I'm one of The Disability Digest Partners. It is truly one of the most rewarding jobs I've ever have. One of the common themes I've noticed with talking with the Members is depression and hopelessness.
Well, I understand because I've had Crohn's Disease since 1994. It is severe and I almost died twice. I've been in and out of the hospital. I've had three surgeries for Crohn's. One did not work and the other was to repair the damage done from that surgery. It was difficult and I didn't understand. I remember one painful night when I got on my knees and I asked God if he was preparing me for torture. I don't remember hearing an answer but no, He was preparing me for something better.
Although I would rather not have Crohn's and be homebound much of the time, he uses my disease to help others. It says in 2 Corinthians 2:3-4 "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our mericiful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us." That's why I believe God has given me the privilege of helping other Members.
I will admit that on ocassion I do get depressed but I no longer feel hopeless. There is always hope. Do you remember the story of Abraham and his son when they went up the mountain. Abraham said that he and his son would return even though he was about to sacrifice his beloved son. Isaac asked his father, "where is the sacrifice?" He answered, "God will provide". And sure enough while Abraham and Isaac were going up one side of the mountain, a ram was going up the other. God indeed provided! And I know that He will provide for me and for you if you trust Him. You never knows what's coming on the other side of the mountain.
There is hope...there is always hope. Don't ever feel bad about feeling bad. God will provide. He still has a good plan for your life.
God bless you all, abundantly!
