When I started running again 2 years ago I was overweight and slow. After a 10-week program athttp://www.ezhealthinstitute.com in January 2006 my mile times went from 12 minutes to 9 minutes. I was the slowest in our group training for the Monument Avenue 10K. Losing 45 lbs and strengthening my core where the key to my improvement. At my wife’s suggestion I joined the SB Marathon Training Team. The improvement continued and I missed Boston by just 10 minutes in November 2006. Making Boston was not my goal but it was in my reach. Fitness was my goal and I like shorter races. So I trained over the winter for ½ marathons and 10Ks resulting in a 1:37 ½ marathon at Virginia Beach in March 2007. After that race I know based on my projected time that getting to Boston should be a goal. So I trained at EZHI and with the SB Marathon Training Team with the goal of running under 3:35 at the Las Vegas Marathon. A group of us from EZHI went to Vegas to run and have fun. If you are not having fun why run! My wife and I came back with more money then we left home with and I qualified for Boston with a time of 3:33.

If you join us on Saturdays at West Creek at 6:00 AM, I will tell you the story of the guy that came back from a broken back that helped me make my qualifying time and how qualifying is just the start of the journey!
