Trying to find GRANT

Hello! I do not have dental insurance and I am badly in need of dental work. Has anyone ot there applied for a grant for dental or medical work? Whenever I fo to the gant sites I can't seem to find any personal grants for the need I have. If you can answer, please send your email to thedisabilitywarrior@roadrunner.com.

  • P. S. I'm finding that these grants are tricky and sometime just a way to prey on the less fortunate. Some "grants" come from Foundations and most time they raise money for the needy and distribute a small amount to those in need just to say they help someone when they really only help themselves. I say be careful and keep eyes and ears open not behaving gullible where you are taken on a roller coaster ride just to be let down and more handicapped than when you started out. May the Force be with you.

  • There is a medical network in my area called NEON that is hooked up with the major hospitals. Grants aren't given out to the individual but come in the form of going on your income sliding scale type of thing. When you get that consideration that is considered to be a grant. I am seeking help with dental work and need extensive dental (getting that work done in itself will make you feel better) Calling signing up for an appointment is the first step then they will take you as a walk in with a minimal fee that must be paid to see the Dentist. Another option may be the free clinic in your area as they may also offer dental services. This is considered to be another service. You may not have a fee and that's because the orginaztion gets the funds to provide these services so really that too is considered to be a grant. Every where you go you have to meet their guidelines. I did try Modest Needs and apply for a grant to help with car repairs after 45 days of communication no help as others have to vote on and donate to "your" need. This may work for some. I still can't afford to get my car fixed and I submitted two applications for assistance. In the area in which I live help is mostly given to families not people with disabilities to help you with the everyday issues of life. So not to be reduced to a beggar you have to come up with creative ideas like joining a credit union opening up a savings account and "saving" the money you don't have and getting a loan from yourself. Hey it's just an idea.

  • Have you looked into modestneeds.org? Check them out- they are recommended by Brian Therrien too.
