing a stone in Mayberry’s pond, now you know why you and Miss Lady Bird were never invited to our annual fish fry and cross burning gala.
It can be argued that the second ripple in the pond occurred on December 1, 1955 in Birmingham, Alabama, when a Colored woman named Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her bus seat, as mandated by the South’s “Jim Crow Law”, to a White man who understood that because he was born White, it was his inherent right to claim the seat that Miss Park was sitting on. This bold (OK, brave) and defiant 42 year old woman was the spark that manifested to liberals the meaning of their rebellion which they now consider to be a righteous cause.
This modern day civil rights campaign which was birthed by Miss Parks, compelled partisans and non partisans of civil rights to re-think and to re-read the words of The American Declaration of Independence which states, “That we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." The choice that Miss Rosa Parks made on December 1, 1955, to take a stand against what liberals say was an unjust and an immoral law, defined this stubborn (OK, dignified) woman, before the world, as being the catalyst of a movement that knocked Dixie to its knees. Sacred carriers of the torch that housed the “eternal flame” took notice as the ripples in the pond began to spread.
The third and most heart stopping ripple that tipped over Andy’s and Opie’s fishing boat, occurred on November 4, 2008. This was the infamous date that the Democratic Presidential nominee, Barack Obama, a Colored man of mixed heritage with a funny sounding name, defeated White Republican Presidential nominee, John McCain for the office of the Presidency of the United States of America. We’ve received reports that on that day, White people across America ripped the hair out of their scalp, chain smoked Marlboro Red cigarettes, drank countless bottles of whiskey, beat their children for listening to Jay Z and consequently, bought thousands of rounds of rifle ammunition as they breathlessly awaited for a sign from their local Grand Dragon that the much anticipated race war was about to commence.
And now, adding final insult to our injury, a female Puerto Rican from the Bronx, New York, who also has a funny sounding name, has been nominated to replace albeit a liberal, a White Man, to sit as a judge on the highest court of the United States of America. The ghost of Confederate President Jefferson Davis has just peed on himself.

Sotomayor who?
Sonia Sotomayor’s bio illustrates that she was born June 25, 1954 in the Bronx, New York, from parents of Puerto Rican descent. Judge Sotomayor’s trek through life as a young lady has been marked with both tragedy and triumph. Raised in the tough housing projects of both East and South Bronx, New York (isn’t that the place where there’s a bunch of Yankees?) and forced as an 8 year old to contend with being a diabetic, young Sonia understood early in life the meaning of determination and survival. Her father, Juan Sotomayor, a tool- and- die worker with a third grade education, spoke a limited amount of English and died when Sonia was only nine years old. Sonia’s mother, Celina, a Woman’s Army Corps veteran during World War II, worked as a nurse to support Sonia and Sonia’s brother Juan Junior after the death of her husband Juan.
A condensed snapshot of Judge Sotomayor’s academic accomplishes include being honored as her Catholic High School’s Valedictorian, graduating in 1976 from Princeton University, Summa Cum Laude, and in 1979 graduating from Yale University with a law degree. Acknowledged and admired by past New York Mayors and past U.S. Presidents for her talents as a skilled litigator and arbitrator, Judge Sotomayor has steadily climbed the ladder of professional success and as a tribute to her hard work and experience, was nominated on May 26, 2009, by President Barack Obama, to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice David Souter. If confirmed by Congress, Judge Sotomayor would be the first Hispanic and only the third woman to be seated as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

It’s been brought to the attention of our newspaper’s chief editor, Mr. Harlan P. Beauregard that liberals have secretly conspired to contact Father Patrick Mahoney, Hooterville’s only Catholic priest, in an attempt to drive away evil spirits from a local resident, who according to those ignorant liberals, goes by the name of Mr. Charlie. Mr. Beauregard has further discovered after reading Hooterville’s white pages, that currently, there is no “Mr. Charlie” that resides in Hooterville; however, because the names, Hannity, Buchanan, Chaney and Limbaugh are always mentioned in conjunction with the anonymous “Mr. Charlie”, we are compelled as God fearing “Real Americans” to contact the aforementioned brethren and warn them that liberals are trying to drive the devil out from them. No sir, if there’s to be an exorcism conducted in Hooterville; it will be performed by the good Reverend Percy T. Williams who is a bonafide Christian and gun shop owner. In our attempt to locate Mr. Charlie and show our support, local volunteers are placing “We love Mr. Charlie” fliers on the windshields of all vehicles parked in the parking lot of the “Galaxy Drive-In Theatre” located on county road 111. If anyone locates Mr. Charlie before we do, please inform him that Reverend Williams will be performing exorcisms after the annual fish fry and cross burning gala.

