Infrared rays are rays with a high wavelength, greater than the normal red light’s. This leads to a number of benefits including therapeutic, health and beauty advantages. These saunas come in different models, including small portable ones that you can keep in a tiny corner of a room, till large ones that will occupy a room by itself. And there are intermediate sizes. The small portable sauna is cheap and nice for one person, so cheap compared to its benefits that it is gradually becoming almost a household item in many parts of the USA. The bigger one – the far infrared sauna – retails the benefit, is more expensive, but can fit in anywhere from 1 to 5 persons depending upon the model you select. These are items of ultimate luxury. The top 5 benefits of an infrared sauna include:1. Blood quality and circulation improvement: You improve your quality of blood as well as flow of blood tremendously over time; hence your vital organs get a much-desired boost for longevity.2. Detoxification: Most people believe this is the best benefit of the infrared sauna, be it portable, or a far infrared sauna (FIR). It promotes the elimination of toxins from your muscles and skin, including slow-gathering poisons that manifest long way down the line but let you live peacefully for now, lactic acid, excess sodium associated with hypertension, free fatty acids, subcutaneous fat associated with aging and fatigue, and uric acid which causes pain.3. Injury and pain removal: The infrared sauna is an excellent pain and injury remover; in particular it can produce amazing results for joint pain removal.4. Improved metabolism and weight loss: An infrared sauna, portable or FIR, can improve your metabolism by a noticeable degree and produce non-water sweat to remove a lot of your fat. One can gain the effect of running 2-3 miles simply by an hour in the FIR sauna.5. Skin improvement and beauty: Infrared saunas do deep-cleansing for your skin and remove all the toxic substance just below your skin surface. As a result one feel the inner glow of the skin rise to the surface. The improved blood and skin quality leads to a high improvement in beauty and perception.

Hello, few week ago I came across a training course that teaches people how to earn extra money online using a proven blueprint or formula. So far so good... the methods used are great and they work very well for me. I highly recommend you to watch this free video "Affiliate Launch Blueprint Review". This free video talks about the blueprint or formula in great details. I am sure you will appreciate it and will learn some good knowledge from the video. I don't know how long this free video is going to be available though.... so go watch it now if you can. Good luck!

Hello friends, it has been a while since I checked in. I just got back from NTC Desert Training in California and this weekend I fly back to my beautiful wife and big kids for my last trip before deploying to Iraq, I will be there for two weeks and I plan to have a very good time with them. Talking about good times, I heard there is a half marathon going on near the end of this month, I am contemplating to participate. But for sure I will register for the next year Ukropps Monument Ave 10K Run, If I can not coordinate my R&R leave dates and be on ground (Richmond) for the run I will be proud to participate from Iraq. I am having some trouble with my left knee, pain below the knee cap. I know what it is and I also know what I am suppose to do, but sometimes is hard to follow the Doctors orders, I love running and I am having a Physical Fitness Test at the end of September in which I will get my highest score ever (300) which is the max for the test, so I have to train carefully. Any way, wish me luck if I run and pray for me while I am deployed. Thank you guys, and May God Bless you always!!.

Adrenaline Sports

I tried Adrenaline Sports at the Shady Grove YMCA for the first time a couple of weeks ago after putting it off for serveral months. Scheduling issues got in the way, and let's face it, I was intimidated after all I'd heard about the program. I knew it'd be good, but I also knew it would kick my ass. Let me just tell you, it didn't disappoint! Now having done the class several times, I can honestly say I had never truly worked out before. And I've run races for years including a marathon and have been doing weight classes on a continual basis. Nothing compares to Adrenaline! I absolutely love it. It's harder than heck, but the challenge is awesome. There are no weights, no equipment, no nothing - it's just you. And you'll never get a better overall workout for your cardio, your core, and your muscular endurance. The workout is outside and Paul Caminiti, the owner and trainer, is amazing. He mixes just the right amount of toughness and encouragement. He's got a great rapport with all the participants. And, yes, there's the fact that he'll kick your ass. Or I guess a more politically correct way to say it would be to say that he challenges you like you've never been challenged before. The sessions combine sprints (which I've never done in my life, and you can tell!) with short bursts of strength challenges which could be anything from lunges, push ups, squats, planks or sit-ups. It's actually hard to put into words, but everyone who tries it is hooked from the get-go. You actually feel like you're on The Biggest Loser because you're getting pushed that hard. Anyway, check out adrenalinesportsusa.com. And better yet, try out one of the sessions at either the Shady Grove or Tuckahoe YMCA. You won't regret it and I can guarantee you'll be immediately hooked. And I can’t end this post without a big fat ‘You Were Right’ to Sean Cusack who encouraged me to try this program no less than 6 months ago. So don’t go getting all cocky or anything, but you were definitely right!

