WCC Children's Arts Festival Fundraiser 10/4/09

CULVER CITY, September 15, 2009 – Attendees of the Westside Children’s Center’s (WCC) 16th Annual Children’s Arts Festival will be treated to an adventurous expedition with this year’s theme – Safari on Main Street at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City.

Each year the WCC Children’s Arts Festival attracts families with children from toddlers to teens for an afternoon of fun and entertainment. Activities at past events have included games, arts and crafts, hair braiding, henna tattoos, rock climbing, face painting, scavenger hunts, bungee jumping, and a silent auction. Many of the same activities will be included in this year’s event, plus additional theme-related activities. In addition, attendees are treated to live entertainment and a tasty kid-friendly menu of treats.

Past arts festivals have drawn attendance of up to 600 adults and children and it’s not uncommon for there to be an occasional celebrity sighting or two. All enjoy the excitement of the entertainment and family fun while contributing to a great local cause. All proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the operating costs of WCC, which is a Culver City non-profit organization, established in 1987, providing family and child welfare services to underserved families in West Los Angeles.

Every year the Auxiliary of WCC (formed in 1993 to raise awareness and provide additional financial support for WCC) takes charge of all the planning, advertising, logistics and operations of the Children’s Arts Festival. The group is comprised of 35 volunteers with a wide range of both professional and personal backgrounds. Auxiliary members volunteer their time throughout the entire year to develop the Children’s Arts Festival, which is the longest running WCC fund-raising event. Auxiliary members also contribute financially by sponsoring the event.

This year’s arts festival will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Tickets will be available online at http://www.westsidechildrens.org in August. Tickets can also be purchased at the event.

WCC invites all to join our facebook fan page and view pictures from past Children’s Art Festivals.  http://tinyurl.com/nzx9da