WARREN, Pa. — A northwestern Pennsylvania newspaper is apologizing for running a classified advertisement calling for the assassination of President Barack Obama.
Warren Times Observer Publisher John Elchert says the ad appeared Thursday. It read, "May Obama follow in the steps of Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy!" The four presidents were all assassinated.
Elchert tells The Associated Press that the newspaper's advertising staff didn't make the historical connection.
He says the newspaper turned information over to police and that the Secret Service is investigating the person who placed the ad.
A note in Friday's paper says the newspaper "apologizes for the oversight."

RNC Chairman Michael Steele is teaming up with Rep. Michele Bachmann, asking Republicans for their help blocking public funding for ACORN, the progressive community organizing group.
Bachmann is sponsoring an amendment that would block some $8.5 billion from being made available to the organization, according to a fundraising email from Steele. The group was a frequent target of Republicans during the 2008 election for its voter registration efforts.
"Over $50 million in federal funding money has found its way into the hands of ACORN's leftist activists over the last several years, but now the Democrats are about to make $8.5 billion more in tax-payer funds available to this radical group," Steele wrote to supporters.
The House blocked a similar amendment of Bachmann's just last week, which would have barred groups facing indictment from receiving public funds.
Bachmann spoke out against funding ACORN in a Thursday morning press conference.
"This is about how Congress spends the people's money in our country and its about the bar that Congress sets for accessing federal funding. The question before us is, it a right that anyone is entitled to or is it a privilege that must be earned?"
Steele urged Republicans to talk to their legislators.
"It's time we told Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, and Barack Obama that we won't tolerate using our tax dollars to pay off their electoral support machine. That's why I hope you'll take this opportunity to send Barney and Nancy an eCard to let them know that the Democrats' assault against our free election right to "One Person, One Vote" and the Rule of Law will not be tolerated."

RNC Chairman Michael Steele's fill-in stint as the host of Bill Bennett's radio talk show has produced a handful of quasi-embarrassing moments -- most notably his claim that Mitt Romney's Mormonism helped doom him in the Republican Primary.
At the very end of the nearly two-hour segment, it turns out, was another whack Steele took at his fellow Republicans. Responding to a caller disparaging the National Council for a New America -- the new Republican re-branding effort -- the RNC Chairman joined the fray, saying he had "a problem" with the notion, as put forth by former Gov. Jeb Bush, that the party needed to move beyond the legacy of Ronald Reagan.
"This tour is not about bringing minorities to the Republican Party," Steele said, correcting his caller. "This listening tour that these individuals have put in place is their way, as they said, to look forward, bring about a grassroots caucus and to bring moderates and like-minded Democrats to a series of public forums around the country where we can have a debate of ideas. Now, on its face I see nothing wrong with that. But if you are going to go and start this and start slamming Ronald Reagan, I have a problem. And it is going to be an issue. Because you can't blame the past particularly when that past contributed to the success of the party."

