    The Orphan donkey whos mother died after being stuck in swamp/ bog for 3/4 days has a friend. Moses Who came to us about 3 months ago was also orphaned when his mother was killed by a car. They are the best of friends and stick together. They love children with carrots and have had many visitors.

• Talulah and her mother Shiloh

    Talulah and Shiloh - We had two new additions this week. Talulah the foal and her mom Shiloh. Mom was found as a stray and really didnt look like she was pregnant. But Talulah popped out and is healthy and very cute. Shiloh was very nervous when she first came in but has improved a lot. Unamed Donkey and Baby - We rescued a female donkey that had been stuck in a bog for about 3 to 4 days. The baby donkey had stayed with his mother through the whole ordeal and never left her side. It was very moving watching her nuzzling her mother gently as we waited for more help to come. She was very week and we had to carry her up from a deep sloppy gouge to get her out. Her baby was so tired but he struggled up after his mother. Back at the unit we had a vet and vet nurse waiting to treat mommy, she still could not stand up. She went on the drip and we made her as comfortable as we could. After a while she tried to get up, so with lots of help and the aid of a hoist they managed to hoist her up. She tried to stand but was too weak. Mommy donkey passed away in my arms the following afternoon. It brought tears to my eyes to see the baby donkey with his mother as he moarned her death. Baby donkey was later moved into a stable with another donkey orphan that we have at the unit and have become the best of friend- will update you all on progress Gill

    This is Candy. She was found on a disused piece of land on a housing estate. She was due to be taken to slaughter as her owner no longer wanted her. Due to the mistreatment she had suffered, she was very defensive at first, and would kick out at anyone. That is now all in the past, and she has regained her trust in people.
