- We are a neighborhood school in west-central Springfield where students, parents and teachers know one another by name. With an enrollment of 347 our school makes students feel safe and supported.
- McGregor has a diverse student population. McGregor has students from around the world representing more than 20 different languages. The school leads the district in offering programs in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
- Originally built in the early 1900s, McGregor was rebuilt with support of a district bond initiative approved by voters in 2000. The new school opened in 2003. Staff, parents, community members and students are proud of our facility.
- McGregor is a Title I school that offers many resources for students. We house one of the district's Wonder Years classrooms, a preschool program for 4 year olds. We have a full-time literacy coach, math coach, and three reading specialists who work with students.
- We offer eMINTS in one fourth- and one fifth-grade classroom; eMINTS incorporates technology into instruction. Students pair up on computers for their daily work. Teachers use computers, digital projectors, document cameras and SMART Boards for instruction.
- McGregor partners with the Boys & Girls Club and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board to offer after-school programs for students.
- McGregor implements a positive schoolwide behavioral program called HABIT, which stands for Homework, Attitude, Behavior, Initiative and Traveling. Students are rewarded in each area based on their actions. Students work toward HABIT rewards and strive to do their best.

- McBride is a neighborhood school with an enrollment of about 598.
- McBride is a Continuous Classroom Improvement school. Our goal is to increase learning through high expectations, active participation and student input. Teachers and students focus on weekly learning goals using an improvement cycle called PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act). In PDSA, teachers and students discuss how classroom activities are helping students learn.
- McBride has an experienced staff. All teachers are considered highly qualified by the state, and 63 percent of teachers have completed advanced degrees.
- Six years in a row (2003-2008) McBride met Adequate Yearly Progress on the Missouri Assessment Program test.
- McBride's average attendance for 2008-2009 was 96.05 percent, exceeding the district goal of 95 percent.
- McBride has an active PTA that volunteers support for the classroom, organizes family events, and raises funds for school improvements.

- James A. Jeffries Elementary School was named after the late James A. Jeffries. He was a banker and civic leader in the community and a member of the school board from 1945 to 1960.
- First opened in 1980, Jeffries has a unique architectural design. The building consists of several classroom pods connected to a central facility by wide hallways. Jeffries is air-conditioned.
- With an enrollment of about 500, Jeffries has an average class size of 24 students and offers an average of four sections per grade level.
- Average daily attendance of 95.55 percent for 2008-2009 exceeds the district goal of 95 percent.
- In addition to academics, Jeffries offers ample student opportunities including YMCA Prime Time before- and after-school child care, Step Up Club, mad science, honor choir, student council, character education, fifth-grade orchestra and spelling bee.

Description:David Harrison Elementary School, Springfield Public Schools’ brand new elementary school, opened its doors to more than 300 excited students in August 2009. The school was named after Springfield author David L.Harrison, who also served as school board president. He has written over 70 children’s books and has been a strong advocate for Springfield Public Schools’ libraries.
Our school offers TRACKS (Technology Rich Atmosphere Concentrating on Kids’ Success) in response to the school community’s desire for technology-enriched instruction. All 20 classrooms, plus computer lab, library, art and music rooms, will be equipped with Smart Boards and an abundance of student computers. Similar to the eMINTS program, classrooms in grades 3 and 4 will have one computer for every two students. In kindergarten through grade 2, classrooms will have one computer for every four students.
David Harrison Elementary has a diverse student population. Approximately 40 students are in the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)program, which is also housed at the school.
Junior Kindergarten, a tuition-based pre-K program for 4 year olds, is housed at the school. A certified teacher, along with an aide, teaches the class. Curriculum content includes discovery play which emphasizes reading, writing, science, math, social skills, music, and creative arts. Space is limited to 16 children.
David Harrison Elementary offers before- and after-school care through the SPARC program. SPARC offers after-school extracurricular activities such as martial arts, chess club, floor hockey, scrapbooking, cooking club, cheerleading, tennis, golf, basketball, baseball, soccer, mad science, and more.
All members of David Harrison Elementary are fully certified educators. We implement Continuous Classroom Improvement (CCI) in every class to increase student engagement and achievement. Through CCI teachers and students determine the class mission and weekly goals; work together to create and carry out a plan to achieve the goals based on what is effective for students; study data by discussing and charting student results; and decide how students should act upon the data to improve achievement. - 5 months ago

- We are a neighborhood school located in southwest Springfield. Wilson’s Creek is a fifth- and sixth-grade feeder school for fourth-grade students from McBride and Wanda Gray elementary schools and fifth-grade students from Disney Elementary School. Our sixth-graders go on to Cherokee Middle School for seventh and eighth grade.
- Community involvement by our PTA, parents, and various community members is evident throughout our school. Our Partners in Education, Sunshine Rotary and Bancorp South, work directly with our character education program.