In offering his objections to the messaging coming from the NCNA, Steele joins a host of other Republican officials. Still, it remains rare to see the head of a national political committee disparage major players in his own party. In addition to Bush, the NCNA includes former Gov. Mitt Romney, Rep. Eric Cantor, and Sen. John McCain.
Later in the program, Steele was told that he should have run against Barack Obama in 2008, to which he responded, "It would have been an interesting race." When another caller lamented the media's treatment of Gov. Sarah Palin, he said the issue was endemic to all true conservatives, before saying he preached a type of political philosophy that has people "looking over their shoulders and wondering whether or not Michael Steele is standing there."
"Look, the fact that Sarah is a conservative," he said. "Michael Steele is a conservative, Bill Bennett is a conservative, a Jack Kemp was a conservative. We were a target, we were a ready target for these guys... but the strength of conservatism is that it is real and in its realism it has a way to go out to talk to people and connect to people. That's the biggest threat that we offer. And that's the threat I want to take to the streets everyday. I want them looking over their shoulders and wondering whether or not Michael Steele is standing there. Because I will be, with you [caller] standing right next to me and a whole lot of other conservatives."
A Greek hermit, Republicans and the Return of “The Street Fighter” – Sonny Chiba
When I sit down to write an article, I’m often challenged by the thought of how in style and format, to present the theme of my article to the reader. I believe that reading should be informative yet fun for the individual who takes the time from his or her busy schedule to read what I am trying to convey in written words. This is why I never try to “impress” my readers with the over use of “twenty dollar words” which some writers use in a narcissistic attempt to prove their literary intellect. To borrow a term from the Republicans, (which I do with much hesitation and unease) I am not an elitist. As my brother Terry would say, “I’m just a poor Black child from the ghetto trying to make it”. Additionally, I believe what I write should be historically accurate and from my heart. Which brings me to today’s article which is entitled in abbreviation, “The Hermit”.
I remember many years ago reading a story about a man named Diogenes who lived in ancient Greece approximately four hundred years before the birth of Christ. It is believed that Diogenes was born from a very wealthy family and that his father, Hicesias was a successful banker. As a young man, Diogenes was a pupil of Antisthenes who himself was a pupil of the Greek philosopher Socrates. So, it can be assumed that the young Diogenes of Greece was well educated and lived a life surrounded by the very best that money could buy. What I think is particularly interesting about Diogenes’ story is that he like his father, ventured into banking and became independently wealthy, however, because of a banking scandal that he was personally involved in, (it is believed that he defaced for political reasons, coins that were used as Greek currency) Diogenes was exiled from his home town of Sinope. Stripped of his opulence and social status, Diogenes was forced to live a life of a hermit, living in a bathtub and walking the streets of Athens holding a lit lantern both night and day in search of an honest man who could restore his faith in all that he believed to be best for himself and his beloved Greece.
OK, I might be slightly twisted in how I think, but I see a very distinct parallel between Diogenes, a successful banker born of extreme wealth and privilege who was ultimately disgraced because of his personal involvement in banking crimes, and the picture most American voters conjure when they think of an image that represents today’s Republican Party. It’s no secret that the Republican Party because of their ideology of deregulating the banking industry, which in itself, led to miscalculations and crimes that nearly crippled the world’s economies, has been disgraced and “exiled” from many governmental seats of power that they once held.
