I'm 46 years old and live in Statesboro, Ga. I am from Baltimore, Md., and moved to Georgia in 1990. I have 1 daughter who's 23 and 2 grandchildren one girl 5, one boy 3. I have had Lupus every since I was 12 years old. I have ESRD (end stage renal disease) and have been doing in-center Hemodialysis for 13 years. I use a wheelchair due to broken bones in my feet but can walk, dialysis is stripping the calcium from the bones making them brittle so I have to be careful and I have breaks in other parts of my body. I had surgery last year to reattach my left foot and by the grace of God healed very good. The best part is I have no feelings in my feet, the worst part is I don't know when I break any bones in my feet until they swell up, it's neuropathy without being a diabetic. I am a Patient Advocate and a certified Peer Supporter and a volunteer. I love people, love to travel and learning to love my computer.
Update 02/28/2009
Loving life he year didn't start off the way I would have liked it to, but we never get what we want but we get the things we need to live and survive. On 12/02/2008 had my left leg amputated and trying to heal from the after effects of my surgery. I plan to attend college and search for a job, these are the things that will keep me from going insane. I Also have a handsome grandson born on the same day as my surgery. Being a Patient Ambassador is a task that has kept me very busy and in the up on the events on Capitol Hill.
