Let Go, Let God
I move forward in a life of freedom, health, and prosperity.
I wouldn't get far driving a car while the emergency brake was on. Neither would I reach my goals or dreams if I didn't release the brakes on them.
I choose to move forward with my goals and dreams, releasing any belief in poverty or powerlessness that might be adversely affecting my thoughts, words, and actions.
If my desire is to improve my health, I let go of any doubt that I can be completely healthy. Wholeness is my divine heritage.
Rather than straining for results, I let God transform my understanding so that I move forward in a life of freedom, health, and prosperity. As I release and make room for my highest good, I am able to fully appreciate and experience life.

"The true enemy is inside. The maker of trouble, the source of all our suffering, the destroyer of our joy, and the destroyer of our virtue is inside. It is Ego. I call it, 'I, the most precious one'. "
~Gehlek Rimpoche
Today's Affirmation
I have an ego, but I am not my ego.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
It is an interesting twist that both the source of unhappiness and the source of joy are within me.
I turn within and move past my ego, to You.
There are times that my ego sounds like a brass band, and Your voice is like a child's laughter.
This is particularly true for me, when I listen with my ears alone.
You speak to me in my feelings, through my heart.
As I open my heart to Your people, I am open to hear You.
From this open and vulnerable place,
I learn to listen and to follow Your guidance.
So it is.
Amen
You're Playing Us Too Close
Extreme right-wing talking heads have blood on their hands and I’m mad as hell. My anger is spilling out in the form of two questions that I’m not sure can be answered. My first question is, where were the Feds who should have been monitoring convicted felon James Von Brunn, the 88 year old white supremacist who went to the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C this past Wednesday and opened fire, killing Mr. Stephen Tyrone Johns, a security guard who gave his life to protect the lives of people who were visiting the museum? My second question is, where were the moderate right-wingers (including the killer’s wife) who personally knew this angry old man and could have warned local and federal authorities that a crazed extremist (who some moderate right-wingers probably placated as a “soldier” in their anti-Obama, anti-government campaign), was on the verge of killing innocent people?
Enough is enough. The Limbaughs, Hannitys, Bachmanns and thousands of others like them (including the house negroes Keyes and Steele) who fit the bill for spreading hate and fear on airwaves and cyber space should all be put on notice by the Feds that their anti-government rhetoric has crossed a line which will no longer be tolerated. I’m quite sure that somewhere on the “legal books” there has to be a federal law that prohibits the incitement of hate and violence. If there isn’t such a law, then let’s get one passed by congress. I am so personally sick of hearing about crazies who claim that they are angry because “White people are losing their rights” and that “White people are an endangered species in America”. For White folk who have this irrational phobia - and I’m only addressing those White folk with this phobia, “Get the freak over it”. This ain’t the land of Ozzie and Harriet anymore. Wally Cleaver was a weak athlete, Kato is no longer the Green Hornet’s driver and Black, and Brown Americans no longer sit at the back of the bus unless we want to!
For the crazies who think that they have it bad, a little “food for thought”, - If the national unemployment rate in America (which is supposedly one of the factors that has driven “Angry White Americans” over the edge), is close to 10%, then what is the unemployment rate for Black and Brown Americans?
I’m not one to advocate violence but I think that there are far more Marcus Garvey’s and Malcolm X’s in the United States today in 2009 than there are Dr. King’s and Mahatma Ghandi’s. I apologize if I sound disrespectful to the memory of Dr. King; I mean no disrespect to the great MLK or his legacy, however, just like the fictional character “Virgil Tibbs” from the 1967 movie “In the heat of the night”, if “an adversary” has the nerve to slap my face, then that adversary should expect a stronger backhand to immediately come across their face. Case closed. But before I go off the deep end, let me state that I know that the crazies want violent confrontation. I know this. Why do you think that they’re always crying about the right to bear arms? Folks, we Americans and I mean all Americans need to sit up and take notice. The crazies are desperate and they feel cornered. They are beside themselves that America has evolved and they are livid because opportunities that were once reserved solely for White folk are rapidly disappearing.
