Omaha hip hop pioneer Houston Alexander AKA The Assasin AKA Scrib AKA Strong Arm AKA FAS/ONE

I just got back from the Ultimate Fighting Championship at the Omaha Civic Auditorium, which featured 4 major fights broadcasted live on Spike TV. Houston Alexander (pictured above) was the first one up.

My O heads will recognize him from the now-defunct Midwest Alliance. He also DJs for Power 106.9 as Strong Arm.

There were a few cameras wandering around backstage, and whenever Houston came on-screen, the sold out auditorium just fucking erupted. He's the hometown champ in a way, a mascot for this city we call Omaha, and Nebraska as a whole.

Him and his opponent (Eric Schafer) came out, and everything got loud fast, with half the auditorium booing Eric Shafer and the other half (me included) chanting Houston's name.

(On a side note, how fucked up is it that one of the best known dudes from Omaha is named Houston? Whateva...)

Things started alright, with the two being pretty evenly matched, but then Eric got Houston on the ground and shit went downhill.

Eric got him locked up and basically punched him straight in the face for two minutes until Houston double-tapped his back, submitting and forfeiting the match to Eric.

Everyone started booing Eric as he gave his victory soundbyte, then chanted "Houston!" as he exited, giving out a few quick pounds and hugs along the way.
