We are Tracey and Peggy Vandeveer, owners of Alpha World Press, LLC.
We've been together happily for 24 years. You might be wondering why we have the same last name. Let us explain: We decided in 1985 - before there was any talk about same-sex marriage, we'd at least share the same last name so as to have a "family" name. So we changed our last names legally. Tracey "Meidl" and Peggy "Kubiak" became Tracey and Peggy Vandeveer.
We have a daughter, Sigourney, (by artificial insemination), who is our pride and joy. She's a black belt in Karate, a black tip in Tae Kwon Do, an honor student, a beautiful singer, and an avid reader/writer.
We both graduated from UW-Green Bay, each with a degree in the Humanities, which left us with an excellent education, but essentially no marketable skills. We took jobs at a local health insurance company that brought in money, but it certainly wasn't our passion.
A while back, we helped Ronae McGuire self-publish a book she'd written. We really enjoyed the process and decided to do a little research.
We'd found our passion. People started sending us manuscripts. Last year, we officially started this business, and we couldn't be happier.