The best way to defeat these “rats” who feel that their backs are up against the wall, is to demand that local and federal law agencies do everything that they can to stamp out hate groups. Flood your local and national newspaper editors with phone calls and emails that express your concern with right-wing nuts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin (poor Michelle, she’s an Asian who has obviously played with too many blonde Barbie dolls). Americans, Stop buying the merchandise that is sold by sponsors who pay the salaries of these nuts. Organize. Make some noise and stand up and be heard. My Lord, these fools honestly think that it’s 1939 and we’re living in “Old Dixie”.
In closing, I’d like to leave you with the words from a song written by Stevie Wonder for the reggae band “Third World” entitled, “You're playing us too close” which I’m dedicating to all those angry White folk who think that through gutless acts of terrorism, that they will be able to intimidate Black, Brown and Jewish Americans. – “Jobless people starving babies spreading over the land. More oppression to the have nots is how you play your hand. More world fighting is the writing from those say they know, and if that's true we know just who you'll be picking to go, but the beat you are playing to what Jah is saying is wrong, and we do recommend that you stop before it's too far gone. And I just got to say you're playing us too close”.
Crazies, you’ve been warned!
Well no wonder he doesn’t like taxes very much. According to documents obtained by Teablogging by running a goddamned simple Nexis search on the internets, national Tea Party organizer, Top Conservatives on Twitter cofounder and TCOTReport.com publisher Michael P. Leahy has, over the past 16 years, amassed nearly $150,000 in state and federal tax liens, small claims court judgments and civil suits.
It’s an open secret among teabaggers and elsewhere that Leahy is a delusional, profiteering creep and, potentially, a member of some alien race of Lizard People here to feed on the human race, for freedom. You might have heard of Leahy during the Great TCOT Civil War hilarious catfight of 2009, when he basically threw a bitch fit on the internet because TCOT cofounder and reasonable adult Rob Neppell wouldn’t let him be the supreme boss of everything which was, like, TOTALLY UNFAIR. You will find that this is something of a recurring theme with Leahy.
So anyway, megalomaniac? Check. Self-defeating hack? Check. Lizard Person? Definitely check. And now, yes, apparently massive tax fraud? Check and check.
Seriously, does Leahy have naked pictures of other teaparty leaders that they continue to associate with this no-talent fartsack? Actually, no, please don’t answer that.
Whatever. If this slapstick band of unintentionally hilarious fuckups wants to join Leahy in committing collective suicide in front of everybody, live, on the internet, they can go right on ahead. I just wouldn’t lend him any money.
Take a look at our source docs here (pdf)
*In an uncharacteristic act of actual journalism, Teablogging.net contacted Mr. Leahy prior to the publication of this post. He thanked us for the heads up (and chided us for using dirty words) but didn’t offer any further comment. Boo-yah.

Regular working class and rural, suburban White Americans must feel a bit under assault as of late.
How so you ask? Well, it started in the 2008 primary campaign with off handed comments being made by then candidate Barack Obama about "bitter Americans clinging to their guns and religion", then Senator Clinton started talking about "hardworking white Americans" in Pennsylvania as she desperately needed to carry that state.
Everything was about race in the 2008 Campaign. Former President Bill Clinton was deemed a racist red neck jack asem>s who didn't know when to shut up according to the media, political pundits and many black politicians for his comments during the South Carolina primaries. McCain was deemed a racist simply because he existed and was the GOP standardbearer. Once he picked working class, university of Idaho educated, mother of five Alaska Governor Sara Palin all hell truly broke loose.
I am so sick and tired of RACE. Period. When are we going to get over it? For Real folks. As someone who was an African American studies minor in college, pledged the oldest and most prestigious black women's sorority, was once a loyal card carrying member of the NAACP ( I did not renew my membership after the 2000 election campaign ads that ran against then Gov. George Bush paid for by the NAACP), started a very successful national organization for professional women of color, and I could go and on I am sick of the tearing apart of one set of Americans by their own fellow countrymen.