Today, as Republicans try to cope with a multitude of political defeats and the fact that they’re no longer the “top dog” on the block, I am often amused and in complete amazement as I see contending Republican Party leaders one by one being paraded (in Virginia Beach, Virginia we would call it being “pimped”) on television and radio, as the Party attempts (like Diogenes the hermit, walking with his lit lantern in hand) to find the “golden child” who will permanently destroy America’s positive image of President Barack Obama and will restore the Republican Party to the Ronald Regan “golden era” of power and prominence (in their minds) that older Republicans gleefully recall (as spittle dangles from their chin) in the mode of telling bedtime stories to their grandchildren and in the manner of misty eyed interviews given on Fox News. In half jest, I believe that most Republicans dream of an America where one out of every two schools and every Navy aircraft carrier is named after Ronald Regan and the United States is viewed globally as an empire, backed by our military, which by the way is manned by every American male child (no gays need apply) whose family isn’t in the top 3% income bracket. In this Republican Party utopia, “Praise God and pass the ammunition” would follow every “real Christian’s” amen and all of America’s minorities would know their place without questioning the laws that are legislated by the state. (Kind of reminds me of the old Dixiecrats mantra) Indeed I believe that deregulated banks and insurance companies are the bedtime fantasies that places a smile on most Republican sleeping faces as they dream of profits that always benefit Wall Street CEOs and stock holders more than they benefit the financial interests of the average American who toil long hours in offices, factories, on highways and in fields, as they struggle to provide shelter, food and clothing for their families.
It is not my belief that all Republicans are deranged and evil, but, what am I and others to think when we hear the anti-American ramblings of Limbaugh, Hannity, Bachmann, Beck, and Chuck Norris. Yes, even the American icon, Chuck Norris has fallen into the trap of conservative media’s hypnotic mind control. Mr. “Karate Man” has just recently predicted while giving an interview on Glen Beck’s radio show that Texans would pick up their guns in revolution against President Obama and the United States Government and in the end, Texas would secede from the United States allowing him to be Texas’ president. I’m NOT making this up… where’s Brother Bruce Lee to kick off into Mr. Norris’ old deranged butt when you need him? Hell, does anyone have Sonny Chiba’s phone number ? Anyway… in remembering the scene from Eddie Murphy’s “Coming to America”, where the young African Prince (Eddie Murphy) hands a bagful of money to the homeless Duke Brothers who like Diogenes had gone from riches to rags, Democrats should never forget that by chance, there is always a comeback. My only hope is that when the Republican Party is afforded the opportunity to lead our country again, (trust me, life and politics are cyclical) that they will have purged themselves of their current “political discontents” and will have found via Diogenes example of keeping a lantern lit night and day, that one honest person who will not forget that America is an ever changing country that embraces both liberal and conservative values.
Presently, President Obama is in a position to nominate a new Supreme Court Justice due to Justice David Souter announcing his plans to retire from the Supreme Court. President Obama’s nomination will mark the first time in fifteen years that a President who is a Democrat will be afforded that opportunity. My personal guess is that President Obama will select Sonia Sotomayor who is a judge originally from the Bronx, New York. I believe her nomination and eventual confirmation as a Justice on the country’s highest court is the best for our country and it would be terrific for instilling pride in an ever growing Hispanic American population. Not to mention, being from the Bronx, she would definitely keep it real ! I wonder how the “hermits in exile” will respond. Only time and lit lanterns will tell. So, in closing, if you see Republican National Chairman Michael Steele in your neighborhood pushing a bathtub and holding a lit lantern in broad daylight, don’t be alarmed, he’s just looking for Chuck Norris.

