• Swimming Lesson!

    Took William swimming for the first time yesterday, it was amazing! He would normally walk round or jump over a puddle, let alone enter deep water. The people there were fantastic with him, (and me!) and i needn`t have worried about anything!

    I hack out most days, lunge him if i`m short on time, bit of schooling in the paddock and sponsored/fun rides when they are not too far from home. (came 4th the other week in an in-hand class!)

    Guess all the excercise pays off, he done 4 lengths in the pool and came out hardly blowing at all!

• Gruesome scene of horse suffer

    Just three weeks ago, 25 thin and neglected foals, stallions and pregnant mares were removed from an isolated farm in Aberdeenshire. The semi feral horses had not been handled or received even the most basic of care for many months and were forced to wade through thick mud to reach what little grazing was available. They had been allowed to breed indiscriminately and the body of a still born foal had been left where it lay. A weak and collapsed filly was also found and had to be put to sleep.
    
    The plight of the horses was discovered after a concerned member of the public called World Horse Welfares free UK Welfare Hotline. Field Officer Doug Howie was sent to investigate and was shocked at what he found. Doug knew that in order to get the horses signed over and ensure their safe removal, he would have to keep quiet about a terrible discovery he had made at the premises.

• Archie's Memorial Video

    Over the years we racked up quite a few photo's of Archie. after sitting for hours and hours with friends that knew him and rode him we picked our favorites and created this video in his memory. We are also going to be sponsering the crossrail divison and greenrider division at our local ETI horse show in his memory. Both of tose divisons are ones that Archie had compeated in and got his riders blue ribbons naming them champion.

    Archie was a very loved horse, by not only me, but every person who ever met him. He had a way of making anyone who touched him smile. He was calm enough for kids to run all around him and under him, he'd even let them hang off his neck, but he was fierce enough to compeate in the big leagues and win.

    Archie started out as a racehorse in Oregon, and in all honesty he sucked, and retired when he was 3 after refused to leave the starting gate and required a lead pony to escort him back to the stables!

    Archie compeated in Hunter/Jumpers from the age of 6 until the age of 21. He then retired and lived the life of luxury as a very spoiled rotten trail horse who got to do anything he wanted from the age of 21 until he died at the age of 23.

    Archie will be very missed, by everyone especially his stablemate/brother Reef, and his girlfriend/stablemate Pumpkin.