Yes, I am defending my mostly white (some Tea Party goers were black, Hispanic, etc.) Tea Party attending brethren because enough is enough. On last Thursday's "Countdown," MSNBC's Keith Olbermann and his guest Janeane Garofalo defamed fellow citizens who attended the prior day's Tea Parties with vitriolic contempt. Ms. Garofalo actually called Party-goers "a bunch of teabagging rednecks," adding "this is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up."
She is wrong and she knows nothing about true racism-having never spent a day of her life being black in America. I do know something about racism as I and millions of other people of color have endured and experienced its ugly insidiousness. It is not a word that should be thrown around lightly or recklessly. If we dare not stand in defense of our fellow citizens right to protest peacefully against our/their government then we are giving into a sneaky form of Tyranny. Race has nothing to do with the hardworking, decent American citizens who simply got sick and tired of being overtaxed and outspent by their government and showed up to do something about it.
That is our solemn duties as Americans. This freedom is what makes us the envy of the world.
I am deeply disappointed in the current dialogue that seems to be developing on the current American horizon. If we don't stop yelling at each other, hurling insults and names, and band together as a nation once again, then those who seek the undoing of their fellow citizens of a different opinion, thought or political stripe had better grasp firmly the old saying "what you gonna do when they come for you?"

what I find really enlightening is she is defending them from their own kind. I really don't think they need an african american defending white folks from other white folks. This was her first article posted on Huffington. Is this the reason why she was even published.
All of the recent news about the bonuses at the bailed out companies have now led me to believe that this is a conspiracy to make sure that our president fails. It appears that the republicans knew what was coming. How often do all republicans in the house and senate vote unanimously to vote no.
This is not just a conspiracy against our President but also against the American People who voted for him. They are saying to us "How dare you put this man in office!" So now, we all must pay and it seems that we are.
America, wake up! Don't just listen to the news. You must filter the news. Obama didn't say take the money and do with it as you will. Remember, he is not a man who believes in the trickle down (republican) theory of economics.
America, we must start to band together to help our president to succeed. We must stand up against these companies. We as Americans can stand up and create our own companies and do things the right way.
Be outraged! Don't loose focus on the prize America. We are up against the riches 1%. Big business who have been ripping us off for a decades. If you don't believe it, look at your credit card interest and how it is compounded. Look at your mortgages. Look at all the extra services in your daily bills!
AMERICA, WE MUST STAND UP!
Tom, I totally disagree with the people that say give Chris a break because he is young, or this is what he saw growing up and he is doomed to repeat this behavior. I don’t know about anybody else but one picture is all I need to see to know that he went too far! I love my African-American brothers, but they must be held accountable for their actions. We can stand by them and pray for them, but also let them know that this behavior is not tolerable. If more people would give this kind of tough love then maybe we would not’t see so many of our brothers behind bars. I am so tired of us making excuses for each other and say it’s “them”, “the man” or whomever that is trying to make us look bad. If he had kept his hands to himself, there would be no picture to leak to the media. You should band him for a while, and I don’t think you should band Rhianna’s music because she is the victim. I like him and it is difficult for me to say this, but I believe that it will benefit him to have some real consequence for whatever time you decide…he should not have to satisfy some requirements such as therapy though before you play his music again. Hopefully, he’ll get therapy because he needs it. I was in an abusive relationship in my early twenties (late teens) and it didn’t last. It began with small things that I allowed and slowly progressed over the years. I didn’t think much of it at first because I used to fight back to the point that this person would leave me alone for a while. The final straw is when he jumped on me and choked me until I was nearly unconscious. The only thing that kept me from getting this person back while he slept was the fact that we had a child who would possibly grow up without a mother and father. He thought I was going to stay with him and completely changed in that he became more violent acting. He never put his hands on me again, but he would threaten me and he wouldn’t let me just leave him…I knew I would have to take my child in the middle of the night. I waited a few months planning my escape, but I got out and have never been in an abusive relationship since. It has been about ten years and this person and I get along well as co-parents. I’m pretty sure he has changed but I will never know on an intament level. I do have a rule that works for me in that I don’t look back…once I break up with a man there is no getting back together. My prayers go out to Chris and Rhianna and I hope they find their way to a healing place. God Bless!