McCain was deemed a racist simply because he existed and was the GOP standardbearer. I am so sick and tired of RACE. Period. When are we going to get over it? For Real folks. As someone who was an African American studies minor in college, pledged the oldest and most prestigious black women's sorority, was once a loyal card carrying member of the NAACP ( I did not renew my membership after the 2000 election campaign ads that ran against then Gov. George Bush paid for by the NAACP), started a very successful national organization for professional women of color, and I could go and on I am sick of the tearing apart of one set of Americans by their own fellow countrymen.

She is wrong and she knows nothing about true racism-having never spent a day of her life being black in America. I do know something about racism as I and millions of other people of color have endured and experienced its ugly insidiousness. It is not a word that should be thrown around lightly or recklessly. If we dare not stand in defense of our fellow citizens right to protest peacefully against our/their government then we are giving into a sneaky form of Tyranny. Race has nothing to do with the hardworking, decent American citizens who simply got sick and tired of being overtaxed and outspent by their government and showed up to do something about it.
That is our solemn duties as Americans. This freedom is what makes us the envy of the world.
I am deeply disappointed in the current dialogue that seems to be developing on the current American horizon. what I find really enlightening is she is defending them from their own kind. I really don't think they need an african american defending white folks from other white folks. This was her first article posted on Huffington. Is this the reason why she was even published.
Hate, hypocrisy and yes, I said it, racism, is alive and kicking in the hallow halls of Arizona State University and Notre Dame. This is part one in a series of two articles that I will write in regard to these two universities that are all but too eager to accept “Jamal” and “Yolanda” as athletes, (it’s all about the Benjamins), but are reluctant in accepting a United States President named Barack Obama. My first piece is written in regard to the blatant disrespect shown by Arizona State University President Michael Crow towards United States President Barack Obama.
I believe that the Huffington Post was the first major news media to break the story that President Barack Obama who is scheduled to be the commencement speaker at ASU this year, would NOT be presented an honorary degree as is the custom for many of ASU’s past commencement speakers. ASU Media Relations Director Sharon Keeler says, unlike other universities, the processes for selecting commencement speakers and honorary degree recipients are independent. Keeler states that honorary degrees are given "for an achievement of eminence" and that President Obama was not considered for an honorary degree because his body of achievements, at this time, does not fit within that standard. Evidently Sharon Keeler, ASU President Michael Crow and company are all hypocritical morons who should (in order to save some face for the university) retire.
Further, I subscribe to the idea that as a way of flexing of our “economic muscle”, our children, relatives and friends should no longer attend Arizona State University as athletes which only lines the pockets of the school each and every time ASU appears in televised games and especially in post season tournaments. Perhaps the lost of money from not having “Jamal” and “Yolanda” playing for their sports programs will rekindle an interest in appreciating the various talents of young Black and Brown student athletes. (Not to mention my Caucasian brothers and sisters who are down with the cause)
OK, let’s list some of President Obama’s “achievements of eminence”. (1) President of the United States of America, (2) Leader of the “Free World”, (3) Professor of constitutional law, (4) Community Organizer, (5) State Senator, (6) First Black President of the Harvard Law Review, and oh…(7) The first Black President of the United States of America.
What was ASU President Crow thinking when he purposely and callously allowed the snubbing of President Obama by denying him an honorary degree from his university? There is a thin line between GOP ideology and racism and it appears that this charlatan of academia (ASU President Crow) was all but too happy to blur the lines in an attempt to justify his insidious beliefs. Let me make it perfectly clear that I do not believe for one moment, the entire staff of professors and administrators at Arizona State University to be bigots and ideologues of political obstruction. However, I do believe that ASU President Crow is a representative of “old guard” ASU alumni and state officials who do not respect our current President and his administration. Because the state of Arizona has an African American population of fewer than 5 percent as opposed to the national average of approximately 12.8 percent, state officials have very little interest in accepting and promoting racial diversity. This is evident in the state’s resistance of observing MLK day as a National Holiday and it’s recent barring of Arizona public schools from teaching it’s students any subject that may be interpreted as being counter to democracy and Western civilization. The mastermind behind this racist ideology is Arizona Representative Russell Pearce. The measure appeared as an amendment to Senate Bill 1108, which originally would have made minor changes to the state’s Homeland Security advisory councils. By the way, the House Appropriations Committee approved the new proposal on a 9-6 vote. Additionally, the measure would outlaw students of the state’s universities and community colleges from forming groups based in whole or part on the race of their members, such as the Black Business Students Association at Arizona State University.
It appears that state elected officials of Arizona haven’t caught up with the reality that the world has changed in its view of cultural and racial diversity, or perhaps ASU President Crow has acknowledged the change and likens himself to legendary Arizona sheriff Wyatt Earp and like Minnesota’s crazy ass (I had to say it) Representative, Michele Bachmann, is planning on rallying all hired guns for a shoot out at O.K. Corral.

Remember how Starr Jones spoke up and called out

Everybody applauded Starr for her visible stance against

The only way to deal with these fires is to put them out when they

House Republicans today made a big show about how they were going to drop their own brand-new alternate budget proposal, packed with urban-suburban hip-hop "flava" and dance moves Eric Cantor learned at the Verizon Center, watching Britney Spears. As it turns out, READY THEY WERE NOT, and so everyone is making fun of them, and it.
And look: I know that a lot has changed since that first, much-hyped-but-ultimately-detail-free attempt that Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner made at presenting his bank bailout plan. You know...Watchmen opened, and we've all filled out our NCAA brackets, and that guy from American Idol who desecrated the corpse of Johnny Cash got himself a haircut and wasn't half bad on the teevee last night. And yet, I still remember Geithner, rightly getting criticized for a presentation that did not live up to the advance word that President Barack Obama himself put out on the street. The administration, quite rightly, took their lumps for suggesting Geithner was going to deliver the goods when, in reality, he was far from ready for prime time. And the GOP, fairly, led that chorus of criticism.
But for all the criticism, the Geithner lesson didn't seem to be a teachable one. And, as far as MSNBC's Contessa Brewer was concerned, she wasn't having it:

