The news media will be reporting on Tea Parties in all the major cities across the U.S. - but probably won't notice our gatherings in little towns like Priest River and Oldtown. In a small town like this one it was pretty impressive to see about 300 people turn out. And as one of the speakers pointed out, it was impressive to see a cross-section of the community. We were young, old, rich, poor, and everyone in between.
I'd love to hear from everyone around the Northwest who attended a Tea Party in their own small town - just to see how many communities jumped on this bandwagon.
Later tonight I'll be posting photos from the Priest River Tea Party at www.priest-river-idaho.com/wordpress
I challenge everyone to do the same - here or on their own sites. Let's show those government people what we really think!

Does anyone know how the cheney fourlakes road is? I live in cheney and work in airway heights and I am unable to even get up my hill this morning. Just wondering what the roads are like from here to airway heights.
Thank you,

We received 3-4" snow overnight, not much, storm went north & south of us. Sun has shined off and on this morning..............few flurries at the present time. Myrna
I moved up here in 1976, and have never seen this amount of snow fall at one time. I remember in the 80s trying to get to work it was a trying experience then, so I would imagine its got to be worse this time around. lot of snowblowing to do lol.

This is looking out my front room window. The swamp cooler can be seen on the left. It is 3 feet off the ground, and the snow is higher than that. Also in the back yard you can see the the trail we've made going to the dog pen. That fence is 6 foot tall and the snow looks to be about half way up it. You can see one of the dogs looking at me, looking pitiful. LOL They've actually been inside and wanted to go out for a while. I hear we've broken the record set back in 1968 for the amoun
t of snowfall to fall in a 24 hour period.
I am a student at Montana State University - Bozeman, but I used to live in Spokane. Seeing as my folks still live there, I travel home to Spokane for the breaks. Travelling home means hopping on I-90 and going over the Homestake, Lookout and Fourth of July passes. My family called to warn me of this weather system thats rolling around the area and I started to wonder whether I should be travelling home now or wait for a few more days to see if it clears up. I have chains and snow tires on the mini-van I drive, but I would rather not drive in bad weather. I signed up for break housing since it's free anyways so I can technically stay till classes start up again, but I would like to go home for Christmas.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim Knutson
I live in the Valley at the Willowbrook Apartments on the corner of Pines and Maxwell. Not going to make it into work today, hopefully by tomorrow the roads will be in better condition. Anybody else out there living in these apartments who didn't make it in to work today?
I got up at 3:30 am to evaluate my work situation. Not good! I measured 24 inches of new snow, plus the 12 that fell yesterday! Walked to the main road, no sign of a snow plow. I have NO 4 wheel drive, sooo the decision is to call in buried. Since, the State Patrol has asked that only emergancy vehicles use the roads. Soooo, I have made the right decision. Looks like we may be in for another snowy winter.
The lake surface of Eloika Lake has started to freeze over. It's about 100 feet out from the shoreline and continues to get bigger everyday. Get your ice fishing gear ready !
we have not received our check even though our ss# is low we filed 1 day late on 4-16-08 any sugestions?

If anyone in KHQ land has read my profile you will notice that I am a P.I.G. - this stand for Positive Image Group. We are agroup of women who do good things for other people and try very hard to have fun while we are doing it!
Our newest "caper" about town is to do a PIG PARADE on Saturday, June 14, 2008 , through all of the downtown Omak businesses. This parade of ladies dressed in their "finest" fashions will raise money for Maddie Coats who is a little girl 6 months old who is battling for all she is worth! Believe me a PIG parade is not to be missed!! There will be plenty of frolicing and fun for all and it is for such a great cause! Maddie has cancer and has had it since she was two months old. There is a fund raiser at the Omak Elks that night and the PIG Parade will end there and we will present our hard earned money to her Grandparents to give to Maddie.
So if anyone out there in TV Land is reading this blog and you want to help out please let me know! Pictures of the parade will be posted on this site by Monday and you won't believe it until you see it!!
Even with all of the cold weather our CSA is growing well! Tomatos seem a little slow as do the serrano and jalepeno peppers but the corn, potatos, etc are doing great - don't forget to contact my site if you needa share or two in this fun adventure.
Hope everyone is enjoying spring even if we are being subjected to some strange weather!
Hooray - finally Spring is here - lots of gardening to do and if anyone is interested - I am starting a CSA (Community Supported Ag) garden here in Omak. Will begin selling shares to the bounty in mid-June. We have lots of goodies planted so for $200 for a full share and $125 for a half the shareowners will come out great! It is an experiment & we are really excited about it! Any questions?? Later - TC
