The 2009 6th Annual Houston Solar Tour is a self-guided tour that features 20 residential and commercial buildings, as well as hosting a Solar Social. From large commercial installs and smaller residential installs to solar thermal hot water and pool heaters, everyone has the opportunity to check out real solar solutions for real people. In addition, installers and homeowner with solar systems were available to answer questions on how and why solar energy systems are becoming more and more popular.

The Solar Tour's mission is to raise awareness of solar energy and provide an opportunity for the public to see working solar systems in action. The organizers, made up of Houston's dedicated green leadership, seek to inspire individuals to make sustainable energy choices.
