  • I am 100% disabled and I'm receiving SSID, I went to the housing office in my town and I was told section eight comes out in September. So I asked how do I sign up they told me I would have to be on a line for twenty four hour for the application. With a double broken back there is no way I can do this. How can I get section eight, to help me with my rent. My email address is Sandman2000a@aol.com

  • I own a home that has a three bedroom in-law suite attached to it. My vision is to have my daughter, who is mentally retarded, live in it and hire a caregiver, part-time, to help her with household chores. I could also "rent" the other two bedrooms out to other young people with disabilities and they could "share" the cost of the caregiver. I live in Ohio. Has anyone done anything like this before? Or does anyone know someone who has? I am interested in finding out about Section 8 subsidies for landlords of low income housing and any legalities involved in housing individuals with disabilities (what if they fall in the shower? Am I responsible?) Also, if anyone knows about IO waivers and if they could be used to pay for the caregiver. Thanks!

  • I have this idea for housing. but I need some feedback: I am looking for a medium I can use to build a self-sufficient home. One that is self supporting. I would like to have my own home, except for the utilities. i think, I can afford one- maybe; if the correct choices are made. Because of the limitations ( I hate that word), of financing, my conditions, etc. I have to be smart in creating a place. I have looked into earthships, cob construction, cord construction, tire construction, etc. All seems to be a bit more than I can do if I do this alone. Not saying I would but you know, the, "We are all here until the work is too much and it's your project; we are going home", syndrome. soooooooo… I found this medium called papercrete, it is lightweight, fireproof, can be shaped in any form, and green (uses paper destined for the landfill). It's akin to paper-mache on steroids, (I had to). newsprint + +concrete (as a binder only + water. The ratio: 10:1 paper:concrete bag; not bad odds. The process: This becomes ˆveryˆ interesting: it is a very big blender (construced out of a differential a water tank, and lawnmore blades, a trailer platform), to be pulled bu a vechicle for bout one-two miles to mix (paper, concrete, water). then is poured out of a down spout into forms of any imagination, or sculpted, left to dry and used to build with. Now one can add boric acid for insect control, possible some bleach for mold control, and some "re-bar" of anything around, ( have seen them use rushes; thick grasses). So what do you think?