10k follow up run Shady Grove

There was a very good turn out at Shady Grove for a run yesterday morning. It was nice to see so many people that want to keep the momentum going and they should! 10 weeks of training was a huge committment and you should not give up now! Just think how much better next year's race will be if you continue to train. Shady Grove Y is trying to keep a somewhat organized Saturday run going, so check it out if interested. We suffered through a lot of cold weather but now spring is here. Don't be surprised if all the sudden on a warm day your performance isn't what you had hoped. This happens as the weather gets warmer. I know it happened to me and I was so disappointed in myself until our Caoch Dan pointed out that it takes a while for your body to adjust to the heat. If I did adjust, I don't know if I realized it because it was just darn hard to keep training through the summer. But I am glad I did!So, have you signed up for your next race?

Where is your next finish line?

Speaking of finish lines....don't let Monument Ave's 10k be the end of running for you! You don't want to have to start all over again on a cold January morning next year. You will be kicking yourself for not sticking with it. One really great way to stick with it is to find your next finish line. Find another race and sign up now. It can be another 10k in a few weeks, a 5k or an 8k....whatever! If you are really feeling ambitious you can sign up early for the McDonald's 1/2 Marathon in November (discount registrations apply!)! My sister-in-law has found several for us to do. We have decided to do at least one race a month together. We have found an "Urban Dare" race in DC on 4/18 which sounds interesting. I think we may also try the James River Challenge; both the James River Scramble on 5/16 and the Carytown 10k on 5/17. Two great websites for finiding races would be www.sportsbackers.org and www.RRRC.org for local races and www.runnersworld.com for a more complete list of races anywhere. If your were a part of the YMCA's 10k Training Team then you received and e-mail from Coach Dan Blankenship listing a few of the local races and websites to check. Don't find yourself having to start over next year. Instead, look back and see how far you have come and how strong you are and how fit you are to have continued with the commitment to a healthy lifestyle! Our West End Running Group is always open and welcoming any new members!

What an amazing day! The rain held off, the temperature was just right, the bands were rockin', and the atmosphere was almost electric! What a wonderful place Monument Avenue was this morning as thousands of us made our way across the scenic 6.2 mile course to the finish line!!! I am so proud of all of my running buddies who all had personal best times today! I'm proud of my husband, Matthew, who finished in 42 minutes! I am proud of myself for finishing in 55 which was much faster than the original goal I'd set for myself! The high-fives from John Hurley and Dan Blankenship were just as quenching as a cup of Powerade when we came around the turn! The cheers from the crowds and random people yelling to remind you that you are halfway there or that there is only 1 mile to go is all you need to dig deep and push yourself to keep going! A running buddies wife cheering for me when I thought I had nothing left (thanks, Kathy!) and Courtney running the other direction on Monument spoted me and yelled as she went by....these are the little things that give me those boosts of energy when I need them the most! The high-fives and hugs and so many words of encouragement when meeting friends at the end is why I am still doing this a year later! Thank you so much to the Shady Grove Y coaches such as John Hurley, our head coach Dan Blankenship, and ALL of my running buddies for making this such a wonderful day! I look forward to running this race every year for many years to come!

