Lyrica Good Med

I was fortunate enough to sample Lyrica for two weeks. I felt fabuous while on it. I go to the Pain Management doctor. They put me on Methadone twice a day. Oh my gosh! I got so very sick..I lasted three days before taking it and flushing it down the toilet. I called the doctor to report this. I go back. They give me a script for Lyrica since I had tried it and it worked. It took two weeks before the pharmacy and the doctor's office would tell me that Medicare would not approve it. They give me a prescription for Cymbalta. What an adjustment it has been! I have felt lousy for going on two weeks now as they increased the dosage after a week. The thing is this..I still have joint pain. When I took the Lyrica..the joint pain had lessened and I wasn't all dopey and groggy like I am on the Cymbalta. I felt close to having a normal body. If a medication works well for the patient, why would they not approve it? I was almost going to pay for the Lyrica out of pocket when the pharmacy tech tells me it is $133.00 for a thirty day script. I could not afford that is I am a hostage to the government system being on Disability. I had to jump through some serious hoops just to get the Disability and now that I have it, has it gotten better? I agree to Medicare health insurance. Another hostage situation with them!!! They don't want to give you something that works..you have to jump through the government subsidized program hoops again and let Medicare dictate to me what they allow and what they don't allow, whether it works or not! I cannot work a full time job where I can get decent insurance. So I have to accept it and keep jumping through the Medciare hoops! Peace Out!

  • Hey Gina, try www.pparx.org and see if you can get it for free... even on Medicaid. It's possible! I'm getting a lot of my meds free now... even though I'm not on Medicaid but they do take that in consideration in the forms.
