Network Marketing and MLM (Multi Level Marketing)
MLM is similar to network marketing in that anyone you sponsor/sign-up to an opportunity becomes your 1st level member. Anyone your 1st level member sponsors becomes your 2nd level member, anyone your 2nd level member sponsors becomes your 3rd level member. And so on...
The difference between the two is that with MLM you only earn from enrolling new distributors/affiliates, with Network Marketing you can earn an income just from selling the products and earn from a combination of your sales and your down lines.
There are many myths about this business model, but like most businesses, if you don't follow your business and/or marketing plans, they fail. This often leads to criticism of the business model rather than looking at what went wrong. Many peoples' first business venture isn't as successful as they hope, why would this be any different in network marketing - but many people also try again and go on to be successful in business!
There are many ways to make money on the internet, so take the time to look around if you are interested. Don't jump head first into a company that will leave you to do all the work.
Look for companies that sell people and not product. There are many network marketers out there and most of them got where they are at by helping others.
All top network marketing companies are in growth industries and they've been around for at least 5 years. Especially today, top MLM companies need an expanding market for their products or they're doomed.
Product sales should put money into your pocket right away. Steer clear of companies with products you can't retail for a good profit or that require large auto ships. Even if you don't intend to become a product salesman this will legitimize you and your business in the eyes of many skeptical prospects.
If the person introducing you to network marketing is selling you the idea that it is a "get-rich-quick scheme", or "easy money", then they are misrepresenting network marketing.
Real marketing strategies are the only thing that can guarantee your success in network marketing. Each day more and more folks in the network marketing industry are coming to this conclusion.
Being in a top network marketing company doesn't guarantee success. Your marketing plan does.

How much does it cost to start my own business? |

I get this question all the time; there is no set amount it is going to cost. Every company or opportunity as many are called, has their own starter price. Remember the old add age; if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. If someone offers you a business opportunity for a dollar, run the other way. For the most part start up packages range from $100-$400. Remember this is not the only expense you will have for start up, you will also need a website, business cards, advertising expenses. If you are selling a product you should have some product on hand, we are in a society that wants everything immediately. If you don't have what they want NOW, they make look elsewhere. You are starting a business and you need to treat it like a business. |

Can I really do this business without selling anything? |

NO! If you are getting in the MLM business, and especially the cosmetic industry, you are doing sales. You’re up lines telling you that this is just sharing, is bunk. This is sales and there is no way around that. It does not have to be door to door type sales though. There is a lot of information that I share with you here, that will show you a better way to make sales, by having people look for you, not the other way around. Let them knock on your door and ask you about your product or your opportunity, then the selling becomes fun! |

How long does it take before I start making money? |

Tough question, everyone is different. Everyone is willing to put in different amounts of time to make their business grow. Some only want to work on the weekends and make some extra cash, some want to quit their job and make this a new career. How much you make and when you start to make a profit all depends on how much time you are willing to put into your business. The more time you spend on it, the sooner you will see the benefits of the time you are putting into you business. I do tell people, if you do not have at least 10 hours a week to put into this business, you really are going to have a hard time making a go of this as a business. You need to set aside dedicated time, to build this as a business. |

Do I Really Need To Go To The Thursday Night Meetings? |

This is the hardest question I get. I believe totally in surrounding yourself with people that support you and build you up. What I don't believe in, is the whole "Do it for the team" mentality. They are not helping you build your business, they are helping themselves build their business. Let's face it, your up line wants you to succeed because then they succeed. Now, having said that, it is like most other businesses, your sales manager at work wants you to get more sales and do better, because if you do better, they get a better raise and more recognition. It is a double edge sword. You are the owner of your own business, I say you treat it like your own business and stop worrying about "The Team." You can disagree with this statement, it is your business, you can do it anyway you want too, if you like the RA-RA thing then by all means have fun with it. |

That's the term used by real estate professionals anyway. I call it a database of people who, over time, get to know you, like you, and trust you through your correspondence and conversation with them.