CASH RULES EVERYTHING
A fist full of dollars is becoming harder to retain these days. The big economic meltdown has our nations leaders scrambling for answers on how to turn the economy around. Meanwhile the almighty dollar is loosing its strength. Former President Bill Clinton had the economy booming with the tsunami of new bills put into print during his term in office. Than we had the greedy self centered Bush and Cheney hustlers in office who made it all possible for the rich to suck up as much wealth as they could during their eight years of lies.
With that said we now have a new era to encounter and a completely new face to implement change. Can Obama save this wretched world from its capitalistic meltdown? Some people are still naive to the fact that there exist a global break down on the nations abroad. Our monetary system is not the only one suffering in this day and age.
The big bailout plan and stimulus packages offer mere band aids to the problems we now encounter. For what goes up must come down. The economy boomed the leeches, and money misers came out the wood works and confiscated all they could. An new age hustler that is not so new was discovered. Yes, this hustler really is not new at all corporate thugs have always been in existence. The Ken Leys of Enron, the Bernard Madoffs of Wall Street have been making off with ill gotten fortunes for years. Now we have the political hustlers being brought under scrutiny for their deceitful means of chasing the dirty dollars. Politicians like William Jefferson (La. Democrat ) being caught with 90k dollars cash in a freezer in his house. Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich trying to sell the house seat for the dollar bill. It is becoming more apparent that people are putting the dollar first and foremost in their lives. Someone must be held accountable for their greed. When people take on these positions as governing officials there exist a moral obligation to be responsible for. Corruption and the love of money which we know is the root of all evil has become widespread. The cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches is drawing political officials to bare bad fruit in their positions. When there is no sense of hope there is only despair. When there is no righteousness there is room for ungodliness to take precedence over ones countenance. Money, power, respect and the thought of these can drive anybody out of control. For to be friends of this world is to be enemies with God.
Do not misunderstand the teachings of biblical doctrine. Jesus told the naysayer’s whose face is on the denarius and they answered Ceasers, He simply replied render to Ceaser what is do. Basic principles of righteousness from than still should be applied today.Even in these trying times we should remain calm and trusting in God. For if He feeds and clothes the birds of the air surely He can take care of us whom He has given dominion over the birds and all creatures. Jesus knew in order for us to pay taxes to our governing officials we would first have to make some money. So there’s nothing wrong with making an honest dollar at all. Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all other things will be added unto you is a concept we should all inspire to practice. All those who may beg to differ I can only say into this world we brought nothing and I am certain that we will leave in that same fashion

Faith
My focus is on faith, and my way is clear.
Watching a parade, I hear the upbeat cadence of the next marching band in the distance. I wait and watch. Then the school banner, held high, appears. This standard introduces the band members, who are confidently following behind.
Just as students choose a leader they can trust to carry the flag high, I choose my faith in God to lead me through any situation. Faith leads me through all circumstances and is with me at journey's end.
I trust that with God I can do all things. My faith goes before me, and I follow, assured that I am on my right path, certain that my route is safe, and secure that all needs are met. I move forward with my focus on faith, and my way is clear.
"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to set out for a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; and he set out, not knowing where he was going."--Hebrews 11:8

"New Year's eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights."

Today's Affirmation
I make time to reflect on my recent path and progress.
Today's Meditation
Dear God,
As this years draws to a close, we reflect on the many
events of our lives and in our world.
For the many blessings we have enjoyed,
we give You our thanks and praise.
If we walked though challenges,
we give Thanks that You were with us through every experience.
For many of us, this is a time to evaluate the path we have been on
and make any adjustments that might be necessary.
Help us make mindful, spiritual resolutions.
We bless and release 2008 as we know that the best is yet to be.
Thank You.
Amen
Obama aint Jesus Christ
By
Thomas N. Taylor
From the African’s first forced landing upon these distant colonial shores in 1619 to election night 2008; the convergence of “Black history and American History was inevitable. The election of Barack Hussein Obama as the 44th President of the United States marks a seminal moment in our nation’s narrative.
