The City of Haven
Some years ago, a lone traveler paid a visit to a tavern in Denerim, and after imbibing a great quantity of ale related a tale of his travels to the tavern-keeper. The traveler claimed to have stumbled upon a strange village high in the Frostback Mountains. The village was peaceful, he said, and the villagers polite, if a little aloof. They fed him and watered his horse, and then urged him to be on his way. When he lingered too long, suddenly their mood changed. Their faces grew cold and knives appeared, and the traveler was told that what was to happen next “was done in Andraste’s name and for the good of all.” He fled in a panic and could not afterwards retrace his path. The traveler took a room at the tavern and yet never slept there. He disappeared that night and was not heard from again.
Issue 15: Anniversary allows City of Heroes to come to life with more in-depth gameplay experiences and storytelling options as it marks the revival of The 5th Column, the most popular villain group, through 10 new action-packed missions. Players will participate in a Hero Task Force or a Villain Strike Force, in order to uncover the mystery behind this long dormant foe. Along with the new missions, players can now customize their characters with more than 20 extra character faces, Vines and Ulterior themed costume sets and several new costume change emotes - visual animations that come to life when characters transition between costumes within the game.
Additionally, Issue 15: Anniversary introduces players to new mission creation enhancements, testing tools and navigation services as part of the recently launched Mission Architect system. These features allow players to more easily create and polish their own unique custom content before sharing it with the public, and help streamline the process of searching through user-generated missions. Since the release of City of Heroes’ Mission Architect system, two months ago, users have developed and published more than 200,000 stories for the community to enjoy.
For Issue 15, there are two new costume sets available to everyone, created by the newest addition to our character artist team, Cheryl Austin. “Vines” is a new pattern while “Ulterior” is a new texture set, both of which work with most of the existing costume pieces. Cheryl has also created over twenty new face textures, something we haven’t done since City of Villains launched. While our options for individual costume pieces and sets have continued to expand over the years, our selection of faces hasn’t received the same amount of attention. Her goal was to create a set of new face textures that were a bit more subtle and realistic and while also working well across our full range skin tones.
There are also a number of new costume change emotes in this update. As many of our players will remember, costume change emotes were something we introduced in the Magic Super Booster Pack. One of our goals with the Booster Packs has been to leverage them into adding things to City of Heroes that we otherwise wouldn’t be able to include in a regular update. For the Magic Super Booster Pack, we were able to push for the programming support to do something that we’ve wanted to do for a long time: costume change emotes. Now that the technology is in place, Issue 15 is our first opportunity to provide a number of more universally themed costume change emotes as part of a regular content update for all of our players. It’s our goal that everyone, even those who didn’t purchase the Magic Super Booster Pack, will benefit from the extra time and resources that we’ve devoted to creating these booster packs.
While all of these added customization options are part of the immediate content going into Issue 15, it’s really only a sampling of a much larger picture – as hinted by the recent announcement of the Going Rogue expansion. Our players can expect to hear some very exciting news about the new, much larger systems we’ve been working on to support and expand the customization aspect of City of Heroes within the next few months.
City of Heroes has hit the five year mark and is announcing the next installment that is now in development. With the upcoming Issue 15: Anniversary, Paragon Studios brings fans a host of new features and content that include more options and more usability for the Mission Architect game system. From new mission options for both Villains and Heroes, to new costumes and faces, Issue 15: Anniversary further builds on the innovation and customization of the Mission Architect tool.

Zeno Clash is a story driven game that uniquely blends the first person genre with the fighting game genre. Players will play the role of Ghat, the son of an impressive hermaphrodite creature called Father-Mother, whose children form the most powerful clan in the city of Halstedom. Ghat must escape from his family and start an incredible journey with his female companion Deadra, who will aid him in the dangerous lands of Zenozoik.
Some people live in the woods and have joined "The Corwid of the free"
because they don't care for the semi-civilized life in the city. In Halstedom there is no state or laws. As Corwids they are also free from common sense or reason. Insanity is the ultimate form of freedom for them. In the woods they will develop their obsessions and manias no matter how impractical or absurd these may be.
Father-Mother has given birth to dozens of the creatures in Halstedom.
She is their loving, careful mother, and he is their strong, rule enforcing father. Father-Mother always insists on keeping all the children close because having a big family to count on is a good thing in the dangerous and lawless land of Zenozoik, Many of Father-Mother's children are very skilled. Rimat is a natural leader. Xetse is a fearsome bodyguard. Therium is the cook and Henae is the combat trainer. They are all fiercely loyal to the head of the greatest family there is.
Ghat was always stubborn and rebellious but he was still one of Father-Mother's older and favorite sons. Recent events have brought Ghat far apart from Father-Mother and the rest of his family. It seems that Deadra is now the only person in the world who still trusts him.
Deadra never runs out of hope for the future which also makes her a strong-willed person who never quits. Together they could reach the end of the world.
The new gameplay video that has been released displays some of the melee attacks that players will be capable of performing to overcome their adversaries. A variety of punches, grabs and kicks are displayed as Ghat punishes his adversaries by throwing them to pits or knocking them into the air with a powerful comeback punch. The video also features combat with very different weapons for different situations.
The clubs are necessary to bring down heavy foes that won't be stopped by anything in their path. The musket can be used to blow up explosive rodents that parachute from a giant creature's head. In Zeno Clash players will encounter all sorts of dangers and keeping a grasp on these weapons is key to survive.