Later, Norah O'Donnell asked Mike Pence to provide basic details, to no avail. Pence continued to talk about details as forthcoming. O'Donnell sort of thought that having continually criticized the administration for projecting a long-term deficit figure, that it was absurd that the GOP couldn't even offer their own projection for the sake of comparison. Pence suggested that the very fact that the GOP plan was getting criticized constituted "progress." Uhm...not really.
Later, O'Donnell discussed the matter further with Mark Whittaker:
O'DONNELL: I had Congressman Mike Pence on just a short time ago, and I said, "You criticized the deficit numbers of the President's [budget proposal], what would be the deficit under your budget proposal," and he said we haven't come up with the numbers yet. Is this a serious proposal?
WHITTAKER: Look, this is Kabuki theatre at this point, because in the House side, Nancy Pelosi doesn't need the Republicans to get the budget through. And in the Senate, I think there's more and more a sense in Washington, that they're headed toward a legislative tactic called budget reconciliation that would allow them to pass the bill in the Senate...without a filibuster...I think that the Republicans are positioning themselves for 2010.
Well, if not Kabuki Theatre, it has at least been happy hour at the Chuckle Hut, as various figures on the Democratic side have tried out their best material at the expense of this budget plan. The DNC's Hari Sevugan was looking like he'd have the zing of the day with this statement:
"After 27 days, the best House Republicans could come up with is a 19-page pamphlet that does not include a single real budget proposal or estimate. There are more numbers in my last sentence than there are in the entire House GOP budget."
But that was before Robert Gibbs offered: "There's one more picture of a windmill than there are charts of numbers. And there's exactly one picture of a windmill."
But that's not the worst of it: Politico's Glenn Thrush is reporting that critics of this "blueprint budget" include Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan, and that the whole proposal is part of a Mike Pence ego trip.
House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) objected to an abbreviated alternative budget "blueprint" released today -- but were told by House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) they needed to back the plan, according to several Republican sources.
[...]"In his egocentric rush to get on camera, Mike Pence threw the rest of the Conference under the bus, specifically Paul Ryan, whose staff has been working night and day for weeks to develop a substantive budget plan," said a GOP aide heavily involved in budget strategy.
"I hope his camera time was gratifying enough to justify erasing the weeks of hard work by dozens of Republicans to put forth serious ideas," the person added.

Now, normally, like the Mafia, I lay off the spouses, but inasmuch as this particular spouse attended the same racist church as her hubby for 20 years, I'll make an exception in her case. Controversial Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said this weekend that she wants residents of her state "armed and dangerous" over President Barack Obama's plan to reduce global warming "because we need to fight back."
Asked about the White House-backed cap-and-trade proposal to reduce carbon emissions, Bachmann told WWTC 1280 AM, "I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us 'having a revolution every now and then is a good thing,' and the people -- we the people -- are going to have to fight back hard if we're not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States."
Bachmann also told her constituents she was "a foreign correspondent on enemy lines," sending Minnesotans warnings through her blog, Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. "I try to let everyone back here in Minnesota know exactly the nefarious activities that are taking place in Washington."
The comments have been picked up by local blogs Smart Politics and Dump Bachmann.
Bachmann has encouraged resistance against President Obama before, saying that the Republican party needs "to do everything we can to thwart [the Democrats] at every turn to make sure that they aren't able to, for all time, secure a power base that for all time can never be defeated."

The German newspaper Die Tageszeitung has a reputation for leftist social sensitivity. All the more bizarre then was its choice of a cover to mark Obama's victory in the race for the Democratic Party nomination: a photo of the White House under the headline "Uncle Barack's Cabin."

