We are in a much better place this week. Last week at this time we had lost three in a row and I had no catches. To come back and have another start and have the game that I did, it feels great to contribute and get my first touchdown catch.
I almost came to tears on the sideline. I’ve been waiting on that thing for three years. All the times I’ve shined in the preseason, I finally got an opportunity in the regular season and I made it happen.
We didn’t throw the ball a lot against Oakland, because if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. We had two running backs running the heck out of the ball, so we just had to keep running it. That’s great because it’s going to open up plays for myself, Bray, Jerricho, Wallace and Brad.
Anytime a team wants to put eight in the box and play man up on us, that’s going to be a mistake for any team.
On my touchdown it was just a regular go route, from the 35-yard line or so. Coach switched me to the other side of the ball, from flanker to split end, and Mark just tossed one up to me. It’s funny because I actually talked to Mark a couple plays before that and told him whatever you do, throw it early and let me run under it. He threw it a little behind me, but it was good enough to allow me to make a play on it. You have to have that confidence and the quarterback has to have that confidence that the receivers can make plays.
We have the Dolphins up here this week. When we played them down there I personally don’t think we should have lost. We shot ourselves in the foot. We weren’t outplayed or outcoached.
If we play the way the Jets are supposed to play, there’s not a team in the NFL that can beat us.
Then we’ll have a bye week, and I’m definitely looking forward to getting down to Florida to spend some time with friends and family. But right now I’m totally focused on the Miami game.
