  • Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Mu

    • From: Jenny
    • Description:

While we were in Bournemouth we went to the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum. Housed in one of the last Victorian villas in Bournemouth, East Cliff Hall, it was originally designed and lived in by Sir Merton and Lady Rusell-Cotes.

Free to enter, the style is lavish, flamboyant and full of stunning paintings. Best known are Venus Verticordia by Dante Gabriel Rosetti, and also Midsummer by Albert Moore.

I would highly recommend a visit to the museum if you're in Bournemouth.

  • My holiday to Bournemouth

    • From: Jenny
    • Description:

We went for a long weekend to the Wessex Hotel in Bournemouth. I love the British seaside as you can just load your car up with luggage and you're there in no time at all. As soon as you arrive and hear the friendly call of the seagulls - you know you can relax and have a good time.

The hotel was just across the road from the sandy beach where we spent lots of time relaxing, digging holes and paddling in the sea. And our hotel had an indoor and outdoor pool - which was perfect as I love swimming.

The Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum - within walking distance of the hotel was an unexpected treat. This Victorian villa was lavishly decorated by original owners Merton and Annie Russell-Cotes and had some beautiful paintings - including a Rossetti.

There's plenty to do in and around Bournemouth. But I just really enjoyed seeing the sea and the lovely coastal walks.

Hopefully we'll go back to Bournemouth again soon!

If anyone has been on holiday recently we'd love to hear about it and see your photos. Cool

  • Waddesdon Manor

    • From: Jenny
    • Description:

We went to Waddesdon Manor near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. It was built in 1874 by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to display his art treasures and entertain the fashionable world. It includes wonderful paintings from well known artists such as Gainsborough, Reynolds and de Hooch, beautiful antiques and magnificent gardens. We had a really enjoyable day out.

  • One for Kathy

    • From: Jenny
    • Description:

This is my garden table. It originally was nasty, faded and not very nice to sit at. So for fun, me and my son Daniel painted it in green and silver acrylic paint. Then we bought some small silver mosaic discs and stuck them on.

We had great fun decorating it together. And now I have a garden table which I can enjoy using. Especially when I remember how much we enjoyed painting it.

I know it's not a work of art, but I promised Kathy I'd let her see it!

  • Just for fun - what is your fa

    • Description:

I like milk chocolate finger biscuits and jaffa cakes because they remind me of when I first started school at the age of five.

We were allowed to bring in money to buy mini packs of either chocolate fingers or jaffa cakes to drink with our milk (that was before the days when Margaret Thatcher got rid of school milk).

The milk was lovely and cold and I usually chose the chocolate fingers, sometimes the jaffa cakes to go with my drink - and it was a welcome break to the morning. Some