The Berlin-based daily Die Tageszeitung is normally considered a bastion of political correctness. The paper, which was founded in 1978, has always seen itself as a left-leaning alternative to the mainstream press and is known for its outspoken positions on issues such as globalization, the environment and xenophobia in Germany.
Hence readers were all the more surprised to see on the cover of the Thursday edition of the "Taz" -- as the newspaper is commonly known -- a photograph of the White House under the headline "Uncle Barack's Cabin." "The White House in Washington: Will Barack Obama be the first black president to move in there?" read the picture caption.
The headline refers to Harriet Beecher Stowe's 1852 anti-slavery novel "Uncle Tom's Cabin," which has become controversial due to its perceived stereotyping of African-Americans. The novel led to the expression "Uncle Tom" being used to pejoratively refer to an African-American who is subservient to whites.
Gary Smith, executive director of the American Academy in Berlin, a private center which promotes trans-Atlantic relations, told SPIEGEL ONLINE Thursday that the cover left him "speechless." "'Uncle Tom' is a racial slur, and the Taz editors clearly sacrificed substance and principle for an unreflected laugh," he said. "A journalism that prides itself on treating stereotypes with irreverence needs to think harder about its own deployment of stereotypes and racial allusions. There are countless ways to address the issue of race in this year's election more intelligently."
'Intended To Be Satirical'
Editors at Taz defended their decision to run the headline on Thursday. "The headline is intended to be satirical," deputy editor-in-chief Reiner Metzger told SPIEGEL ONLINE. "'Uncle Tom's Cabin' is a book that all Germans know and which they associate with issues of racism. The headline is supposed to make people think about these stereotypes. It works on many levels."
He said that the issue of race surrounds Obama in the presidential election campaign. "The fact that he is African-American plays a constant role in the campaign, but no one talks about it explicitly. One can play with that fact."
Metzger said that the Taz is famous for not being politically correct and is well-known for its ironic and cheeky cover headlines. "I'm sure 99 percent of our readers would understand it correctly. As for the rest, well, tough luck. You can't please everybody."
But many were clearly displeased by the Taz's cover choice -- including representatives of Germany's black community, who reacted with indignation. "I find the Taz cover very problematic," said Yonis Ayeh, a board member at the Initiative of Black People in Germany (ISD). The ISD represents the interests of black Germans, who are estimated to number up to 500,000 within Germany's population of 82 million.
"The newspaper is comparing Obama with Uncle Tom, a subservient slave," Ayeh said. "I'm sure Obama doesn't see himself like that. It transmits an image of black people as submissive, uneducated people, which is simply not true."
'Acute Racism within Left-Wing Scene'
Ayeh was not surprised that an insensitive headline could come from a left-leaning newspaper. "There is also acute racism within the left-wing scene in Germany," he said. "They are no angels, and the Taz contributes to that when it commits such gaffes."
The Taz has even sparked diplomatic incidents with its irreverent approach. Its depiction in 2006 of the Kaczynski twins, who were then prime minister and president of Poland, as potatoes caused a tiff between Poland and Germany.
Although "Uncle Tom's Cabin" is well-known in Germany, ordinary Germans are not always aware of the controversy surrounding the book. Visitors to Berlin are often surprised to find there is even a subway station in the city called Onkel Toms Hütte, after a residential district which was named in tribute to the novel.