Momument

What a perfect morning for the 10K, it was really great. I succeeded in running and finishing WITH my wave, which means another goal accomplished (and about 12+ minutes knocked off last year's time)!**edit to add**I finished at 1:04:16. Last year was 1:16:58A 12 minutes and 42 secs difference from last year! Woohoo! After completing the race I went to my car and changed out of my sweaty shirt into dry clothes and went back out on Monument Ave to find my Mom, who was walking. This is not only her first Monument Ave 10K, but her first time ever doing anything like this in her life. It was a joy to catch up with her and to walk a few miles with her and then to stand on the sidelines and watch her finish. What a cool thing. She was a star for a moment, because as she crossed the finish they announced her name and said, "68 years young," it was an awesome moment for her and for me, too! She also had set a goal to finish in 2 hours and I think she might have done just that! I just can't thank Sportsbackers enough for providing this opportunity for so many people of varying abilities to be able to do this kind of thing. [image][image]My only complaint is that during the walk with my Mom, we encountered SMOKERS on the course. I could not figure out where it was coming from but then realized that there was a woman, wearing a bib#, and she was smoking while walking. Then the same thing happened a bit later. I am super-sensitive to cigarette smoke and I just could not believe anyone participating in a health-conscious atmosphere would light up out on the course! Even when you are outdoors, there are other people around who end up having to walk through the smoke path left behind. I don't know if there was or is anything in the event rules about smoking, but can this please be written in (if not already) that there should absolutely be no smoking on the course?

I hope everyone is well and ready for Monument! I have the best darned luck and have been stricken with a cough but do or die I am going to be there tomorrow morning! I have taken the past few days off to rest, I have worked so hard to gain back endurance and increase my speed for this...my 5K times have been awesome, this past Saturday's SPCA was 31:48 minutes, compared to a November 5K of 35:47 and Holten a few weeks ago was 32:43...I am at my goal pace for doing Monument in the S Wave (61-65 min...compared to 1:16:58 last year). My goals for post-Monument Av is to get under 30 minutes for the 5K...and to work on training for the HHH Sprint Tri. I have the bike now, nothing to stop me. I considered entering the Du in April but have decided to volunteer instead, probably a safer option for myself and those around me, haha.Anyway, wanted to drop in and send my best wishes for a great race tomorrow, fun and safe running to you all, thanks to Sportsbackers and thanks to the volunteers!

Well, I flew in last night from Georgia to be with my family and be part of the big event of the year. The 10K Monument Avenue Run, 10th Aniversary. My Army Unit allowed me a four day pass to be here and experience it in person, I told my older brother (Army SGM Retired) from Maryland that I was comming to run and he got fire-up about it and registered too. So, he is bringing his family with him, we are going to have a good time, even if it rains. Thank you to my new friends that read and replied to my blog, you lifted me up. God Bless you and enjoy the race, we might bump into each other on Saturday. HOOAH !!!

You should all be feeling pretty ready for Saturday's race....you have either run the 6.2 in training or have come very close. You have experimented with clothing and shoes and know what works for you and what doesn't. You have figured out what foods give you the energy you need to complete a run successfully. You have as many of the factors under control as possible. Race day shouldn't present too many unknown variables with the exception of the weather. Lucky for us the course is flat, easy to navigate, and chocked full of all of our biggest fans screaming and cheering us along. One thing you may not be expecting is the thrill of running your first race! It really is so much fun and I still get excited and pumped up with the cheering crowds and all of the excitement! I hope you all have a great time!!! Have fun, stay safe, stick to whatever plans have gotten you to this point, and don't forget how far you've come since you started just 10 weeks ago! You should be feeling a great sense of pride every time you think of your success not just upon crossing that finish line. Don't forget to stop by the YMCA's tent in Monroe Park after you've finished to get your much deserved memento!!! Be on the lookout for Coach Dan, John Hurley, and many others at the turn around point on the course!!! Scream and yell for those you know and just take it all in! WOO-HOO, Monument Avenue, here we come!!!!! :)

The Shamrock Half Marathon is over and we did well, sticking to the plan we made while training. We planned to finsh by 2:20 and actually finished at 2:19. The training paid off...I had plenty of energy left to pick it up at mile 11 and sprint it home at mile 12! Thanks to Coach Dan and a special thanks to my running buddy Dave who paced us on his Garmin the whole half marathon. He pulled me back when I would randomly speed up.So, for Saturday, try to stick to whatever plan you have. Do not go out there and try to do something totally diiferent than you did in training and you will be successful! Most of all, have fun!! It is a great race, lots of entertainment so enjoy!

