  • I would like to suggest that the appearance of the membranes is an optical illusion--that the membrane is actually wrapped around the rod like the bristles on a vacuum cleaner (or the stripe of a straw) and that the rods may be twirlling, not "flying" across the sky. At least, that's what I see. --Believer2