“Let them eat cake” Or is it day old bread?
In 1793 French President Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette were both beheaded before an angry crowd of disenchanted countrymen and countrywomen. Moments before the guillotine’s blade fell upon their necks; I picture the two disposed monarchs frozen in fear and soiled in disbelief. An untimely and inevitable death was upon them. As they gazed into each others eyes I can almost hear the question that they asked each other, “What was our crime?”
History has proven that the answer to their question was arrogance and indifference.
On February 11, 2009, Representative Maxine Waters (D) of California, asked a group of banking chairmen who were summoned to testify before Congress if their banks had raised the interest rates on most credit card holders and additionally, reduced the lending amounts that the credit card holder once had after their banks had received bail out money from the US Government. Every bank representative who sat before Congress acknowledged that this despicable act had been committed by their banks.
What would make banking CEOs raise interest rates and lessen lending amounts to credit card holders who have good credit?
History will prove that the answer to this question is arrogance and indifference.
During the month of February, it was discovered that several Morgan Stanley executives received over one hundred and twenty million dollars in bonuses. These executives had richly rewarded themselves even though the “ship” that they were responsible for steering, had run aground on a reef and had already sunk. In arrogance and indifference to public opinion, the executive’s boss, Mr. James Gorman, Co-President of Morgan Stanley, informed these bonus recipients not to call the bonuses they were about to receive, a bonus. They were instructed to call the bonuses “retention awards”. You say tomato, I say tomatoe.
Where do you think their bonus money came from and does this particular scenario sound eerily déjà vu?
The month is March and the time is today, most Americans are livid in response to having paid via higher taxes, what appears to be over 200 million dollars in bonuses to AIG executives. In contrast, most Americans cannot get a small loan from their local bank. The hypocrisy of rewarding millions of dollars to individuals who have failed is almost too much for most Americans to understand or digest, especially when most of us are trying to “Rob Peter in order to pay Paul”. Call me a cynic but I think that we’ve only just begun to scratch the surface of corporate greed and corruption. Without some sort of rules and regulations that governs big business, crooks like Bernie Madoff begets other Bernie Madoffs.
All of this craziness reminds me of a lyric written by Paul Simon in the 1960s, "Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio, our nation turns its lonely eyes to you?" First and foremost, I believe that America will prevail. It’s just that the millions of “have nots” who have bought into the idea of hard work, sacrifice and service to country are the very ones who are being crapped on the most. I truly believe that most hard working Americans yearn for the “just rewards” of their hard labor, which is food on the table, a roof over their family’s head, job stability, and the chance for their children to receive a great education. Unfortunately, it appears that we Americans are living in a perverted alter universe where cheating, greed, intolerance and corruption have taken root in our society and a large percentage of this “disease” lives on a street named “Wall Street’. In retrospect when thinking back to Paul Simon’s lyric of “Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio, our nation turns it lonely eyes to you?” my strong belief is that the lyric symbolizes hard working Americans in search of success and happiness which was once promised in dreams by both parent and politician. It is so sad that politics and the quest for money and power have blinded so many to the ill effects of greed and corruption. Personally, I am not a lockstep Democrat nor am I a lockstep Republican. I vote for officials who I believe have the interests of America first. At times I believe that the Democratic Party takes the African American vote for granted and I truly believe that the Republican Party as a whole is clueless to the needs of anyone that isn’t already materialistically wealthy.
Barack Obama was elected as the 44th President of the United States by a majority of Americans who want positive change in America. Positive change in America is one of the reasons why I voted for Barack Obama.
In America, there exists an evil (yes I said it) group of Americans who would rather see President Obama’s policies fail, rather than succeed, solely for the purpose of gaining political “high ground”. I sometimes shutter in disbelief and horror of their ferocious appetite for derailing any ideas put forth by our President. Oh, by the way…Mr. President, please watch your back, there are some Democrats in the Congress and Senate that are more motivated by personal gains then the gains of the American people.
In closing, I ask, am I crazy or does anyone else sees the similarities in behavior and attitude shared by past monarchs (destined to be beheaded) and the gentlemen and gentlewomen who run Wall Street and the Republican Party? I guess it is the good fortune of these people that they aren’t living in France in 1793 especially after suggesting “cake” to Americans who are so financially disenfranchised that they are having problems purchasing day old bread.
I think of myself in many dimensions. In one light I am a child of God, I’m also a servant of Jesus Christ, a husband, I am a brother, a family member and evidently, in political terms, I am a naïve American. I’m not so naïve in the meaning of being dumb enough to venture down a dark alley way (in the words of the late great comedian, Richard Pryor) upon hearing what I think is the voice of God in that alley, but naïve in understanding that there is a domestic war being waged by an insidious group of Americans whose sole mission and agenda is to obstruct and discredit President Barack Obama’s efforts to fix the mess left behind after eight years of Republican rule in America; all in the name of ideology. I have (or had) a friend who has the persona of being the friendly copying machine repair guy that most office people affectionately know by first name. In truth, my friend is a political assassin. He is just one of a large clan of Republicans that are currently attempting to sow in the minds of Americans, seeds of doubt, fear and apprehension about President Obama and the President’s administration. In lieu of woeful economic times, these assassins know that most Americans (and rightfully so) are fearful of what “tomorrow brings”. Massive deregulation of Wall Street practices, bad banking policies and tax cuts that mostly benefited the rich, have brought this country, as a whole, to the brink of economic disaster that has not been experienced since the “Great Depression”. What my friend the “super conservative” Republican and all his cronies have forgotten (or ignored) is that this “witches brew” of fiscal disaster was largely created by the Republican Party. Now that the leaderless Republicans have lost control of the White House, congress and the senate, a large number of ideological fanatics (I made up the word “ziot” to describe these people) are campaigning “by any means necessary” to obstruct our President’s proactive policies of fiscal and social change. Dispersing hate through negative emails and blogs, to include fabricating outright lies about the President are the ziots main tactic of bringing about helter skelter in this country. The sad fact is that President Obama has been the President of the United States for less than three months and these ziots are beside themselves as they see an articulate Black man leading this country during tumultuous times, times created by their own party’s greed and arrogance. So, beware of smiling copying machine repairmen / repairwomen, who artfully disguise their hatred of President Obama and Democrats by weaving tales of negativity and doubt about “this bill or that bill” as they congenially sip coffee and eat doughnuts in the company lounge. Let’s expose the hate of these naysayers by standing up and saying enough of this anti American rhetoric. Let the ziots know that the American people through the power of the vote, have spoken and their message is loud and clear, “Out” with the greedy and the arrogant, “In”, with leaders who are in tune with the needs of the average American who have been routinely ignored and disenfranchised. Let’s remind them that Americans have elected a new “sheriff” for a town named America and the sheriff’s name is Barack Obama. Besides, tell them that their breath smells like sour grapes.
