Understanding what you can't see

WHAT WE HAVE HERE IS A FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE!!!  When I scream out in the middle of the night, it's not a nightmare, it's reality.  When I just burst into tears in the middle of the day it's not because my husband and I are fighting.  When I pace the floor at night it's not because I don't want to sleep or I have taken something that will keep me awake.  When I can't put my feet on the floor in the morning it's not because I'm lazy.  When the grandkids say it's been awhile since they have seen grandma it's not because she doesn't love them.  When I can't keep anything on my stomach it's not the flu.  When I need your hand to walk up the stairs or to get in the car it's not because I don't want to go.  When I don't go to work at the job I've done for 26 years and have loved and never done anything else, it's not because I think I'm too good to work or I'm lazy.  When I take medication it's not because I'm a drug addict.  When I have to use a cane, it's not because it's an accesory.  When I haven't done my hair or my makeup it's not because I have "let myself go".

If you think for one minute that I don't want to jump out of bed every morning, get in the shower, dress up and go to work, cutting hair all day and visiting with all the people that I have spent the most of my life with and after work meet the kids and grandkids for dinner, go home and get a great nights sleep after making great love with my husband, just to get up the next day and do it all over again.........THEN YOU ARE CRAZY!!!!!!!

JUST BECAUSE I LOOK OK ON THE OUTSIDE...DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE INSIDE IS OK!!!!

  • Very well put. I have 3rd stage COPD. I look fine on the outside, I just can't breathe as well as most. I have a handicap sticker and receive the "whats she doing with that and why is she parking her car in a handicap parking space" What you can't see is the way I breathe and how I breathe. Looks can be deceiving when one only looks at the outside of a person.