"WOW," is all I can really say about the improvements made by those of us who ran 1/2 marathons this weekend! Dan, Dave, and Judy ran the Shamrock 1/2 this morning in VA Beach and I ran the National 1/2 in DC yesterday. Dan was sick and still finished in 2:15! Dave and Judy stuck to a very smart running plan which got them to the finish line in 2:19!!!! I ran with my sister-in-law with no plan other than to keep up with her and crossed in 2:04!!! These are all amazing times and I am so very proud of all of us! We all had personal bests (with the exception of Dan who can boast a 2:01 from a previous race). And, considering we ran the McDonald's 1/2 here in Richmond last November in 2:38, they are especially amazing times!!! This is proof, once again, that sticking to this sport and having friends to do it with can make you extremely successful! I am definitely hurting today but am hopeful that tomorrow will be better and that I will be ready for another personal best on Saturday at the Monument Avenue 10k!!! I can't wait to hear stories from all of you about how the Y's 10k training team has helped you meet your goals and finish in record time!!!! Good luck!

I would like to invite all of you to join my running buddies and I after the 10k is but a memory. You should seriously consider keeping up this running thing for several reasons....1. You have come too far to just quit. 2. You are stronger and healthier than you were 2 months ago and you can only get stronger from here on out. 3. Just think of how much easier Ukrops Monument Avenue 10k 2010 will be if you don't have to start from scratch!!!! If you have not had much luck meeting up with people who plan on continuing after race day then you are more than welcome to join our group. We haven't fixed a schedule yet but it will probably be something like Tuesday and Thursday meet at 5:45am to run between 3 and 4 miles then Saturdays around 7am to run about 5 or 6. We meet at the Shady Grove YMCA in the parking lot near the picnic pavillions. I am unsure about Saturdays especially because Dan Blankenship is the coach of our West End Running Group and our schedule and location depends on him and whether or not he is coaching a marathon training team again this year. (I probably should have waited until I had more info before posting this so these are just general idea.) Also, as the group continues to grow, there will be more variety of paces and therefore distances each time. I think our weekday group is up to 8 if we were all to show up at the same time. It is really great to see what started as just Kim and Judy 2 years ago grow to 8 over the past few months. Our paces range from around 9 min/mile - 11 min/mile. We are very conscious of making sure everyone knows where they are going and nobody is ever left alone. I believe I speak for all of us when I say that we would love to have you...all of you!!! If you would like me to send you more info then just leave me a message through this website and I will be sure to respond. Please consider our little group, or any group for that matter ....I just happen to think that I found the best when I found Judy and Kim and all those I've met since then!!!

It's that time of year again...basketball! Don't stay up too late, you have rest to get so you can keep up with training! Seriously, life is short so enjoy as much as you can!I am "tapering" this week for the Shamrock Half Marathon on Sunday. Can't say I haven't enjoyed the shorter runs and a little more sleep. The shorter runs have felt really good. Next week everyone will be "tapering" for the 10K. Coach Dan wrote about this in his newsletter this week, please heed the advice. Training extra hard next week will not result in a better 10K.On a sad note, a friend of mine from the world of "dog sports" I participate in passed away from cancer this morning. She was my age and this time last year she was preparing to walk the 10K. I remember seeing her cheering section of dogs and people along Monument last year and I was really touched. She lived everyday to it's fullest following her diagnosis, competing in agility with her dogs up to her last days. Remember, life is short, give it all you have!