The gritty journey of the African American from the struggles of slavery to his triumphant ascendancy to this countries highest office, is the story of a people personified as Barack Obama. His success is but representative epilogue for all who came before him and we who now stand with him. And yet there are those who would deny him and us this victory. The anointed intellectuals among us and so call leaders are having a hard time with this scenario.
I watched the “esteemed” Cornel West recently on Tavis Smiley’s program straddling the unstoppable Obama band wagon as he proclaimed how he’s out there campaigning and “pulling for the brother to win on November 4th” (as if he had another choice) He immediately offered the caveat that “bright and early on November 5th, should the brother prevail,” he would be in his face “holding him accountable” and otherwise placing demands on the President Elect.
West boasted about how he told the immensely popular candidate Obama, “you’re not Jesus Christ you know” as though Barack had a crisis of identity or just needed to hear that. I wonder if Brother West thinks that if Christ did choose to come back in the form of his choosing, that he’s somehow obligated inform him (West) first? Did Cornel West take the time to inform George W. Bush that he wasn’t God or Hillary that she wasn’t the Queen Mother? Did he pull his boy, Bill Clinton’s coat and break the news to him that he wasn’t really the first Black President. If not then why did he think he just had to rain on the brother’s parade on his way to greatness?
Over the past few months West, Tavis Smiley, Jessie Jackson and others got a kick out of talking about all this brother “aint” and what he aint doing or saying. I submit that Barack Obama aint a lot of things. He aint doing and saying even a lot more; which leaves plenty for somebody else to do. (Any volunteers from the hater’s committee? I didn’t think so.)
Whatever this brother aint, what he is, is pretty remarkable as is what he’s already done. Right now we should celebrate that and not be in such a big rush to tear him down and place more pressure on him than he already has. Let’s wait and see.
President elect Obama professes to be a Christian which is suppose to mean that he strives to be Christ like. If he chooses to think that he’s enough like Christ to stand in for him; God help the brother if it’s working for him. ( and it seems to be working) We should encourage him and let Christ take care of the issue of Identity theft if that is indeed the case.
As a people, there are plenty of others who will challenge us and Obama and tell us who we are and who we “aint”. We don’t need each other to punch holes in our sails as we struggle to get off the ground. We should allow ourselves whatever audacity and boldness necessary to overcome.
All I have to say is; “whoever” the hell this brother, Barack Obama, thought he was, to stand his unknown Black a*# up and not just say but “Believe” against all odds- he could be the President of the United States of America/ the most powerful man on Earth, and go do it; then I say more power to him.
Maybe we all should all take up Christ’s cross, put a big smile on our face and go out and do great historic things. But know this, there will be those among you who will both betray and deny you for the price of a published book deal or TV show. (aka: a few pieces of silver)Thus is the lot of Christ.

my name is gerald cross I have been following the tom Joyner show from it's beginning. I lived in Mobile, al for more than twenty years. The first time i saw Tom was at his brother restaurant on wilson ave. around 1982.
I graduate from the Unversity of South Alabama, but not before attending Jackson State University where I played in the boom as well as at least one member of my family dating back to 1965 to the present with my sister's two daughters Tori and Mea who are J settes My father and mother both graduate from Jackson State. Beteen the two of my parents they were responsible for helping get more than 150 students in one of the three major Black schools in the state of Ms. When I look around the State now and see some of these students I am reminded of the work of the teachers who were dedicated to seeing the day that we are all witnessing and blessed with. It is because of these people that each one of us have to some degree achieved the success that we have the people like coach Cooley, coach Jones, Band teachers luike my father and music teachers like my Elijah and mother Paralee Cross. This is the day the Mrs. Obama was speaking of for the "first time in my adult life I am proud of my country". If you are not black you may not understand this is our reality man I felt great this morning when I voted because there was hope for my country and my people. It is because of the people who came before us that I can live in a gated community in Mississippi where my skin color want keep me out if I have the means and no-one burning a cross on my lawn. Thank you my people.
