The project is carried out on three levels: in relation to the place, responding to the program and developing the perception of the space. The levels mix and converse and the project emerges from where they cross.
1. In its relationship with the place where it is introduced, the design is outlined following premises such as minimal impact on the surrounding nature and therefore intervening in a semi-natural environment with criteria of passive sustainability (the attitude which we believe is the most efficient and active with regard to the surroundings), with a cultural program and using materials whose ageing process allows the building to converse with the changes in tone, colour and light of the surroundings.

[ecosistema urbano] is working on an installation project for the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark. Since we believe that many of the world’s most difficult environmental challenges can be addressed and solved by cities… the project what if…?cities will be a collection of ideas from people with different backgrounds from all over the world presenting their own visions for an alternative future urbanity. “We are convinced that the city or town is both the largest unit capable of initially addressing the many urban architectural, social, economic, political, natural resource and environmental imbalances damaging our modern world and the smallest scale at which problems can be meaningfully resolved in an integrated, holistic and sustainable fashion.” (Aalborg Charter, 1994)
dpr_editorial is happy to announce that our next forthcoming book is the Spanish edition of the book:
DID SOMEONE SAY PARTICIPATE? An Atlas Of Spatial Practice
Edited by Markus Miessen & Shumon Basar, Designed by Åbäke
Did we mean participate or Did we mean something else?
Markus Miessen & Shumon Basar, Editors
The book Did Someone Say Participate? has been published by the MIT Press in the year 2006. dpr_editorial going on with it's philosophy to share interesting contents with our readers and having noticed that this amazing book talks about the most actual and contemporary topics (as it is participation and social projects with personal involvement, looking for a chance to make radical change in today’s cities) has decided to translate and distribute the book all over the world, especially in Latin America and Spain, to bring all Spanish-speakers the chance to get to know all the great projects and text that are part of the book.
