  • What I have learned from horses.

I have learned that you have to be VERY patient with horses. I had a lesson one time and I almost got thrown off of the horse that I was riding. After that, I was trying to at least get into a walk and the horse would not move. Then, she kept on backing up. I was sooooo frustrated and mad. I would get her to walk on, and then she would stop and back up. Ever since that lesson I have learned to be VERY patient with horses. :D Haha. I am very glad that I had that lesson to teach me to be patient.

I think horses teach us more than any other animal does. I have grown up with dogs all my life and though I adore them, they never forced me to work on the inner me. God has used horses in my life to teach me a lot about myself, about my relationship with Him and my relationship with others. I am learning to control my emotions, to overcome fear and yes, to be patient. I believe self-control of one's emotions and patience is what will keep us safe around these magnificant animals; it is what helps them to trust us, and lets face it-it is this trust that ultimately keeps us safe. BTW. Thank you for sharing. Its so nice to see some activity on this community.

I have seen people handle a situation like the one you described in a very negative way. Frustration and embarrassment can cause some people to react with anger. Others view these types of challenges as an opportunity to learn from the experience. It sounds like you are learning from your experience and I think that is great! Thanks for sharing ;o)