Week 9 at Shady Grove was so much fun! Never thought it would be so much fun to "only" run 6 miles! It was great to see Coach Dan! It was sad to say goodbye to Coach John, but he promised we would have a post 10K get together run. Next week a few of us head to the National Half Marathon and the Shamrock Half, so we were honored with lovely hats and headbands to wear yesterday. And April got a special one for that and her birthday! Also found out one of our awesome coaches is doing the Full Shamrock Marathon next weekend. The rain held off for our intermediate group but I think the novice and walkers got some rain. This will only help you prepare in case race day is wet. Some of you accomplished your longest distance ever yesterday and I hope you are proud of that! I saw a lot of faces that I recognize from the previous two years. A lot of people seem to enjoy this 10K training team, and rightly so!This week is a "taper" week for us doing the half marathons next weekend so we have to be sure to not overdo and stay injury free. Next week will be a taper week for the 10k, as well as a recovery week following the half. I am not sure how that will work out, I have never done back to back short races much less two longer ones! Guess I will find that out soon.April looks so good in her headband..and that was after she ran! I don't look that good after running...

So, this really is IT! I didn't realize until I read Judy's blog "This is it" that yesterday really was it for those of us running other races next week. It was our last day with the 10k team until we all hit the Broad Street pavement on race day! I was sure to thank John and shake his hand before leaving. He is an amazing coach and one of the most encouraging people I've ever met. He makes jumping jacks at 7am fun...especially if you have him and 50 others singing "Happy Birthday" to you! It was hysterical! It was nice to see Dan for the first time since the training started and I look forward to seeing both of them along the course on race day. Thanks to our running buddy Kim, Judy, Dave, Dan, and I were ready for St. Paddy's Day in our headbands and giant hats!!!! (see picture in My Photos)This really is IT! You are on the home stretch! Many of you went the farthest you've ever gone yesterday in the rain and race day is only a little bit farther!!!! You are just so close!!! These past few weeks have been challenging at times but, for the most part, they have been so much fun! I hope for any of you already thinking about doing this again next year that you will! It gets easier each time, you meet wonderful people who help you along, and you meet others who need your help! What more could you ask for!?

This is it for me for 10k Saturday runs. This is my last training run at Shady Grove because next weekend I will be heading down to Va Beach for the Shamrock Half Marathon. I need to say bye to John Hurley...he has been the best coach and has realized that a few of us have been doing more than 10k training. And tomorrow Coach Dan will be at Shady Grove too! Dan has been an inspiration for even doing a half marathon. He coached a small group of us last summer and fall for the Richmond Half in addition to coaching a Marathon Trasining Team for Sportsbackers! His dedication to the sport is awesome, and he has been a friend as well.It is going to be cold and damp tomorrow for our run but remember, it could be like that on race day so it is good training! We had some glorious days earlier this week that were good for running and for me to get some great rides in on my horse friend Kurt. Give it your best tomorrow despite the weather, and remember how far you have come! Thanks April for being the only buddy that showed up on Tuesday..even though we struggled we were there!

Ups and downs....

This has been a week of ups and downs for me. I had an awesome run Saturday, rested on Sunday, struggled a little on Monday, struggled a lot Tuesday, rest on Wednesday, and felt okay today but was not willing to go 4 miles. I guess that's just the way these things go. Like Kelly said in "Attitude" we all have those days where all you can think about is being done. That is one of the very best things about running at the crack of dawn...it is over and done with for the day (good or bad). Again, that is also where running buddies come in handy. They will listen to you whine, take walk breaks with you, or drag you by your shoe laces to get you to the end. I hope you are all experiencing more good runs than hard ones. We have so few left before race day and you need to make each one count. Also, remeber that now is not the time to change too much. If eating a slice of toast and some gatorade works for you then don't add peanut butter on race day. If you are most comfortable when you are wearing a ponytail, don't decide to try a hat on race day. John Hurley reminded us to not even cut our toenails before then....HA! Dan says to get all experimenting out of the way now! You should have as many factors under control and fixed before race day....it will be here before you know it!
